I love the attention to authentic Spanish organ practice while also adding some more modern elements. I think my only complaint would be that the soprano is a bit overpowering compared to the alto & quegli sotto, but that could also be a product of the recording and my headphones too!
Played at the end of the service in Chichester Cathedral, 7//74. Wondrous. Jehan Alain was a War hero for the French Army killed aged 29 leaving behind his wife and three children. God bless him.
Whatever you think of the performance (personally I find it excellent but a shade fast) it's astonishing to learn that the late Mr Coriddi was self-taught.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. This arrangement was written by Robert Hebble and was published in a book entitled, "Robbert Hebble's Hymnal Companion," published by Bradley Publications. Tragically, it is out of print. There are used copies that show up online periodically but I couldn't find any when I was looking today. Mr. Hebble was an extraordinary composer, arranger and organist.
does not sound like a pipe organ no matter how hard you try to convince yourselves that it does. there are excellent digital instruments that do come very close. Allen is still considered to be at the top of this technology which can run upwards of $100,000 dollars. They provided an organ for St. Peters Basilica in Rome and also one for St. John the Divine, NYC. (A temporary loan as the Skinner was being "fixed Up".)
Bravo Bravo! Well Done Indeed! Forget Going To The Gym For A WORKOUT! Just Be A Organist! One of my favorite hymns, you have played SO very beautifully. The words are so comforting and suit the melody so perfectly. Thank you for sharing your wonderful musical talent.
