That's the situation in downtown Edmonton when the majority of the skyscraper condo towers were built in the 60's and 70's and even with the depressed prices a 5/6 city like YEG sees, the fees to keep the places from crumbling far outweigh the mortgage payments in many a case... And with new glassier towers going up every day here (fastest growing city in Canada, second fastest metro in North America after Orlando) there's no incentive to buy into these older, outmoded buildings... So yeah there's going to be a wave of tower demo's for the lot revenue and not much else.
You're absolutely right. my rent. and an upscaled RV. resort. went from 750 a month. to $11.7500 a month. within 24 months. and no sign of stopping. This last round of. increases. about 100 people have decided to pull that trailers out. Something has to give somewhere. You could only stretch that rub a bend so far. And like you have said, fixed. income. is going to be a big problem.
Kudos to the crazy insurance costs. Ours has doubled+ to over 10K a year VS $5500 a year 2 1/2 years ago when we bought. They say it's going up even more!! I'm tired of hearing our HOA members saying, "that's what it is to live in paradise"! I hear that one more time and I'm going to meltdown. Keep it coming!

Grew up in Italian family. Grandma made her own pasta and gravy with fresh tomatoes. I know I’m not going to find Italian food like I’m used to but what I have tried is pure poison. It’s the same with Chinese food here. They just don’t know how to make it
