I quit zwift after waiting for them to fix a visual glitch that occurred on my Mac Pro after an update. After 2 months of waiting I went to Rouy. I will not be back.
I’ve ridden up both the actual Huez and Ventoux , and Huez on the game, yet to do Ventoux on the game, should get off my butt and do it, I do remember the top of Ventoux being 22%.
I initially thought it was the volume level/mic too close but I think you are correct. I’ll lower it and give ut a try for the next video. Thanks for the pointer!
I’m probably not the best person to ask for this advice, but here is what I generally do: on rides that are less than 1 hr I’ll generally just have water with electrolytes. Anything longer I’ll try to have a bar or some kind of snack before, after, and most times during the ride. I personally never take gels (never tried). Sorry, nutrition is definitely not a strong spot for me lol
The price hike would be worth it if zwift would implement rowing for my concept 2 so I can cancel my ext subscription. Btw zwift, a lot of people still row in the summer!
Road to Sky probably has the most elevation per hour, especially if you do an immediate U-turn and go up Epic KOM reverse. This eliminates ~10 minutes going through the jungle. Finish Epic KOM then proceed to the radio tower and just session that.
@@adamwebclimb portal could also be a good option - set it to 125% and your feet per hour will be much higher than most of the regularly available climbs
I would have made the climb portal an honourable mention, possibly noting with one or two climbs that have been on the climb portal. I would have stuck with the top 5 being 5 climbs that are always available. (yes climbs outside of Watopia count as you can ride them at anytime including outside of the calendar by creating a group ride which can still be done solo) My list: (not the hardest, just favourite) 1. Volcano Alpe du Zwift 2. The Grade 3. Ventoux 4. Box Hill 5. Volcano
Sorry I wasn't clear - was referring to the Mt. Fuji rumored for Makuri Islands that's been floating around (4 years later and nothing yet lol). The current climb portal one is definitely a solid climb and would fall in second if it weren't for the rotation calendar
@@ZRaceCentral I would love for Mount Fuji to become a regular on Makuri. It would be the third area that would have a major climb that would be accessible, but not like Innsbruck, Richmond, or Scotland where the "climb" is integral to that world's rides.
@@ZRaceCentralI did Mt Fuji this morning took me a hour 23 it’s not bad climb I enjoyed it yes it’s long but not really steep I recommend if you want a good tempo ride
I did Ventoux once. No need to do it again. It was brutal. I know the climb portal lacks any scenery, but being able to see the steepness color coded is a plus for me.
No radio tower? I would still put it on there even though it isn't as long. I personally haven't done Ventoux in its entirety yet mainly due to the fact that it is in the rotating worlds. That is the one other thing that I hate about it other than its length.
@@bonn1771 Ventoux is definitely a solid challenging climb. As someone who likes the gamification aspect of Zwift, I just wish they had done more (like ADZ). Ride on!
The October 2024 Climb Portal deserves honorable mention as it is Mt. Hamilton, which, when ridden at 125% "Heroic" gradient was 1574 uninterrupted meters of climbing that took me 86 minutes at 302 watts.
Yeah I mentioned it in the climb portal section. Does the 125 scaling make it do that it doesn’t have the long flat section in the middle? I know the real life climb has a pretty long flat and sometimes even downhill section
along with the comments on the 12 speed, those of us with SRAM AXS will also need to buy a cassette, so it's sort of pointless. It would be better to be able to spec with Shimano or SRAM in the order process so I would not have to buy a SRAM hub body separately
Pros: - lots of users - minimal hardware requirements Cons: - the shiny wheels are annoying as fxxx - the feather makes it feel unrealistic - the winning prizes are too low and not often enough
They also haven’t raised their prices in years. Costs go up over time on everything. Get over it. It’s half a latte. If you can’t swing 5 dollars you have bigger problems in life than zwift.
Another reason - a lot of people only ride Zwift seasonally and would 'pause' their membership in the warm months - and even though Zwift only gave a pause of 8 weeks, at 15 bucks most people would just eat the cost of a month or 2, even though they could ride outside, ie early Fall, late Spring. But now I think those seasonal riders are either quitting outright or replacing the 'shoulder seasons' with a free app like MyWhoosh until the 'real' winter sets in and if they do go back to Zwift at all, its only for a few months of Winter. In the end I think Zwift will lose instead of gain revenue due to the price increase.
Levels are too long now so no double xp for all routes?, And before the snobs say its not about levels its become too hard for new riders to catch up I'm nearly level 60 so this don't affect me but I know new riders and I think its unfair.
@@lukevirtualgameruk3523 it’s super hard for Zwift to find a balance between too hard and not hard enough. I have enough xp for almost level 100, but im stuck leveling up pretty slow at level 69. That’s sorta just the way it is.
