The first 5 minutes of history class are tough. Students have to shift their mindset from the previous subject they were just in to now studying the past. Teachers have basic procedural duties they have to attend to such as taking attendance, writing passes, getting materials together for class, catching up with that student that was absent, and the list goes on and on. The Daily Bellringer offers a simple solution through short 3-6 minute videos which teachers can use to get students thinking about the history topics to come or ones that were recently covered. Each video will offer details and history which teachers may not be able to get to in class. Below each video is a set of questions for students to answer as they watch the video. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SEVERAL COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS AND AT LEAST ONE CRITICAL THINKING QUESTION IN THE DESCRIPTION. Share the link with your students, have them pop in their earbuds and get class started right! MORE VIDEOS WILL BE ADDED WEEKLY!

President Johnson stood almost alone against Thaddeus Stevens and his vindictive reconstruction policies. He, like Lincoln, wished for reconciliation between the North and South. After a dozen years of reconstruction the cruelty and corruption of the radicals led to the rejection of reconstruction. I can not think of another President who stood against overwhelming odds for principle. He was a great man.

My ancestor Betsy (Griscom) Ross did made the very first American Flag. She was a quaker. The original 13 stars represent the 13 colonies that gained it's independence from the British in the American Revolution War!! Keep flying, honor, and cherish the American Flag!!!

Maybe digging into the original rule or law and then coming forward to the time of fiat money and the loss of the petrodollars... what exactly Is the ... on Wall street does the dollar mean the same thing as Federal currency? How does something get declared Federal currency? What's the standard? Is it all become just another form of virtual Reality? The whole mess becomes muddied just like the judicial branch or system. Many blessings.

I really enjoyed this video. Id love to hear more about the red scare in the 50s....when teachers were fired for fear they would indoctrinate, rather than educate. My Pop increased funding for education, and was behind the firing of teachers suspected of communistic indoctrination.Seems as if this disgusting infiltration happened anyway ,in the public school system.

Sorry, but you are misinformed. Carpetbaggers were hated because they changed all of the historical records in the Southern states. Thereby, they changed the entire narrative of the war. If the American Civil War (called the War Of Northern Aggression by Southerners) was about Racism, why did the Confederate Army consist of so many blacks, and natives? My ancestors were the natives (Choctaw), who were betrayed by the Union, forced to Reservations (Prison Camps) after many attempts to assimilate into the Union peaceably. Therefore, my ancestors freely enlisted into the Confederate Army. Truth is, Secession of the Southern States (originally) had nothing to do with Slavery. Again... this is the product of Carpetbagger Law. The Southern States chose to peaceably secede from the Union because of the formation of the New York Stock Exchange (Buttonwood Agreement in 1792), which predates the problems that led to the Civil War by about 20-25 years. The Northern States had already maximized the profits from their lands, and there was no 'new' cultivation that could be done. However, the development of these new enormous plantations in the southern states showed potential for such profits, that the southern states would certainly carry more influence politically (Lobbying/aka Bribery). The southern states saw brokering as nothing more than a way for a dishonest person to profit from an honest person. The collaboration of minds at the NYSE decided the only way to hurt the Southern farmers was to remove their workforce. This was the only reason for slavery to have anything to do with the Secession. Wall Street originally had an exchange rate and organized the trade of slaves. As said before, their land could not be cultivated any further. Therefore the biggest commodity of the northern states was the slave trade. Im not sure if most people understand, but Lee was winning. The Confederacy was winning the war. Lee was conducting raids into the Northern interior, cutting off supply lines to DC. Washington DC was surrounded by Confederate Armies and cut off. Lee left orders to 'Starve Them Out', but General Early wanted 'Glory'. Early's Army was the first Confederate army to arrive. The rest (including Lee's own) would arrive in the following weeks. By the time Lee did arrive, the battle for that hill was so bloody, that Lee just couldnt continue that campaign any further. Because the Union came so close to losing the war, they sent the Carpetbaggers in an attempt to make sure the Confederacy could never rise again. Their primary mission was to change the history of what came to be, and to demonize the Confederacy so that future people would hate the Confederacy, and fear peaceful Secession. Here is food for thought. .. If a state is not allowed to Secede from the Federal Union, isnt that state not free to chose, and by definition, isnt that state a slave to the Union??

