Tai chi is more effective against grapplers applying actual combat pressure, in fact against effective grapplers is the best way to actually learn effective and realistic Tai chi, against muay Thai is a great way to train effective wing chun

Look im no muay thai expert, ive never even stepped foot in a musy thai gym(?), but i have watched approximately 2 mauy thai fight not even all the way through, and ive seen them close distance exactly as you're describing they don't. Im sure wing chun has it's merits, almost everything does, but its very odd to me that someone would make up such a blatant lie to sell their martial art over another.

I’ll add to my previous comment by saying that I have studied wing Chun and still use certain principles. However I’m a realist and I understand that it’s incomplete in its own.

Wing Chun has its uses, but you really need better Muay Thai coaches. Watch someone like Saenchai to understand how to manage distance. You can take your pick of any wing Chun master to fight Saenchai or Buakaw and I guarantee they will be done in about 20 seconds. As I said, wing Chun has some use, but fighting is not like a Donnie Yen movie.

Thank you and good point on upper body distance positional striking... One of my 3 primary MA's I practice (Latosa Escrima) requires to bring the strike fwd first just slightly before stepping as to avoid any possibility of telegraphing and better opportunity to shift for an unwanted execution response such as the opponent moving or effectively countering. BTW, impressive bio on your website.

I transcribed it for you so you can see how it reads like nonsense: It’s just an idea where you’re saying at the moment you step forward if you’re standing here you say 1,2 the hit/head (? he points to his head but the subtitles say “hit”) now this hand is the one that leads bam I put myself in a stronger base of support I’m moving forward I turn it’s just a turn of the body where you’re leaving the knee in within with it bam bam so you’re just getting here bam bam strike

i think youre being disingenuous about how muay thai actually works. In all real combat styles and combat sports, you are looking for advantage. Resetting to neutral in a combat sport is more about pacing than anything and some people even take advantage of that to launch surprise attacks
