Bfly Bricks is a haven for Lego fans who don't want to spend a fortune on their hobby. I regularly rebuild & modify existing sets to improve their play-ability and function.
Theme's I collect - Star Wars, Friends, Batman, Movie sets, Ideas, Modular, City.
I've been heavily collecting since 2009 and have almost never paid full price for sets. I'm always looking for a bargain!
Butterfly Cafe was once a highly successful play cafe with play areas, tons of Lego to play with & displays of toys, it ran Lego clubs for kids & focused on doing things on budget, making use of the bricks you have. Goals: 1st actual vid published 22nd March 2020 1st LEGO vid published 28th May 2020
100% yes they are, I did cover that in the review and it's certainly a valid criticism. But I give them a pass on this, as I'd rather have the lovely details and printed elements and the accurate looking pumps than necessitating they make everything minifig scale. Plus I can think of countless Lego sets that have things way way out of scale for minifigs. It's a great set and I wouldn't let it put you off considering purchasing it because of scale
Cheers, that's very kind. I may well do reviews in future, but probably only for non Lego sets that I might get for our city. Kinda like this CADA set. Especially as there are so many great reviewers out there already for conventional Lego stuff.
Imagine spending 109 bucks on genuine Lego? you'd get half as many pieces, worse quality product, no light kit, and a huge sticker sheet instead of quality printed parts.....whos the stupid one?
100% agree, it's not a rip off, it's an original design and they've really done a great job. It's the cost that got me though, it just shows how inflated the prices are for Lego. Cada still have the outlay of tooling parts, manufacturing, designers etc yet their prices are way more reasonable. I foresee them becoming a major challenger to Lego and that's a good thing. Competition is what is needed in the brick built hobby market
Thanks, yeah £86 was a bit of a gamble for me to spend on something that wasn't Lego, but I can honestly say it's worth it. The volume of parts, quality of printing and the lights. There's just no equivalence to this in Lego form. But for sure, if it's on discount get it 😊
Omg this is so good, definitely a vast improvement on the original, the freedom tower build is way better, the subway is nice too. I think you should have done the streets like they are in real life. You managed it with the Tokyo moc, so it would have been nice to do it here. Saying that, its impossible to tell at first glance, so i can see why you did it. Great video, always enjoy your microbuilds 😊
Gosh you know what I didn't realise it was quite so irritating, it's the song, I have put the volume too high on the backing track. But listening to the track now I can hear the constant percussion 'ticking' definitely won't be using that track again. Thanks for pointing this out, cheers
Nice MOC! I also have a LEGO Ambulance MOC as well. And mine is Brick Angeles Ambulances Rescue Medic 1. Mine is a Ford F450 style, as I'm a fan of Ford F-Series trucks.
Chinese restaurant looks ace, it's a cool set but tricky to fit it into a modular city. The consulate moc is next level, the details inside are superb, well thought out. I love the simplicity of the elevator, saves on space which is perfect. The rooftop is my favourite thing you did, totally changes the building. From a 1940s police station to a fancy European building, you nailed it, love it😊
Ha yeah it does look a bit like a pool table, I'm trying to use as many parts from sets I've got sitting gathering dust, so seemed a good idea to use this base as it came from the bonsai tree which we broke up. I recoloured it though, so quite a change. What do you think about the city plaza though? To busy? I like the tiles so didn't want to put too much going on there, so that I can see the tiles
I love the whole concept of building a mini city. The wagon works well & a great idea to reuse bricks from sets you no longer have a use for. Very imaginative ❤
The green pattern tiles are from Ali express. £2.25 for 50 pieces. I did mention that a bit later in the video and show the website etc. I've found all the tiles and parts I've bought from them have been fantastic, great quality, clutch power and the printing is good. I've had a few other bits that haven't been so good, but tiles etc have all been top notch. Hope that helps ☺️
Using old childhood Cypress trees is a nice touch. Quite agree with everyone's sentiments about big bang theory, you made me chuckle 'Penny would on only fans' I actually laughed out loud, so true 😅 I think the plaza is just fine, not too cluttered but it would be nice to have more figures, maybe some children on a day out. Cool store about Afrikaans history, i see why you did the embassy as that old South African country. Are going to do any Scottish things?
