There's also a mobility flight. They did mostly TDYs. They would do all those sections but in one small traveling group. Usually in some cool city or country. If you're single, thats the best flight to be in.
My grandfather and father bother served in the air force. My grandfather during Vietnam while my father during Desert Storm. Growing up around the culture, I would have some experience with the BDU's from my father. M81 Woodland and three color desert will always be nostalgic patterns for me. I feel like they went backwards somewhat when it came to the digital camo era. The air force kept the same BDU style but went to a digital tiger stripe with the ABU's. Also they removed the squadron and unit badges altogether it seems and they went with something more simple, which is a plus. But that's the heritage and what makes the air force stand out from the other branches, so it is nice they brought them back with the OCP's. I do like the OCPs and had some experience with one with the zippered side pockets. I do find the Velcro much more simple but there is just something satisfying having everything sewn on. Also having the rank on the sleeves stands out more compared to just having it on your chest. I do like how they brought back the blousing ties to the OCP bottoms like the BDU bottoms. I have to say the digital tiger stripe is unique in its own way even though it joins the camp of the Army UCP and grandma's couch or a gravel lot. I have also noticed in the early generation ABU label there is a misspelling and a little further down, a double space. I did enjoy the video, you have a great energy and it was good to hear your own pros and cons between both uniforms.
I've seen a couple versions of the ABU, one is more sandy in color, and the ones you wear are more white-ish. Where can i find to buy the white-ish version you are wearing? Thanks
The abu’s definitely look a lot better but the ocp seems more functional. If they took some of the concepts from the ocp and moved them to the color and look of the abu you would have the best combo you could have.
although one person in the comments mentioned how the OCP's velcro is extremely noisy and could compromise stealth movement. Which is a good point.... so maybe the older ABU uniform is a win win....
I was in the Guard for awhile. The new OCPs being issued has the same design and cut as the Army ACUs. See in this link: "ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BU9sP159K_I.html." There is nothing about this uniform that can be used in a field environment. Velcro is not tactically sound and wears out. Zippers are not tactically sound. It is essentially a set of ACUs with an improved camo pattern. I would imagine your SF bubbas would have their own 2 cents to chip in about them.
They still look like damn pajamas. Why does the Air Force need camo? I had the solid green fatigues back in my day and I think they look more professional.
