This is our third sighting, the first one was in 2015 and second one was in 2018. They certainly don't come around very often so it is always a delight to see a wild leucistic Opossum here in SE Wisconsin!
Hello. Maybe u explained already but I was just curious as to why there is only one overflow tube . If the barrels are self leveling wouldn’t they all require an overflow ? I am planing on following your specifications . Approximately 10 barrels going in a slight incline . Which barrel would require the overflow tube, first, last, Or all of them ? Great work
Beautiful! Here i have been subscribed to you for awhile not even knowing that you are from Wisconsin. We are probably close enough to be neighbors, I'm from Fond du lac.😂😂😂❤
Hello, thank you for your interest. Walker was not a daughter of Bossy. Bossy was one of our early wild Opossums and she taught us a lot about Opossum behavior. Bossy passed away 03/02/2015 under our deck. The temperatures were quite cold, and we were able to review Bossy's final hours through the camera's recordings. We are not sure what happened, we wondered if Bossy might have been hit on a road and made her way back to the safety of our deck. We inspected her body, but did not find any sign of injury. Poisoning is another fear, and without doing a full autopsy, there is no way to know exactly what happened. I communicated with the Director of the Wis Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and he noted that a number of Opossum were being reported deceased at that time due to age and the frigid temperatures. Bossy is buried in a place of honor on our property, which took substantial effort as the ground was frozen solid at the time!
I'm not a huge raccoon fan because they pass round worm on to my squirrels. In fact i have one squirrel with the deadly virus now. That being said, this is so very sad to see. No animal should have to go through this and my guess is he ate his arm off from a trap. Hand traps should be outlawed. Poor little guy.
John, it was good that you pointed out Baylisascaris, an intestinal raccoon roundworm that can infect humans and a variety of other animals. Rabies, another disease that can be transmitted by raccoons, is a single-stranded RNA virus that is transmitted by contact with the saliva of an infected animal, which may occur directly through a bite or by contamination of a scratch or wound with the animal’s saliva.
@@CritterFarm yeah, i have one squirrel that has it. Not too often i get to see him but he can't even bury a nut. He looks like he is drunk when i do get a glimpse of him. Every time i go to video record him he takes off. Such a shame 😞.
They are very sweet. Thank you for not relocating them. Seventy percent of all relocated wildlife die a miserable death. Instead, you are giving them a chance for life.
Thank you. Your video and system are the most detailed, flexible and simple system I’ve seen. I especially like the way you shielded it from public view - very elegant. The information on how you hooked them up and including the part descriptions and numbers is very helpful. I have my 10 barrels and as soon as it quits raining I’m going to hook them up (didn't get them in time for the first big rain).
