although one person in the comments mentioned how the OCP's velcro is extremely noisy and could compromise stealth movement. Which is a good point.... so maybe the older ABU uniform is a win win....

Hi Mel. One note: USAF Security Police do have a combat mission. I'm sure you saw Security Police (SP's) wearing the BDU when they came out in the early 1980s before everyone began to wear them. The PJ;s, CCT, TACP, and Combat Weather also wore the various types of camouflage uniforms over the years. On my first and third tours in PACAF, I wore Camo as a Military Working Dog Handler (Viet Nam and Korea). The camouflage made sense since much of what we did was at night. Viet Nam pattern camo was comfortable and dried out fast, the BDU was great in colder drier weather. I got into a mild hassle when I reported to Lowrey AFB in 1978 when I had a range day and my OD fatigues were still being set up and wore my camo uniform with subdued patches for weapons qualification. . My 1st Sgt had never seen that uniform combination, he settled down when I showed him my receipts for clothing sales and the tailor shop and explained that it was an authorized uniform in certain locations and our Operations Officer confirmed the uniform was authorized.. It also saved some of our new squadron members coming in from Korea and the Philippines who had been wearing camouflage for a year or more. While stationed with MAC a lot of SP's; myself included; were required to keep aircrew uniforms for fly-away security missions (not a fan of flight suits but loved the jackets). Long and short, times change, requirements change, postures change. It is a different and more dangerous world today. Thanks for your service. Stay healthy and enjoy. MSgt, Security Police, Retired.

Don't let the uniform be a deciding factor in your decision, uniforms change every few years, for some people this is the third, fourth, or even 5th (for the really old guys) uniform that they have worn for either garrison on deployed use.

@@KerenJoy lol that's weird they didn't give you the right ones, in the army they're very specific but luckily you got them altered. If it was possible to put a picture on here I'd show you my girlfriends ocp top to show you the difference. The male sizes in both top and bottoms say medium-regular etc and females say for ex 33-small just a tip for next time lol!

Personally I think if they're going to wear duty uniform it should be plain grey or blue, but if it has to be camo for when they're operating in the field with the Army then it makes sense to use the same camo as the Army are using. One for the cost effectiveness of the gear and equipment all matching in colour and being from the same supplier, but also so they can't be singled out as Air Force by enemies watching from afar. I do agree having a larger insignia on the sleeve looks more visually appealing, but I think the move to chest insignia is to be inline with how most of NATO is doing it, helps in identifying rank if everyone instinctively knows it's in the same place on the uniform regardless of nationality and branch.

Deandre Reeves as of right now they’ve starting issuing them to people deploying, they’ll be starting to issue them to people in basic training some time next year and for guard and reserve it’s whenever their units decide to buy them. But as for the rest I’m not too sure. As far as I know people have begun buying them for themselves

B L my OCP top is just a pretty big size. I opted for a small instead of an extra small because I wanted the extra room. I’ll get it tailored a bit smaller

Keren Joy I have a list of jobs I’d like to try and get but I haven’t talked to a recruiter/ taken the asvab yet so I’m not sure what I will qualify for. My number one option rn is Health Management services but I’m open to a few other options I have picked out as well.

Only OCP that I’m aware about comes in scorpion camouflage. Multicam uniforms are not OCP’s.

There is a video explaining 3 ocp looking uniforms is from like 3 years ago.... to answer your question the official one will be the Scorpion 2... the difference is on the velcro multi cams can be worn but they will not be the official ones. One big difference is in the sleeve velcro see that Scorpion 2 has the whole velcro for the spice brown color flag etc.. but multicam has like a pocket flap and velcro on top... i will se if I can send you the video

GM Vlogs heyyy~ so you can wear both for now but I believe some time during late 2020 or early 2021 ABUs will no longer be allowed. As far as I know only those deploying are getting issued OCPs and some time next year they will start issuing them in basic training

I believe USAF personnel in ACC MAJCOMs get theirs automatically issued to them. I think those are OCP only bases.

Abby Sanchez when I went through basic training you need to be uniformed with everyone so I believe everyone wears slacks, but after that it’ll depend on the situation if your higher ups say you need to wear a certain way or if it’s up to yoh

Keren Joy I never used them. I did maybe once or twice but kinda just faded from using them. I do like how they wanted to be more universal. It helps mostly.

@@NicoleBermz I know you can find it in the airman’s attic and in surplus stores. The ABU is no longer authorized so even if you got a full set together you couldn’t wear it.
