Your church can have a great livestream without spending a fortune.
I'm Josh, and I'm here to help make your church livestream great on a budget. Through buying the right gear, building DIY solutions, and training better volunteers, your livestream can be elevated to the next level on a budget that anyone can afford.
When I set something as the source for the background in the Art tab, it doesn't show up in the background. When I change it to foreground, it shows the source, but then disappears when I switch back to background, leaving my with a black background. Any thoughts on this?
@@budget-church-livestreamingWhat I'm asking is whether I need to add a lead-in graphic before the sermon reel - the sermon reel - after the reel a graphic that shows our church logo? Or just post the edited reel?
@@MrTerryRay1 I mean you can definitely add a graphic if you want. But sometimes that can make it feel too produced and too much like an ad, so it may cause people to scroll past. But really do whatever you want and test different things!
@@budget-church-livestreaming Thank you for your helping me to understand this. One more question please? When do you post your reel? Same day, mid week? Other?
@@MrTerryRay1 we usually post it on Tuesday or Wednesday! We're currently working towards a more structured posting schedule and I wouldn't necessarily recommend copying what we do now haha
The random suggested video that I never asked for but always needed and am glad found me. 😅 Gonna try this instead of my weird braid that’s fun but prob is bad for my cables.
I too have the USB C issue. I’ve reached out as well for a firmware update to hopefully make it work. I’ve seen mixed results with others. It works for some but not for many. Bummer because other than that, the unit seems pretty solid for my needs.
We got the pyro H to upgrade from our mars 300 pro. And the image quality is so much worse. Less detail, pixalated, and just a disappointment. We might go with the teradek ace 750 for just $400 more. Thoughts?
Got the teradek 750... Much better quality, no compression problems, no delay. I returned the hollyland. Probably never going back to any other products for wireless transmission
This all looks very good until you try to use this software on less powerful computers. I tested this software using a Lenovo T480 with an i5 processor running W10. It wasn’t a very good experience; it felt like the interface was really sluggish. It freezes all the time, and when you play a music video, the audience preview is delayed. The most interesting thing is that those who will use this type of software are churches that have a small budget. So it makes no sense to expect this software to be used on high-end computers.
2024 PSA: For those who can, use the web installer. (Using Chrome) The process is WAY simpler and no need for Arduino. For some reason I kept getting error messages with the Arduino process, but had zero difficulty with the web installer 🙌🏼 It’s kind of crazy how well these work and how they have zero latency 🤯
Holly land a terrible company one of the worst. They release half finished products just to beat the competition and then a few months later release an updated version.
Wow this is by far the most sophisticated approach yet. We've just been writing a course on live camera production, and have come to the conclusion that having a Tally system is the absolute minimum a team need for communication. Our other solution if there's one controlled camera, is to send a feed from the multi-view to a screen for them to monitor, but that's a lot of cables, equipment and messing about, and far less intuitive compared with your solution here. Thank you
Thank you so much for this Video. Did this process in 2024 and the install process is now so much better, click click click and walla, software is installed. Its so smooth. I love the new process. I would recommend everyone to do this for cheap tally lights. We also used a 430 ohms resister and its working perfectly. You are very inspirational sir.
I also ended up using your 3D file for the case Thank you for all you do for church ministry and the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. you are very inspirational. From Zimbabwe (in Africa)
Great presentation! Liked and subscribed. We use ProPresenter right now but as you say, good thing to have in your pocket for a church plant or an event outside the church.
Thank you so much for the video. It’s a great blessing to our church. Can you please make another video using the LED strip and addressable LED…? That would be a great help for many of us. Thank you .. Appreciate your work
I have been using mine for four years and they are brilliant, I have tried many other brands and these are great, but I do need to go outside the church a lot, as I mainly do funerals but only want to take a lightweight camera, not my broadcast unit and sound gear was thinking of trying the new dji system even though it has four frames of latency, would still use my Ace system as well.
Can you please recommend motorized pan & tilt heads for a good budget if you want to remote controll normal cameras? Seems to me that it would be cheaper to just buy a DJI Ronin 4 for 600 Dollars rather than spending 2000 Dollars on all these high end pan & tilt heads :/
Cosmo c1 just seems to be a better standard than the pyro. Would have bought a pyro s, but now i just might buy another c1 or the new ace since the spark is discontinued. Teradek are just way better, but u pay for it. @@budget-church-livestreaming
Edit: I misspoke towards the beginning of the video when I stated annual prices for ProPresenter. It is $400 for the first year, and $189/yr to continue getting updates ($1000 and $469/yr for the campus license). Thanks to everyone who pointed out that misstep, and sorry it took so long to put this comment here addressing it. I'll try to research the exact pricing a little more closely next time!
Great honest review (rare these days) I mean probably don't expect any free Hollyland products haha but props for the actual facts. I agree you get what you paid for and Teradek are industry standard for a reason. You need to make a best of budget wireless video transmission, being in a stage environment your have the ability to build a controlled set of contrast, colour, and distance. Put all these "pro" wireless companies on notice!
