I still haven't got round to rebuild engine but now I think it's the turbo. Since I've installed this turbo I've had nothing but problems.
Would you say the turbo is blown?

So i couldn´t really asume what the problem in detail was, white smoke can be bad but in some conditions volvos are smoke grenades anyways. If the smoke is blue and smells weird like a two stroke engine it could be that your engine is consuming oil, if the engine oil smells like gasoline it could be the engine. To see if its the Turbo: Remove the Air hoses after the turbo and look for an oil-film, maybe hard too see but it shouldn´t be too much. Also if your car didnt run for 2-3 days remove the fresh air pipe going to the turbo and look for oil in the pipe/Turbo. My T5 burnt a lot of oil because of an badly repaired Turbo 1l/1000km also smoked blue when the engine was very hot. It´s indeed very easy to blow an Turbo if you forget to pre-oil it properly before installing it. If you cant see any oil, do a pressure drop test (this is NOT! an compression test) if each cylinder holds 1 bar for more than 2 hours your engine-block should be in good condition. Also the valve stem seal could be broke, if your sparkplugs are removed just look with an endoscope if every cylinder has the same soot.

As a former mechanic, I’d do this: 1. Ck the turbo for oil leaks and shaft play. 2. Check compression on each piston. If it’s tons low on just a couple or less it’s head gasket. But a head gasket usually also produces smoke but white in colour. Your smoke wasn’t blue time but white. So your coolant line to the turbo could be bad. Ck for a “sweet smell” in the air. That’s coolant burning. I think it’s that. But video screws colour up. 3. If compression is just slightly low you could have a leak at the injector seals. 4. Good luck

Sorry but how could a injector seal cause low compression? Maybe on a diesel engine injector but not a petrol engine port injector like the S60R.

Then I promise u that u ain’t never worked on a car. That seal is the lat thing holding the pressure in chamber. I’ve seen it before

@@christopherjefferson3561 then you never worked on this type of engine before, they have injectors in the fresh air manifold not connected with the chamber in any way ;)