Wow Dom this is really gorgeous, those tiles are fab, doesn’t matter that its from Ali express, its such a nice look. Love the explanation of the monuments as i wasn't sure at first what the cart was in reference too, but I do know a bit about the Dutch Cape colony and it's cool that you included stuff about the family. Its a great honour. I hope you do more special things like that in the city. Keep up the amazing work, its really looking beautiful 😍
Awwe thanks Christine, that's so kind. Yeah I'm totally fine with Ali Express as long as it's not directly ripping off Lego and I'm honest about when I've used their parts. Yes I certainly have more references that are personal planned for the city and even street names etc, which I'm ordering soon. Glad you're enjoying the videos 😊
OMG thank you! I feel the EXACT and way about BBT. I cannot for the life of me stand Sheldon Cooper, the actual bully of the group. Howard is a creep. Lenard is such a pushover wimp and Raj is an unfortunate stereotype. I had a brother that loved watching reruns of it and it just grates on my nerves. Thankfully, he just moved out so I don't have to put up with it anymore! 😅 And I'm as old as those cypress trees, my goodness, it's amazing how some lego has withstood the test of time.
100% agree, its right up there with two and a half men, never understood how it got season after season and the laughing tracks are so daft. Big bang is the worst for sure, I saw a crazy video on RU-vid of an episode without the laughing track and its absolutely mental 😂
Hee hee, 😂 I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks big bang is a bin fire ha ha. Made my day. Funny enough I worked with a guy who would watch it on his phone all the time, he never laughed once, just watched it over and over again, I just don't understand why 😄 Talking about parts though, I am so lucky to still have pretty much all the LEGO from our childhood, all my sister's stuff got mixed in with mine, so loads of sets from the very early 80's, and all of it in relatively good condition. I'm quite lucky really, as many parts are hard to buy for reasonable prices. Thanks for the comment, made my day, bloody big bang sucks 😂😂
Yikes two and a half men, yeah I forgot about that show, big pile of pish as well, truly awful, yet I still watched plenty of episodes of both shows 😄😄 I'll definitely have a look at the videos you mention without the laugh track, cheers Christine 😊
The large white panels are from the super secret police drop ship which was from the Lego movie. Brilliant set. Many of the black and white parts are from that set but also some other secret police vehicles sets I've got.
This takes tons of creativity and time. Very nicely done! 👏🏼 I love how compacted everything looks. The diagonal streets take skills! Awesome build and creation!!! 😎
Cheers, I think this is the 6th stadium we've done, its very enjoyable, so definitely will be building more. Lego are mad not to be making micro football stadiums, they'd sell like hotcakes
Wow, that is next level, the consulate rebuild of the police station is really fab! Those top floor windows add a very European feel but I would have made an entire floor with an attic interior, but I understand you're trying to save parts, so fair enough. The Chinese restaurant fits well in that area of the city too, you would think it would look out of place but somehow it works. Well done, looking forward to an indepth video as really keen to see what you've done on the interior 😊
That's very kind, lots of trial and error to get to this point. And I keep changing my mind about where things are going to go 😀 I'd make a terrible mayor, my city planning is all over the place😄
Cheers, yeah I love those tiles. Rather controversial though as they are not Lego. They're from Ali Express. I have been honest about my non lego use in my other videos, as I have also bought grey tiles and masonry bricks from Ali Express. The price difference is unbelievable. I would however never buy knock off fake lego sets, like copies of the modulars. Which you can get from various Chinese sites. To me that's like stealing, as they stole those designs from lego and copied them. A bit like Lepin did. But for standard bricks it's fair game I think, as Lego don't have the patent anymore. I really like the decorated tiles from Ali Express, they were £2.60 for 50 tiles, so I've bought maybe 4or 5 packs, I can't remember, but great value and unique.
Amazing Dom, you've done so much in such a short space of time. I look forward to seeing it in real life at the Summerlee show. Don't know how you'll get it all there though! Its pretty big! Will you add lots of minifigures for the show or are you worried in case they get pinched? Keep up the great work, I've enjoyed it so far 😊
Gosh that's nice to hear. Thanks. Yeah I will put minifigures on the moc, I kinda have to really, but it is a concern sometimes that little kids sometimes take figure or drive vehicles about. You just have to be vigilant. In my experience at all the shows i've been to, no-one is doing it maliciously, I've never seen anyone steal anything from mine or anyone else's MOC. I have had little kids take things and even had the parent return shortly afterwards ha ha, but its not deliberate. Hope to see you at the Summerlee show in Oct, bring the kids, they'll love it. Thanks for the lovely comment as always 😍
@@IdkIdk-lc9lt yeah it's a moc of mine based on the ecto one set, check it out if interested ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RkJqWw27QFw.htmlsi=MHAIDTybhzDRuKrn
Cheers mate for the kind words, I'm doing a city update hopefully this weekend, it's a fun project, but lots of challenges, hopefully lots more future video's, thanks 😊
