What is the time delay on the mobile app, from event to notification? Can the mobile app use localhost entirely, without the web? The one thing that drives me nuts about Nest, for example, is the notification is about 5-10 seconds LATER after the event. For security purposes, that is ridiculous, so I don't consider it a security system. (And I've got 800-Mbps over the web and our phones do 100+.).
Have had mine for 3 years. Got a new phone and new Internet provider and it has never worked again. It asked for passwords that I have no clue what there asking for. It is by far the most complicated system I have ever used!
Google is going to block "less secure apps"; ..."Starting on September 30, 2024, less secure apps, third-party apps, or devices that have you sign in with only your username and password will no longer be supported for Google Workspace accounts. For exact dates, visit Google Workspace Updates. To continue to use a specific app with your Google Account, you’ll need to use a more secure type of access that doesn’t share password data..."
I purchased a Lorex 2K Video Doorbell from Amazon in October 2022. I was generally satisfied with the operation of the doorbell, but after having it for almost a year, the doorbell stopped working. I found that the doorbell does not work if it is powered by an external voltage of 16V. I contacted Lorex - support (Ticket 516855). The complaints procedure with them is quite laborious and complex. However, they promised to send me a new doorbell, but unfortunately, I never received it. After about a month, they also stopped responding to my e-mails, and I found comments online that this kind of mocking of customers by Lorex - support is quite common. I recommend all potential buyers choose something else instead of the products offered by LOREX. Should You Buy It?? NOOOOOOOOO !!!
We have had the Lorex 8 camera 4k NVR from Costco for a few years now. The whole system has been very reliable and stable. The only challenges we ran into: 1. Not waterproof cameras/connections. They are water resistant. Big difference. We mounted a couple cameras outside mid wall for testing with the dongle also outside the wall, below the camera, not protected from the elements, assuming they were water proof. Our eaves are over 10 feet in the air and required opening our interior walls to route the cables. Before we committed to that we wanted to make sure there were no unforeseen bugs with the system. Our walls are not drywall. Our house was built in 1890. Our walls are like 1 inch thick wood ship lathe. (2) of the cameras that got rained on a lot stopped working. The provided cables with their big plastic weatherproof appearance are not actually water proof. Water got into the big plastic section where the cat5e connects to the cameras dongle and heavily oxidized the metal pins. They oxidized away completely. Lorex was great and replaced them. We did order a full set of Lorex Metal weatherproof external boxes to mount the cameras too. 2. I have had issues with the separately purchased Lorex 2k wireless Doorbell camera. We did have to give up one camera channel for the Lorex 2k Wireless Doorbell camera to be able to connect and operate. Also, we added an REI 4 channel 4k HDMI over ethernet box (1HDMI in to 4 HDMI out) so we could monitor the security cameras feed from the NVR from a few different rooms. 2nd Also, we added several cameras that were pretty far from the NVR. We ordered the $20each power wall warts from Lorex to power them (since our $20 8 port 1gbps Netgear switch does not have Power over ethernet). Those (2) wall wart powered cameras have been working flawlessly for years now. Quality products. If you are considering investing in the Lorex brand and wanted actual user input, here is my opinion: I highly recommend them. There is no monthly cost!!! My phone app has worked for years! I have had people press my doorbell while we were driving hundreds of miles away and it popped up on my phone and I was able to chat with them!
Yeah the main thing that sucks about the 650 mouse is the rubberised grips. After a few months the adhesive comes away. Eventually I had to just super glue them down but genuinely they need to get rid of that for the next version. I probably wouldn't buy another until they solve that design flaw as it makes your mouse look and feel awful. But yeah if you get one, be sure to take those grips off and peel all the adhesive from them before replacing it with superglue. The grips have been fine since my own repairs.
Thanks Rick! I had some initial challenge in getting them to connect to the wifi but once I factory reset, they both worked. However they have since gone off line and it is saying I have to reset them again. Did you have this issue?
Thanks Rick! I did finally get both installed however they have since gone offline. Did you have that issue? Any solution as to why they worked and then stopped? It means I have to remove them again, factory reset which I ended up doing to get them working initially.
Is it possible to export multiple video channels in sync with one another from this software? I am only able to export one at a time and it is a bit time consuming. Thanks! Good video :)
A big problem with the wireless cameras is that they stop working in extreme cold. Probably only an issue in Canada and some of the northern United States but if that’s where you live you want to primarily be looking at the wired systems
I purchased a Lorex bundle directly from the Lorex website, I purchased the 16 Channel with the nocturnal color cameras with audio. I also purchased another bundle for my parents. I have no regrets at all. My security cameras is still ahead of other brands. I’m just waiting for 8k cameras to become available and then I’ll upgrade to a larger HDD.
