I'm a naturalist, campaigner and TV broadcaster. I have dedicated my life's work to the conservation of the natural world. In a Climate and Biodiversity Crisis we must step up and take bold action.
Not many people are aware that even cows that have access to fields are largely fed on soya and corn, which are usually grown on deforested land. So when you're eating meat or dairy, you're contributing to deforestation. The result of this deforestation in places like Brazil is often drought, which causes desertification.
Your nuts Chris, you sit there as a hypocrite telling everyone what they should do and your the polluter. Are you trying to cleanse yourself of your guilt, I very much doubt it, the pollution you created with your Tours which you have handed over to McCubbin You're as twisted as they come Packham, your fall from grace is coming !!!
Went the the aquarium in Hull. There was an exhibition about the ravages of the fishing industry on sea life then, first on the menu in the canteen? Fish bites. If thought leaders and nature focussed institutions don’t act like there’s a problem people will follow their lead. Great request from Chris here.
I just don’t believe anything will ever change under this system. So it’s almost pointless talking about the UN biodiversity and climate COPs. They can’t possibly achieve any kind of worthwhile outcome unless the overall economic and political system is forced to change. They are only ever going to look for supposed solutions within the current system, which is the cause of all the damage that’s been done.
Thank you!! I've just made the 100% switch to Plant Based living ... made possible because of all the wonderful plant based choices in the stores, and RU-vid videos showing how to make wonderful recipes with lots of flavour ... thank you Chris Packham!! We must start somewhere and now!
I really resent paying £170 a year licence fee that pays the huge salaries of paedophiles like Packham and Lineker, who then use their high profile to push minority leftist views on the rest of us.
I eat organic, pigeon, rabbit, lots of pheasants occasionally rod and line caught bass 🤔 but I put 90% of them back. Conger , rays , zander Whiting and dogfish ,Wild apples and plums which I freeze for the year. Road casualty deer, hare . No need to give up meat or fish 👍 just take only what you need and respect the animals and fish you take.
Don't worry - Agenda 2030 and all the WEF governments will be getting rid of beef and lamb and covering vast tracts of British farmland with solar panels so you will be eating crickets, lab-grown meat and Monsanto grains.
I noticed that my immediate response to this was, ' this will never happen. Whats the point, the people in power wont listen'. And then I realised that the most powerful thing I can do is to be aware of this negative voice and replace it with a question of 'what can I do to effect this?'
Brilliant! A thing I think would help the average person too - is a series of recipes that if you eat them - you'll get all the nutrition required in a week. (Been vegan 20 years and I think a big barrier is people unused to the diet, within a culture unused to it - sticking to a limited set of meals that doesn't quite meet iron/ zinc/ calcium levels. People know about B12 and D but may sometimes overlook one small nutrient, feel a bit tired and give up completely, when a minor tweak would have helped them feel better than ever). Thanks for all you do!
What our generations leave for the future generations? How did we get so dependent on killing and eating animals and their secretions? Why animal farming is subsidized from our taxes? As a vegan I want my taxes to go to restoring nature, forests and crop farmers not to slaughtering animals. How can we stop these stupid choices others make in our name?
We went plant based years ago and not missing a bit, even my health improved considerably but I did stop drinking alcohol too and reduced stress with meditation and spiritual books. We need so lead and show good examples but at the end everyone needs to decide for themselves. Nature can bounce back quickly if given chance 💚
Well said. Someone needs to take a lead on this and it has to start with the organisations that supposedly support the environment and conservation. Personally, I'm vegan for the animals (just notched up 30 yrs...) and anything that helps grow veganism is good with me 🤘💪🌱
Hello Don Chris Packham let me say that in CHILE FOR A WHILE WE CHILEANS KNOW YOU AS PECOS PAUL KELE THANKS IT IS A RU-vid PROGRAM (DUBBED) WHO EDIT YOUR VIDEOS WITH A HUMOROUS TONE SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE IN THE WORLD CAN HAVE FUN LEARNING SUCH A PECULIAR LANGUAGE, IN CHILE WE APPRECIATE YOU SO GOOD LUCK AND GOOD LUCK IN EVERYTHING, WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD IN CHILEAN AND THANKS TO THE DUBBING IN CHILEAN YOU OR YOUR IMAGE HAVE SHOWED OUR COUNTRY AND SUCH A PARTICULAR LANGUAGE TO THE WORLD, I CAN ONLY SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH, ALTHOUGH IT MAY BE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THOSE VIDEOS, WE STILL THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Sadly he is believing the lie. We are all being purposely poisoned. Every form of life. Stop spraying the crops, stop spraying the skies. Grow and buy local organic produce
Chris please will you tell them about the amount of fields worldwide (of plant food yes), but not grown for human consumption but grown to sustain industrial-scale livestock farms? Give me a small scale, organic, local, regenerative, biodiverse, MIXED farm any day of the week.
