could be the 100+ malware spying programs built into windows running in the background, taskman is even programmed to ignore their cpu usage. if you install a 3rd party task manager you see the real cpu usage and a ton of shady hidden processes too. i ditched windows in 2015 when i saw all that added into 10, it's only gotten 20 times worse with 11.
Ham Radio is no where near like it was back in the 60's n 70's... I think what really killed ham radio is the Examinations , All you need to know is how to memorize the question pool and the icing on the cake was is the removal of the code requirement ..
Unfortunately it's a lot of these really old guys that are from before the code requirement being dropped that are causing 90% of the problems on the radio so I don't really think that that's it and most of the Jammers well most of them have been licensed since the seventies or eighties so most of The Gatekeepers are from the 70s or earlier no as far as all the other stuff I don't know but it seems to me from my general observation that that hasn't really changed anything I think that there are a lot of people that don't have a clue in ham radio because the test is too easy but usually those people are respectful and willing to learn
Would've been insightful to see the selected power plan in your Windows settings. My complete setup with all peripherals uses only about 30 watts at idle with the "power saver" option, which limits the maximum frequency of the CPU (no random 100% CPU usage spikes). When I'm gaming, I set it to "balanced" which allows the CPU to ramp up when more performance is needed. "Maximum performance" is a waste of energy.
Id like to make one small point. Do you buy a used car without driving it? Why would you buy a radio without testing it? That's on you, brother. As for the rest, I completely agree. As an old fart myself. I can't stand the crap attitude of some of these old hams.
I have certainly bought some cars without driving them before because they didn't run however I always try and test the radio if possible the problem is there is not always the option when you're buying at a hamfest
Hi,some interesting points 👍🏻but don't take all it so seriously, enjoy the hobby for what it is, if you get so angry and upset, maybe the hobby just not for you, anyway good luck, 73s from Rotterdam 🙏
The video isnt me frustrated with amateur radio. I was actually asked to make a video about this by a few different people. So I did. But just like everything else in the world it's only happening if we allow it to happen
Could you check with hwinfo64 what components draw how much power? And check if some process consumes much cpu or gpu. This could give indication what might be wrong.
Never been on the air waves yet but I’m into fixing old equipment like tubed oscilloscopes and vintage computers. I’m fixing a swan 270b right now. Anyways I found your video entertaining and informative haha 👍
Oh man, thats awesome. I bought a broken Cygnet 270 B for $80 one time with no power cord it took me about a year to get it working but that was a really nice radio very stable
The S bogus signal report is so real, like they are afraid of looking bad if they give you a bad signal report, how the h@ll are you gonna improve if there are no reliable signal reports, that's what the reports are for! So we can find out our weaknesses and improve, 73!
I guess Windows sucks in any way..literally as well. I am not sure if you have heard of samsung dex or not, but that is what I am operating. I can do things that I can do on a regular PC ofr the most part, the only thing I can not do unless I use my tablet that has an SSD card is run software and apps off an external drive. but make no mistake. In docking mode, I can transfer files at a very fast pace. backed up all my videos 500 gigs in less than 2 to 3 minutes. I can also use power director for editing videos up to 4k. and the cool thing is that I can attach one of my drives and up load from a drive . so I think I will set my tablet up. SSD will be used for ex ported videos. as it stands, everything is chaotic. But for the most part, I can do a lot of things. that I could do on my PC. I so hate windows it is not even funny. Even when I paid for the system, I had to use various hacks to eliminate the ads, now windows wants to do bypassing on that? I don't think so. Air-conditioning, now those can suck power, lol. On my solar array i had before we moved was a ground mount of 1,500 watts. I swapped over to a 24 volt system. Now i uave to add batteries. But all in all, i can bake bread and do a few other things. As for operating the ac, for now that kicks everything up to 1kw i could use the bread machine lol. It has a bake feature. I have even cooked chicken in it and it was ,oist and yummy.. I like to do these projects to kewp my sanity i also live in an appartment unit so cannot leave my PVs out for now. As for windows...i just wiah thwy would allow ua users just to use it with out all the crapware thw install in to it, let us dow what we want to do.
My main DMMs are Fluke 87V. I bought a Thinsde 19B+ a few years ago. Nice meter and works fine. If it's meant to be a Fluke look-a-like, I wish they would also copy the diode test beep function.
😂 I don't disagree with any of what you say. I'm a Gen-Xer too (52). My son just recently got licensed and we play a little game at hamfairs. First one to smell B.O., First ham-sexy police car in the lot, orange call letter hat or vest..... etc. There are plenty of good guys that I have met too. But this is all true. 73, KB7RQQ
A bunch of crusty old low-T-rule-spouting-church-ladies camping on the same frequency for 40 years. Always pissing on new people. I rarely get on Hf any more; actually our local CB guys are a more polite reasonable bunch. As far as buying used stuff, either get it cheap or find a way to test it before the money exchanged. If they want $300, but "don't know anything about it", offer $40 because that's "what you'll get for the knobs and power cord on eBay"... That really pisses them off...
