Ppl talk abt how this song sounds haunted cause of the tower of terror but what was rlly haunting was that soldiers left for ww2 when this song came out so it’s more a sense of foreboding for the real ppl during ww2
What makes the song even creepier is that the lyrics are changed to the perspective of the dead soldiers Vera Lynn is singing to, rather than Lynn herself.
Has anyone ever said to themselves “if Disneyland park had an interdimensional door for the real Disney dimension, I would go visit the haunted mansion and even potentially own the establishment!"?
I always think of the grown son visiting his Mum with dimentia and she breaks into this song and they both sing it together and she recognizes him as his son for a brief window as they sing, "We'll meet again... don't know where... don't know when... but I know we'll meet again some sunny day..." my heart breaks
So authentic and a beautiful song to match the Tower that one day we will all meet again under a beautiful sun. Rest in Peace to Vera Lynn and The Tower Of Terror DCA version it always get me tearing up all the time.
I love the idea of Leota & Ghost Host working together on the tour, with her introducing him and keeping us company until he shows up Also: I love her voice for little Leota at the end (after hearing her unused version, I kind of prefer her version of the Final Cut)
The solos are by Johnny Hodges on soprano sax, Charles(Cootie) Williams on muted trumpet, Lawrence Brown on trombone and Harry Carney on baritone sax, with Ellington comping perfectly on piano. They followed a similar formula a year later in the full orchestra recording of Country Gal.
i find it odd that im nostalgic for this, even though i wasn't even born in the time period when this type of music would come out. something about the calming melody throughout the song just brings me back but an idea i may have for my nostalgic feel for this song may be the fact that i love jazz, and most old Christmas songs are sorta jazz i would say. what im trying to get at here, is that this song brings me back to when i was a kid, listening to christmas songs, and enjoying my time surrounded by family.
I’ve been in this ride with my daughter about 15 times already but I’m still scared when queuing for it 😅. Will visit Disneyland next week again. Can’t wait to feel the drop again.