Hi. As a Lorex user, can you record from from the phone app and save to phone? Or do you need to pull saved video from actual NVR unit via a memory stick? I need to save recording easily but I know "older" Lorex systems you have to save from main unit. Hoping they've updated tech to save/share from phone app. Thanks in advance!
Is the system has 2 way audio in it? And how’s the audio quality? I’m having trouble with my Kasa system. The audio late and not clear, thinking to get something has better audio quality Thank you 🙏
I have the Lorex 400 series 16 ch cameras with 12 cameras installed. 8 of the cameras are Lorex dome PTZ cameras, 3 Lorex bullet cameras and one Dahua fisheye ONVIF protocol rated camera. I have my NVR since 2020 and gradually upgraded cameras through 2022. I am overall pleased with the purchase though not without its challenges. 1) the non-Lorex Onvif fish eye camera required configuration to work with Lorex NVR. Yes, it is doable and non Lorex cameras as long as ONVIF compliant works with the NVR. However for any power interruptions, it kicks it offline though it is a quick switching back to Camera to ONVIF setting from the NVR. The only reason I pick up a fish eye is to cover 360 deg on my 2nd floor without having to invest in 2 cameras. 2) the HDMI port got damaged because my NVR is placed in an area where the cable is curved at an angle because of the tight space. I tried to replace it but the HDMI itself is Lorex proprietary and not available to purchase. Soldering is out of the question because the pins that connect to the board snapped. My fix is using a VGA to HDMI adapter to hook the NVR to my TV. Also I highly recommend to plug your NVR to a good power surge and UPS to protect from power surge. Learned this when a power surge fried the power supply of the NVR. Quick fix but a hassle. I used APC UPS 650 VA. Down the line, I’d probably upgrade to the Lorex Fussion to allow wireless Lorex cameras to be saved in the drive.
I loved my Lorex NVR that I bought 6 years ago. I hate the new NVR that I bought to replace the it. No audio, ghosting, hate the fast forward. I hate everything about it. Going to save some funds to buy another brand and junk this one.
After you did the camera registration, do you see two doorbell applications in the app? One for the initial setup and one connected to the NVR? I tried connecting directly to the NVR during the initial setup but it wouldn’t give me the option for mechanical chime. Not sure why. I had to do a setup not connected to the NVR in order to select mechanical chime and then perform the NVR registration but I see the doorbell twice in my app.
Quick question as far as the 2tb do you think it holds up storage and how is it doing currently? I have ring but it always deletes my footage especially if I miss a day of payment and it’s annoying since I would like to have my memories if god for bid something happens..!
Person Detection is very disappointing, everything and anything sets it off 24-7, if you want accurate alerts only this not the camera for you, other than that it all works and is very easy to set up
Thanks! Covered many things I'd struggled with over the past month or so before I figured them out on my own. YOu explained those really well. One thing that I asked Lorex about is how to not showing unused channels. I have an 8 analog/4 IP Fusion DVR which replaced a 4 camera no-longer-supported-by-the-manufacturer analog (BNC) system. The Lorex DVR uses channels 1-4 for the analog cameras and I added 4 IP cameras, but they use channels 9-12. Unfortunately, on the main HDMI display, it shows the first 4 (BNC) channels, then 4 blank channels (5-9) and then the 4 IP channels (9-12). I'd like it to show only the 8 in-use channels and not the unused channels. Doable?
I have done everything in all your videos, and I can't get my cameras to record continuously. they won't record at all unless I manually click record then its only for 10-15 minutes. My goodness this is frustrating.
You have the NVR to record on correct? The NVR when working is always recording. If you have wifi camera with memory cards they work a bit differently how are you setup?
@@RickvanderValk14 I looked through the menu on the NVR and part of my problem was the Hard drive had an error, so I formatted it and now I see all the cameras have a red-letter C on the screens, so I think now they are recording. my next issue is getting my lorex cloud app on our PC to go online so we can view the cameras while on the computer. Thanks for your reply your videos are really good.
I am using Lorex app but it won’t connect. I have changed cables and restarted everything several times but still the app is not working. It show on info link system is offline.
Really like the 4K video quality. Really don't like the fisheye lens and being wired. I need to put a camera in a tree outside the front door and for the driveway. My computer is on the other side of the house which makes running wires through the (low roof) attic a real problem. I have a mesh router so I'm fairly confident about signal quality over wifi.
I’m dumping the camera portion of my ADT pulse system that was installed in 2010 and starting from scratch with Lorex to save on the camera added fees.
I had 4 errors on the Lorex website, after entering a ton of info each time, in attempt to reset the NVR password, since I bought is Used from a guy. Finally (without instruction from Lorex) dod a hard factory reset amd made my own password. However, I cant register the NVR on my phone application, since it says this SN NVR is already linked to the previous owner's email :(
