Everything from multi-day wilderness backpacking to day hikes and overnight adventures. I also make outdoor gear reviews based on extensive testing and experiences from camping all year round. On many of my videos you'll also see my dog, Rokka the Alaskan Malamute, who has proven to be a great companion in the backcountry.

Yeah we got bears, but not like in Alaska/Canada where they can just wander into your camp. I do carry a loud safety whistle, but I must've got it after making this video.
Im happy to see you bring up this point! Got my first pair of liners gloves last winter. Since then i carry about 3-4 pairs of gloves during wintertime. Very similar system to urs. The only part im missing is a thinner windprrof shell glove. Thanks for a good video!
awesome vid, definitely next on my list of lights to buy. My area has pretty bad infrastructure so any time there's a storm it knocks the power out most of the time, and the power company sometimes says they don't know whenever it'll be back on
Thanks for the video. Nice to see you still wearing your 5.11 concamo jacket. You must have fixed the zip? I liked it so much I went looking for one but it doesn't seem to made any longer. Pencott green zone seems similar though..
It's by UF PRO, but yeah I contacted them and they sent me a replacement zipper for free. Got it professionally fixed. The camo pattern has faded in the sun quite a lot, but still my favorite jacket 👍
That's a tough question! There are so many variables to consider. Personally I have always liked Meindl's boots, the quality is superb and I've found them to be wider as well.
What brand is the dog Harness you are using from? Locking for one with small bags for my Aussie for upcoming hikes. I’m still not sure how much weight he should carry 😂
This one is froma brand called Säker, I joined their Kickstarter campaign and got it for a good price. I believe they've discontinued this model and are now offering something else. Before this, I used Ruffwear Approach backpack, but unfortunately that didn't have removable pouches and was not waterproof like these are. The downside of this Säker harness is its smaller capacity.
@@TaivalOutdoors awesome! Thanks for the answer. I think a small capacity is fine. I have to figure out how much my dog can ore should carry anyway ;) 10 month old, 21 kg, so still some weight to put on.
@@user-us7ht7sm2c Yeah just remember to start light, especially since the dog is still growing. I was instructed to wait until the dog was two years old before packing heavy, as malamutes grow so slow! Recommendations are of course different for different breeds. Whatever backpack you end up picking, I'd recommend getting a system where you can also detatch the bags. Better to hang around the camp without the additional weight.
@@TaivalOutdoors Australian Shepherds from what I have read grow to the maximum height really fast. He was already 58-59 cm at about 8 months. But until the bones, ligaments and muscles are fully developed can take up to 3 Years -.- so im going to take it slow. The Säker gear looks awesome ;)
The land of a thousand lakes and a BILLION Mosquitos is how I call summertime Finland. Obviously they were still sleeping during your hike. The dog looks huge with all of his winter undercoat. Is the Poncho a military one?
Yeah the nights were still cold enough that mosquitos weren't a problem. That's also the reason why I don't do much camping during summer 😅 Poncho is from 2GoSystems, not a military model.
@@TaivalOutdoors a lot of the outdoors content on the platform is north american eastern woodlands, coming from coastal Canada it's nice to see evergreen forest/rocky/wet/mossy terrain that really isn't easy to deal with. Very relatable content 👍
I just want to say your reviews on the chest packs are really refreshing. With a focus on things OTHER than ccw, lol. Canadian here, we don’t need that!
Hi, A/T 8 are in 2 versions, waterproof and non waterproof. You have non waterproof version because your boots have 'drainage vents'. I bought this boots and check it. Left boot was broken because water enter inside. Right boot was good. It resistance many water and was dry inside. So i must return boots but i hope i will get new and i would try it on trip.
Absolutely amazing nice sound. Thanks for sharing your adventure. I recommend you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak. Add this sound in your bucket list.
@@TaivalOutdoors ohh nice Keep the peak I mentioned to you in future feel himalayan sound. 😋 Thank you very much for replying to the comment. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower.
Hi. Liked this little hike. I am curious what time of year was this done? Thinking of starting in very north of Finnish E10 and hiking south as far as I can over 80-90 days. Would beginning of May or so be appropriate to start? From what you are saying there are not always trails, but there does seem to be a large network of logging roads throughout country. Not lots of information on (complete) trail and assuming good maps would get you there? Suggestions?
I believe this was the first week of May. I'd start a hike like that as soon as most of the snow is cleared from the trails, or what's probably even better is to start sometime during fall so you end the hike in October.
I'm seeing more mesh/fishnet wicking base layers coming out and the idea behind it makes sense. Ill have to check those ones out since the others I've heard good stuff about are over $150 for just a shirt. ...well, never mind. Should've known being Japanese sizing would mean they'd likely not have anything to fit short barrel chested/bodybuilder American types lol. Ill keep it bookmarked and if they ever make a size big enough I'll come back here and use the link.
They're definitely making a comeback, I agree. Yeah I hope they bring out more sizes since it seems they're actively expanding to US and European markets!