Wildlife has been all but destroyed and animals are slaughtered for fun by rich, selfish greedy environmental vandals, their cruelty is off the scale now it's horrendous. Far far too many 'farmed' and caged animals suffer horrific pain in the most barbaric conditions. Humans, those animals, won't stop their cruelty, we can but hope that many more refuse to eat 'meat' and adopt a plant based diet. I think younger people are mistly already on that path. Good luck earth, and dear animals and lets hope the terrible cruelty at the hands of humans is ended pronto.
Industrial anything is a bad idea, I believe that the problems are misuse of resources, the regeneration of land is essential to grow plants for food, if we don’t regenerate the soils from the use of fossil fuel derived agrochemicals the plant foods that people want to eat will have little or no nutritional value. The way to regenerate the soils is to bring back the soil diversity and what does that is animal poo and urine trampled into the soil by mob grazing. Even rewilding requires animals such as bovines, sheep, horses and pigs or boar need to be present as they were before humans started messing about with agriculture just look at Knepp. In Knepp they can’t allow carcasses to lie on the ground and rot so they have to cull and keep the numbers of animals under control because we don’t have apex predators and probably will never be allowed wolves in the U.K.
Shrew mole vole hedgehog fieldmice bagders and many nesting birds share the fields pastures and grasslands with sheep...also the insects and predators like fox weasal raptors ect... And your suggesting ploughing and monoculture?
Because they have no other choice, they are clinging on to a landscape that is just grass and pasture. Where else are they meant to go? Only 2.5% of Wales where I live is actual natural habitat....
@@KelpandFern Replaceing the sheep with crops isn't gonna improve the diversity of nature. Growing fields of protein rich plants will destroy ecosystems that are already in existence.
@@jimmymaher4117 we require 76% less farmland to grow food for our requirements by being vegan, so we would rewild nearly all current land used for animal-agriculture and not put crops on it. He even states this in the video. You also state you have a handful of animals and birds on pasture, but a single oak tree can be home to over 2000 plants and animals....
@@KelpandFern When we eat the peas for example like mentioned in the video. The other animals end up eating the rest of the plant as it is sent for animal feed. The animals faeces are used as a natural nitrogen fertiliser to maintain this cycle.. This large percentage of crops grown for animal feed . Is because animals like chickens horses sheep and cattle are capable of consuming the biomass of plant matter that are not fit for human consumption. Think about it... If you lived on a tiny island. A few goats and pigs grazing back the natural flora would be more environmental than growing crops. Not everyone on the planet can grow crops..they rely on meat and fish etc, It is ludicrous to suggest eating meat is wrong and eating plants is right.
Sadly it’s all gone too far. The only culling that’s asking to be culled is mankind itself. Natures hand has been forced and the elements will do the rest
@@oliverhood7856 I never said it was a small problem, I said it was a small problem COMPARED to the other problems I mentioned, which is the subject of this video. I shan't reply on this again as it is completely circular, and you seem unable to understand the word "compared".
Good luck. Most of us are brought up meat eaters , it’s really difficult to give it up. I am trying. Would love to see a documentary on the pet pet food industry and how that impacts things, just need to luck in the shops at all the pet crap you can buy. 😢
My dogs eat biologically appropriate raw food diet which is 80% muscle meat and 10% offal and 10% bone from animals that are slaughtered that isn't suitable for human consumption, of course we used to eat much more of the animals that we slaughter for meat but now the dogs have this food so little or nothing is wasted. my local farm sends their male calves to the local safari park for the Carnivores. I don't feed my dogs kibble rubbish.
So ask yourself who you want to murder to bring that number down? Who do you trust to tell couples they can't have children? The current projection is that the population will peak at about 10 billion and then slowly decline. There is plenty of space to feed the world. There is not enough space for everyone to have an American style diet or lifestyle.
There are 8 billion humans on the planet, but we can feed 80 billion farm animals, but we don't have to if we ate plants. How is that too many humans? We can reduce our farming land by 76% if we all ate plants instead of animals. Trying to avoid the facts eh?
I hear things here and there about it. What I hear less of is how many animals there are on the planet. 8 billion humans, but 80 billion farmed animals.
So you want to turn back the clock 4.2 million years because that's when we started to leave the forests because meat helped develop our brains to leave the forest you couldn't make this sh@t up