Absolutely agree the most dishonest and shady human beings are amateur radio operators. It's disgusting, especially the old timers (which make 90 percent of hams) have been dicks for decades.
Good grief! I think you were a bit constipated....because a lot of shit came out. Take up bowling...you need a crying towel. I'd suggest some bran so you're a bit more regular. Sheesh....I couldn't listen to more than 5 minutes of your rant.
I like a true signal report. That way I know how my antenna system and radio is performing. Someone giving me a "5-9" on a "4-3" signal helps nothing but my ego 😂. Ham sellers aren't the worst, it's CB'ers, but they're so close, it's hard to place them at #1 and #2
I'm a new ham 05/2024. I completely agree, these gatekeepers are crazy. All they do is complain about new hams only having handhelds and then complain about how the hobby is dead. Sorry I don't have $4k just to drop on a shack. Thanks for the heads up on the used equipment.
Welcome to amateur radio. Dont let them discourage you. Theres many cool things to learn and do here. Maybe you like building things. Maybe you like fixing things. Maybe you like trying to make long distance contacts while portable. Meanwhile the gatekeepers usually just talk about their poor health and things they will never end up doing lol
Wow, you just need a new hobby. Guess what, once the old farts die off, you will be the "new" old fart and based on your video, you're well on the way to being an opiniated grumpy old ham already.
I have this radio but it didn't come with the short cord to attach control head to the radio. It only came with the long cord for the control head. I have no intention of using mobile. Just as one whole unit. Would you be willing to sell me the cord for the control head if it's alright with you?
Most of the bad things about ham radio are the direct result of lowering the bar to obtain a license. When you actually had to work for one, it kept the riff-raff away. Now, you almost just have to have a pulse to obtain a license.
I'm going to have to disagree with you because I see that most of the problematic people and Gatekeepers and Jammers are from that time period prior to the code requirement being removed
Hi! Please help! I recently upgraded my Ender 5PLUS with a 4.2.7 32Bit motherboard and a colour LCD, of course i uploaded the best firmware ever, the Mriscoc 😅 My problem is, the firmware is locked at 230mm printing size, and i want to increase it to 370mm on what ender 5plus have. I tried to do it from slicer, but the printer firmware overrides the GCode and stops at 230mm. How can i increase the printing volume?
@@hamradiohack yes, works perfectly 👌 I managed to find a way to increase the build volume by customising the firmware with Visual Studio Code. At the bottom line Ender 5Plus is an bigger Ender3/pro/V2... so making it work with Creality 4.2.7 and Mriscoc Firmware is inevitable 😂
IM SORRY THAT CROWN GOES TO THE PIONEER SX-1980 lol how is it that a monster receiver only has these openings to slide a pin into. I hate them. These are challenging but with the right terminations on the speakers they are solid and indeed scalable top Video. Stay safe.
I just subscribed to your channel but I have a question I'm wanting to know how you connect to charge controllers that are EP ever 80 amps does automatic from 12v and up
It automatically detects the voltage. Its wise to connect the battery bank first. And watch it detect it. Once its detected 12v,24v ,36v or 48v then hook up your solar panels. Hope that helps. The 80a is a good unit.
Agree with your points! Sadly there are a lot of clowns on the bands these days. I was very active for a while. But then got tired of the bs. So i don't even bother to turn the gear on anymore! Picked up an HF rig from a local once. He said everything was there. Radio was dirtly, not at full power, and didn't have the mic. Yep, i can't stand the folks that ask for a callsign a dozen times, then say 5/9. Really? What a joke! Yep, the hams are no better now than the general population. While I don't mind helping others, i have no time for the GI Joe wannabes the hobby/service seems to be attracting these days.(prepper types) Then there's the types that commit to being at an activity, test session, ect that back out at the VERY last minute! Seen that too. Guy promised to be at a emcomm drill. He backed out as things were getting going. Turns out, he drove 40 miles to get ice cream! It's a very small club of about a dozen active members. So everyone mattered. I've had some folks be VERY rude to me on air as well! So guess what? To hell with them! And for the most part, to hell with ham radio now! Got better things to do than listen to some old guy talking about his health problems. Hey buddy, thats between you and your doctor! NOT you and the rest of the world! I don't care that you can't get hard anymore! I don't need to know about it! But if you correct them, they flip out! Really? Then maybe go to the goooood buddy band! But keep it off the ham bands! Just some thoughts. 73 es vry good DX de kd7cjo
I totally understand. Sometimes i do alot of ft8 work. If i was good at cw I would probably do that. Lately I have found the new thing is POTA parks on the air guys are all pretty decent and and unlike rare dx you cant make a brief exhange and move on. Its very refreshing, actually. I like to set up portable and find the parks on the air guys because i know they wont give me a hard time
