Never allow yourself to be blackmailed. If you allow it, you are a slave to the blackmailer forever. The Russian Mafia is at the very edge of slaughtering everyone in America using the weapon of blackmail. They entrapped some of our police decades ago you see, and sicced them on unknown numbers of noncriminal civilians who had no experience with mafia tactics, has entrapped and is entrapping our people and now, I believe, owns tens of millions of us, who they'll force to vote as ordered: a coup. Some of the GOP Base are slaves of the Russian Mafia, I know because they tried to entrap me. Never vote for a proKremlin candidate. The Russian Mafia is evil. They will destroy us if we let them. They tried to blackmail me with beastiality. I'm not into beastiality but if I were, I'd stand before the world and admit it while warning the world's innocent about the Russian Mafia's plan to annihiliate nearly 500 million people in America, to steal our land, our weapons, our resources, our country, our infrastructure and our assets, while laughing with delight. It's irononic so many wealthy people are proKremlin, the Russian Mafia will just slaughter them and their children, and steal their wealth. Their wealth won't protect them, yet the Russian Mafia cons them into thinking orherwise. We've got a determined enemy and we're unprepared. Everyone must be warned or everyone in America, even proKremlin Americans, will be slaughtered. I wish I was mistaken. I'm sorry.
Methinks of 🇵🇸❕The Irish suffered 8 centuries over 🇬🇧 rule. (⬅️flag of today), oppressed ‼️ Differences, indeed, but it's the same thing, to have your very lives to live freely as a human being ‼️
I can watch this Series over and over and again! Which I do! I put my earphones and listened to it every single night! Like a bed time story. I've seen it so much I don't need to see the screen it's all imprinted in my head! I😂❤
I always thought this would happen to me......but then I got married and alot worse happened! Watch what you wish for you just might get it! And then alot of other bad things happened and the list just goes on and on! And I still don't what I've done to deserve it!😢
I love how Mary’s character grew as she fell in love with Matthew. At the beginning she was young, flirty, and a little snobby, selfish. But then when the war came and Matthew was hurt and she was even telling Lavinia to keep trying with Matthew even when he didn’t want to marry her. I love her character ♥️
As an Irish patriot in the U.K. myself, knowing the history about the events around the struggle for Irish freedom in 1916, I really empathise with this storyline, as by this stage, the British establishment had really begun to totally abuse their position of power in Ireland 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪💔😪😔
Begun. Ok, sure. Ever hear of The Pale? The Flight of the Earls? Oliver Cromwell? The Potato Famine? The Williamite Wars? The Penal Laws? The Act of Settlement? Fun and games, I guess. The abuse began in the 20th century.
THE REAL SOLUTION IS HAVE ALL THREE GIRLS MARRY RICH AMERICANS, WHO CAN REINVEST IN THE PROPERTY, MARY MARRYING MATTHEW NEVER MADE ANY SENSE, HE IS POORER THAN HER,
4:46 I wish the line about “Baker’s dozen” had been included regarding this bit! Anna’s indignation about the shopkeeper’s judgement was very hilarious!
So many people would give anything to go out the way she did: old, in her right mind, physically comfortable, surrounded by so much love, and speaking truth.
I always found it odd that Tom was so insistent that his baby be baptized Catholic yet when he married the second time he couldn't have cared less what kind of a church it was in.
Honestly, I can't blame Robert for being mad at Tom. I would feel the same if the husband or couple of my daughter abandons her while being pregnant, in another country
It's IRELAND, not exactly a third world hell-hole. Robert has turned a complete blind eye to the fact that Sybill is an intelligent, self-willed and competent person of her own. She is in no danger, and Tom is. Would he expect Tom to, say, take out the garbage, or undertake household repairs, if he were sick and she healthy? Robert is insulting his own daughter, by treating her like a helpless infant who cannot function without her husband, to the degree that it's better for him to be with her in jail, than both of them free, but separate.
Lord Grantham asserting his Father-in-law status by orderingTom: "Go to bed!...I'll give you my answer in the morning."....Tom looks like a little boy who just got grounded....yet later in the series, Lord Grantham grows to love Tom and is overjoyed when he returns from America to stay in Downton permanently. 😎
I don't think Branson should have been welcomes into the family I mean sure he impregnated Sybil but he is a commoner and not a member of the gentry so he should have not been part of the aristocratic household.
If you watch the series from beginning to end, you realize that the show isn't just about aristocracy. It's about the changing of time from one era to another and how the world, of all classes, learned to change and adapt with the times. Whether that meant large households like Downton getting smaller and smaller or even closing altogether or marrying outside of your class or embracing technology, the story is about change, growth and adaptation in the face of uncontrollable social, economic and technological advancement.
Oh goodness, of course there were situations like this that happened. They never had to actually deal with Sybil being out in society with Branson as her husband, because she sadly died, but they would have shown the snubbing and difficulties I'm sure... He certainly was not WELCOMED into the family. And he didn't just 'impregnate' Sybil. They got married in Ireland, and Mary and Edith mentioned attending. Cora then found out that Sybil was pregnant and was thrilled. She told Robert she would not be kept away from her first grandchild. This scene, above, was the one time people thought badly of Tom - until Sybil arrived in the morning to defend their decision.
I was screaming at Isobel for over stepping her boundaries regarding how Downton should be used. It's their home, not hers. She has no right or authority. Use of it for war times is one thing but beyond.
