I'm Bruce A. Ulrich and I enjoy improving things around me and making new things to enjoy. I'm a full-time maker and Realtor with three kids, so life's a little busy! Follow along as I show you the things I'm making.
I also have a podcast with a couple of other RU-vid makers, Drew from Fisher's Shop and Mark from Gunflint Designs. It's called WE BUILT A THING and we talk about all kinds of stuff there: making things, creating content like our videos for RU-vid/Instagram/Etc, working full-time, being dads and more! Find it in your podcast app of choice.
Be sure to check out the written articles for my projects, as well as some merch and affiliate links on my website, www.bruceaulrich.com.
You should definitely use dust collection with the Domino!! It's designed to expect the vac so it'll create too much heat without it. Will almost certainly reduce the life of the bits and might even change the size of the mortises. I also imagine it makes the motor and gearing work harder. Nothing good! I'm sure even a shop vac would make a big improvement
Simple and cheap to build, I like it. Received my Penn State Turncrafter Commander 10 yesterday and bought my lumber this morning to build this. Actually using left over 4" casters, 2 swivel locking and 2 fixed. I too share a garage with the wife's van, but her van hasn't seen the garage since winter lol..
Thanks for sharing your process Bruce! How thick do you usually make your boards? Would you say charcuterie boards made in a similar way should be just as thick?
Thank you! I shoot for them being just shy of 1.25” thick. As for charcuterie boards, for some reason, I picture them thinner, but I don’t have a good reason for that. It’s just an opinion.
If I ended up with a partial piece (which I did), I didn’t want that to be seen immediately as you entered. I would much rather it be near the window on the far wall where it won’t be seen.
@leigh-jo you basically have to put a screw through the hoop into each stave. When these have liquid in them, they swell and are tight. After they’re empty, they shrink and start to fall apart.
Great video! I was gifted a very similar prop from a colleague at work (Boeing). Been trying to get an idea on how to mount it and your video helps a ton! Thank you. Also, any chance you'd be willing to create that same piece and sell it to me? Thanks!
Fantastic work, Bruce! Nicely done! 😃 What I've seen before was a guy making a heavy (ish) wooden box to put the cardboard inside. This way you don't even need to glue them. 😉 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! And cats!!! 🖖😊
I guess I didn’t show it well enough, but I have a groove in the bottom of the door and a small piece attached to the floor that rides in the groove. That keeps it from swinging out.
Thank you for the swift response, I watched twice but could not understand that specific part. I recently installed two doors in two different locations but really suffering with the bottom as it’s coming off the wall. We don’t have any accessories available locally while I don’t want to use the aluminum channels at the bottom. If there is any specific video on it, please share the link. Many thanks for the great work.
Hello.. im just wondering Does oneida supercell collect dust from air. I do many grinding car panels and my shop is full of dust, but i can't connect to tools. Im looking something that will collect dust from air in my shop.. What you think ?
No, I would not recommend the SuperCell for this. It is meant to collect at the tools. I would buy or build some type of an air cleaner/air scrubber. Jay Bates has a video about how to make one here on RU-vid.
