Thank you for the video. Since Delaware is the first state...you may be able to make a case for our nation to be called the United States of Delawaria. Something else that I find interesting is that instead of using Amerigo's last name Vespucci...the German cartographer opted for Amerigo. Whereas, While the nation's capitol along with Washington state are called Washington and not George D.C. nor George state. Instead of complaining about the U.S. control of the monikers "America" & "Americans" the other governments and land masses in the northern hemisphere should be satisfied that they didn't become the 51st, 52nd, and 53rd United States of America. May God Bless America and everyone else too!

I thought you were going to address why you guys (USA citizens) hoard the term "American" for yourselves when it should describe people from the whole continent as it happens with Asians, Africans and Europeans. Those terms describe multiple nations of a same continent, and so should "American". That's why people dislike it when you United-Statians call yourselves "American". That's only more Amerocentrism showing right there. It's no one else's fault in this continent that your founding fathers couldn't be creative, or not be late to Columbia/Colombia, or use a native name instead of a European one. Yet your video was a super basic history lesson that even I, not being from the USA, already know.

Lol. It’s because the United States of America is the ONLY country in BOTH North and South America to have the word “America” in its name, hence why we’re called Americans.

You should be asking why the people of the United States refer to themselves alone as "Americans" and their country as "America" when everyone in this hemisphere is every bit as American and we all live in America from Alert to Tierra del Fuego. Even Nazi Germany wasn't arrogant enough to refer to itself _alone_ as "Europe". When Columbus "discovered" *America,* he landed in the Bahamas, not the Bronx.

We're technically the United States of America. Every other country in the Americas has their country name and a moniker that their people are known by. We call ourselves Americans because the official name of our country is too bulky for every day use