My family, on my father's side, emigrated from France, to Bloomfield New Jersey, known then as the poulabet's. They introduced the pipe organ to America. There's still many descendants of the poulabet's in Bloomfield. I grew up in West Caldwell and remember visiting the Grover Cleveland birthplace in Caldwell as a child, which is located on Bloomfield Ave.

I am still wondering why the hearts of the slave traders and perpetrators of Jim Crow were so dark, wicked and evil? And I am even more concerned about the contemporary Trumplikkkan party members fanning the flame of this plague in America. Ron Desantis, Tony Abbott and their likes are abhorrent human beings in this regard.

Here's what they don't and won't tell you... Spain funded the Yorktown campaign paying both the French and Continental soldiers who hadn't been paid for several months and years causing several mutinees and also paid and refurbished Degrasse's French fleet allowing Degrasse to travel to both the Chesapeake and later Yorktown which Spain also had a huge role in the military planning which is why the Spanish Ambassador was invited to the Yorktown victory celebration in October of last year 2023! Spain protected French possessions in the Caribbean allowing Degrasse to travel to his destination freely without worry! Spanish General Bernardo de Gálvez was kind and generous enough to release his own French troops under Spanish command and ALLOWED Degrasse to take them to go reinforce Rochambeau at Yorktown! Bernie didn't have to do that but he was very generous! True, no Spanish troops fought at Yorktown but that's okay. They didn't have to. Glory was already achieved in the Atlantic and Pensacola! Luis de Cordova's victory in August 9 1780 capturing 55 British ships and over 3,000 British prisoners many of which were about 2,000 British soldier reinforcements, 80,000 muskets, 300 cannons and equipment enough for about 40,000 British troops that could have been used against American forces! Two months later the Great Hurricane 🌀 of 1780 that destroyed several British ships and heavy loss of life! In 1781 Louisiana Governor Bernardo de Gálvez defeated the British at Pensacola capturing over 1,000 British prisoners! Cordova's victory, Great Hurricane 🌀 of 1780 and Bernie's conquest of Pensacola greatly weakened and demoralized the British! By the time Yorktown arrived the British were already weak! Tired! A mere 8,000 men-with alot less British troops! The path was set! An easy victory for the combined French and American army! 🇺🇲 The American Revolution was a world global war! Over 100,000 Spanish soldiers and sailors fought against the British worldwide helping the 13 Colonies win their independence! At least 17,000 Spanish troops fought in the Southern theater in Florida and the Caribbean! Spain also sent muskets to Saratoga in coordination with the French in 1777! Spain sent weapons and cannons and supplies to the American Colonies inside French ships from France! So when the ships arrived everyone assumed the entire cargo was only French lol! Huge mistake but understandable! Spain tipped the balance in favor of the American Colonies!

Excellent commentary! Thank you for speaking the truth to the state of our Union (north and south attitudes towards slavery) before and during the Civil War, and what the Emancipation Proclamation actually accomplished. The Emancipation Proclamation did not abolish slavery in the Union, but did change how (or why from the Government impetus) the Civil War was fought on the Union side from January 1, 1863 going forward. Thank goodness for the 13th Amendment!!!

1. An executive order signed that states that all enslaved people in rebelling states would be free. 2. True 3. Based upon his power as commander-in-chief. 4. He had to issue the proclamation after a major union victory. 5. The civil war chnaged the Emancipation proclamation by issuing it after that war ended.

1. Because Manassas Junction had an important strategic railroad that would open the door to getting Richmond 2. By naming the battles by body’s of water or streams for the Union, but for the Confederate’s, they name the battles after closest towns. 3. Stonewall Jackson 4. George McClellan 5. Because it was a disorganized mess from the beginning troops on both sides were not really well trained.

I love what you do but if you could please make a video about the Narragansett Indians of Rhode Island it would be greatly appreciated we have a rich history and we are often forgot about our tribe suffers at the hands of this state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations( I mean come on just 👀 at the name of the state) our people are poverty stricken underfunded the elderly and the young alike are suffering we get absolutely nothing besides racism and negative stereotypes I’m not asking for a handout but I am asking for what all the other tribes have and that is a way to create revenue to take care of our own people we have a right to build casinos we had a tobacco house and we were selling cigarettes and the state police and the local police came in to all of our tobacco stores and assaulted our tribal members elderly women and all police dogs biting people you should look it up !!! We also helped the settlers in this area settle down we showed them how to survive and intern they sent us to fight a war while we are away fighting their war they took their soldiers came to our encampment and murdered all of the women and children these are the type of people that we are dealing with and they have not changed !!!