Thanks! I try my best to present with honesty. Yeah, that'd be a good idea! I'll write that one down. And hopefully they still send me stuff. We've been in contact and they seem to be very receptive of the feedback. Hoping they actually improve from it!
Not the picture quality (it's pretty consistent with my previous experience with their products). I did ask about the USB C issue and they sent me a new firmware version, but not until I had already made the video and I haven't had time to try it out yet unfortunately
Pro presenter license is a one time purchase of $399, with an optional ongoing support and update option at a decent price. I’m the pastor of a church plant with about 30-40 people, and we’ve prioritized this cost in our budget. You’re also not including the context that to unlock ProPresenter’s feature set in Pro6 cost over $2,000, which is not palatable for most smaller churches. Now, you can get Pro7 FULLY featured for $400, and it would take 10 additional years before you match the total investment of Pro6. Appreciate your perspective, but please don’t mislead people away from proven, tested, software with half-truths.
I don't see much benefit in comparing it to the older version...Pro7 has been out for YEARS at this point. Would you mind sharing what half-truths you heard? I feel like this was a pretty fair review of the capabilities of a free piece of software (I literally showed it crashing). I even said it's not for everyone, including my own church. And while you can prioritize Pro7 in your budget, some churches just don't have that option, so it's good for them to know that there are other avenues! For even extra context, I used to attend a church plant that didn't have budget for ProPresenter, so something like this would have been great, even with its flaws. We didn't need something perfect, but something better than PowerPoint would have been nice.
If the half-truth was in regards to the pricing of ProPresenter, that's honestly my bad, I didn't fully realize (I'm not the one with the credit card at my church). I've pinned a comment addressing that. Thanks for pointing it out!
Please forgive me for the rudeness in my first comment. “Half-truth” was harsh, and uncalled for, and I’m sorry for being a jerk about it. If you don’t mind, I’ll share some perspective of why that really struck a nerve. I’m a Sr. Pastor now, but I’ve spend most of the last 20 years in the booth. I’m a professional audio engineer first, but eventually made my way into Tech Director roles, working in churches ranging from 10 people to 2-3,000 weekly attendance. I can’t count the times that there was a LEGITIMATE need for the tech team (regardless of church size) and the request was denied because A) we had something that “worked” (even if it didn’t really), or B) the pastor had seen something on the internet that is “just as good, and it’s free, so we’re not paying for that.” Again, I’m so sorry for being a jerk earlier, and I SUPER appreciate your grace and humility. Thanks for reminding me, and being a good example of how to handle haters. The irony is, I’m in the early stages of planning a new channel focused on helping small churches, and I definitely didn’t extend the grace that I’d hope people extend me one day. I went back and watched most of your video again, and you make killer content. You got a like on this video from me, a new subscriber, and hopefully a friend :)
@@buster1387 hey man, thanks for coming back in such a kind and humble way, I appreciate it. I definitely get that perspective! It's frustrating to not have the tools you need to get the job done, especially if you can truly afford them. This video is realistically not meant to sway anyone who's already using ProPresenter. It's more to bring awareness of other options to people who think it's the only way, but they can't afford it. And also to bring awareness to a cool project so that hopefully people help support making it better! I don't want people to use broken things just because they're cheap. I just want people to see that they don't necessarily need to have the very latest and greatest of everything. Thanks again for your response, it's rare to see on RU-vid 😂 hope your new channel goes well, reach out if you'd ever like to collab on anything!
One stressfull moment with our stream was when a Windows bluescreen error poped on the PC that was handling lower-thirds, but because the atem was streaming on it's own it wasn't so bad.😅 It just took forever to be able to retart the PC
Hi Josh, just was watching some of your older videos and coming back here for more wisdom and knowledge. Like I said in our previous message exchange, we were working with miscellaneous of Sony cameras (1x HXR-MC2000, 1x FDR AX53, 2x A6000 +16-50mm and 1x CX330) so we wanted to upgrade to Lumix. Meanwhile we already bought x2 G80's and I'm now looking for lenses... After coming back to this precise video for wisdom, I have one question... Do you recommend to buy lenses that have a maximum value of f2.8 ? Or could we still go slightly higher than that ? Our church's stage is well lit (in my opinion) but it's still not bright day light... Thanks once again for your great work, you have inspired us to do even better. God bless.
Honestly it all depends on your particular situation! We don't always sit at f2.8, especially because it makes focusing a little harder. I'd recommend getting something and trying it out!
@@budget-church-livestreaming ok, thanks for your advice, one of the G80's we purchased will come with the 12-60mm kit lens, let's see how is works. I was just a bit afraid that it would be too dark, and I would have to bump up the ISO. I'll give it a try and let you know how it went. Thanks once again.