@@ZRaceCentral I know a few who have way passed 100 but are like you that's so unfair. This year when it was easy loads levelled fast. They need to fix it.
Problem was, the people who were boosted to level 100 are the ones who ride the most, so half of them wanted Zwift to slower the level up down and half wanted to just get their level 100 and be done… I have the feeling Zwift will leave it as is for a bit now as it’s had quite a few changes in the last year
@@GingerWarriorCyclingClub You got the xp when it was super easy. Now it's near impossible to get to your level unless you spent a year or two and hammed it , level 55 now is 260k so 13000 km which is a lot. I myself only got to 59 as I got my xp when it was easy xp anyone starting now its too hard.
What is anoying me most, is that ZWIFT is pushing the woke agenda and is political! They shoud concentrate on what ZWIFT is for: a sporting platform!!!!
Depends what you consider tall. I’d say ok pretty average height (5 7). I’m still a kid and trying to gain weight but it’s pretty hard with my metabolism
I have a Tacx neo 2t with motion plates, which I love. However I am considering changing to the Kickr move. I would like to be able to use virtual shifting and it doesn’t look like Garmin are going to be introducing this feature. Also I like the idea of the Kickr climb to make it all more immersive. BUT it’s a lot of money to spend considering I’m already very happy with the Tacx. If Garmin would just hurry up and give us virtual shifting I’d stay with the Tacx!
@@ianhofstetter7446 yeah chances of Garmin adding virtual shifting is super slim imo. Virtual shifting is definitely a nice feature. If you don’t mind losing road feel I think you’ll love the Kickr Move.
I've had 12 months off zwift and cycling due to having two prolapsed discs. In the last 4 weeks with my back slowly recovering I've been slowly building up my cycling again as and I was considering using zwift for my Winter training. However, I think I'm going to try MyWhoosh for a while at least. If it doesn't work out I can always re-install zwift. It looks pretty decent though so hopefully it'll work out for me :)
We always love newness but new routes are always my fav! 🙌 Talking about challenges the realy challenges are always Zwift Academy and WTRL. As said on my last video I analysed them both still can't decide on which I'll suffer more 😂😂😂😂 any recs?
Are you serious? MyWhoosh despite being a new platform is much better than Zwift. I’m using Apple TV and the graphics are much better and less cartoony than Zwift. The recent update has added more worlds and customisation options. The workouts are less cluttered and the big thing is no subscription fee unless you want the season ticket and don’t have enough credits earned. Remember this is the chosen platform for the UCI VR cycling competitions and users can win prize money if they’re good enough.
Mywhoosh does everything I need and it is free. Had there not been a price increase, I wouldn’t have left Zwift. Zwift is now close to $2 per ride. I’m not going back to Zwift
@@ZRaceCentral the swift academy race requires trainer realism to be set to 100% For a steep climb the lowest gear is used. However, with a wheel on trainer, the tire slips at low cadence high torque. If realism is set to 30%, the trainer makes less resistance at the tire/roller. Power is still calculated with cadence and torque. The single cog setup mimics reality by adjusting torque. Why should cassette setup use 100% realism?
Hate the idea of selling people higher levels of performance for their bikes. Virtual racing has the ability to create an even playing field by neutralizing equipment differences. It would suck to have to pay Zwift to not be disadvantaged in a race...and would turn off a lot of would be racers.
@@Jon-lf2dj Zwift uses a different virtual shifting system so that it seems a lot more like actual shifting whereas indievelo is just a change in resistance. That’s why trainer manufacturers have to be the ones to implement it.
@@ZRaceCentral I realize that it needs to be a firmware update on the trainers. Seems strange that this wouldn't be a top priority for Elite, Tacx, Cyclops, etc. Zwift has such a huge market share (and reason for getting a smart trainer in the first place) that having your trainer be sub-optimal for the platform seems like a great way to lose sales.
@@Jon-lf2dj I'd agree. I think it is a tricky situation for the trainer manufacturers. A lot of them want to develop their own virtual shifting protocol so that they aren't reliant on Zwift (like Elite has done with their Square).
@@lukevirtualgameruk3523 im nowhere near as fast as most of the cyclists out there and Zwift speeds are unrealistic for lighter riders. The Olympian I beat was a lot older and no longer races professionally. Lots of similar riders can be seen in category B, and most B riders with good tactics can beat them.
@@ZRaceCentral Zwift going downhill and I don't care who cheats as I rarely race on there, I did a cat c group ride yesterday and I'm a cat b rider and as soon as it started the pacer and his gang went off like rockets I was at 3.5 for 10mins and everyone was moaning about it that was not in that gang that its too fast and it's happening all the time now.
Mywhoose doesn't have the community, but it does have better and more realistic features. I canceled my membership. The zwift training is a joke. Cant use with kickr v5 see yeah
