Did this once to my v70 by just taking stuff out of way inside engine bay. Took me 2-3hrs to figure out what/how to take apart. Other time I did it opening the whole fron bumper etc. Because I did that I changed all bulbs that are in headlamp to make it sure I dont have to do it for a long time. Also used led bulbs in side lamp and parking lamp even though they are not street legal. Nobody shouldnt really care cause they are not real driving lamp.
Cut out a round template out of thin cardboard or thick paper to mask the disc. Then place a metal coat hanger through the lug holes. Its easier to just rotate the brake around as you spray from the proper angle vs kneeling on the ground. It's only takes like 30 seconds and you get a nice even coat.
It had EBC, uprated turbo elbow/downpipe, decat, hks catback exhaust, apex air filter, silicone turbo intake, front mount intercooler and greddy bov, spitfire coilpacks and colder spark plugs. Still running original stock turbo on 180-190,000km milage.
Incredibly useful video. Thanks very much. Can't help thinking that an opening in those side mounting brackets would help accessing that one bolt for the side fixing of the clusters, lol!
I just did it today, I could get a 1/4 inch socket/ ratchet from underneath on the one you struggled with, then removed heat shield, then wastegate, then rotated, but my water pipe spigot for the heater hose is in the way of the compact turbosmart cbv vac fitting, so I can’t rotate back, I’m not sure how to proceed, blowtorch and bend pipe is all I can think of, I’ll sleep on it…
Corrosion and rust. He should've done it. It was already prepped. Also try to paint the ribs because those will corrode, rust and eventually deteriorate depending on conditions and where you live. I live at the beach so nothing last long.
Good job man ! Thanks for sharing ! For future references here are the torque specs: two bolts on the tranny - tighten the screws (A) to the transmission. Tighten to 35 Nm. Angle-tighten 40º two nuts at the frame - tighten the nuts (B) to the sub-frame. Tighten to 65 Nm. Angle-tighten 60º two bolts with the rubber bushings - tighten the nuts (C). Tighten to 35 Nm. Angle-tighten 90º.
Does changing the stock exhaust downpipe and turbo elbow make a drastic difference in sound? I got a hks hipower exhaust and it just sounds boring so wanted to get some bits to give it some sound
Looks just like mine. I had the same oil in the compressor housing, and before I knew how the pcv worked on these cars, I just bought a new turbo. Definitely believe the pcv was the culprit, but I was also doing other repairs/upgrades so the turbo needed to come off anyway. Worth it to get all those hoses replaced with good silicone versions.
All the spoiling you hear is from the plump back bov vr 1? because i heard the sound of the bov on their website for the same one and it does not spool as much
U sure it was plugged in the video? Because that flutter happens when ur dv is not plugged! Anw what was the main reason u changed ur oe since this is the full recirculating one not the one that makes noise ! Does it have any benefits or hp gains? And how do u like it so far? Great video, thanks ♥️
