Did you do anything to the pipes? I have the exact bike and mine doesn't sound like that. I am looking to change the pies to get a deeper louder sound like yours.
My 2004 Shadow 1100 goes 115 at least with a windshield. I pulled the baffles from my stock exhaust and it rips much more since. Get yourself a Memphis Slim windshield at least. Your engine sounds horrible. I think your exhaust is messed up. Remove the baffles? My bike hits 100 in seconds.
I heard your bike on the cop video and I could tell yours was like mine. I have the Sabre 2004. I drilled out the pipes on mine and it sounds bad ass too like yours, but cost much less, hah. 😀 Do you still have your Spirit?
They gear different shadows different, some to compensate for load etc. Almost like an experiment. I'm leaning toward a kawasaki vulcan, my brother has one and loves it. But will be keeping my 2000 shadow spirit vt100c to make nicer, and for sentimental reasons.
I just got about halfway through this video and realized it's the exact same route I took yesterday following my friend who was riding my Honda Sabre VT1100C2 to Hyser Cycle. Sounds great! Weird coincidence lol
Because the older 1100s were single wrist pin cranks so they loped like a harley. The newer (2000s) have a double wrist pin crank so they lost some of the big twin lope.
The older.. pre 1990 VT 1100'S had a higher compression ratio also which will contribute to a deeper exhaust note and more of lope due to slightly different cam timing I believe. Don't let it idle below 1000rpm +/- 100rpm though. Upper end can starve for oil according to Honda.
So these bikes don't vibrate and have you wishing for an extra gear on highways? At first I was looking at all of the 800 cc to 950 cc bikes as a first motorcycle but everyone keeps saying go with at 1100 cc with 1300 cc being even better. Just trying to see what people's different opinions are. Thanks for the upload. :)
@@usa-rb5fi I still haven't picked a bike yet. You know how it is with bills and stuff. 🙃 Had to get some roof work done and our furnace might need to be replaced. I'll be keeping an eye out for one this season. If I see something under $4,000 I can make payments on, you never know. Hope all is well. Happy riding to you! 🏍️💨 ✌️
You its funny you say that I had Vance and hines on my 98 honda vt1100 aero mine wouldn't go over 96mph I had it jetted man what a difference in power it will do 110
I do not know if you still have this motorcycle, but from the perspective of the camera, it looks like your handlebars are slightly misaligned to the right.
This was my first bike aswell but a 95.. I still have it today, very good bike, big bike for sure it did intimidate me at first but I couldn't resist it..
You said these Shadows are not geared for high speeds. But The 1997-2007 VT1100C Honda Shadow Spirit (the one your riding) is geared higher than all the other VT1100's (14% higher) The others are geared lower including the VT1100C2 Sabre, VT1100C3, VT1100T.
Great bikes that will run forever with basic maintenance. I found trying to jet mine with open pipes to be a exercise in frustration. I eventually tracked down a set of used stock pipes for $180 on ebay. I hate loud pipes if I want to get people's attention I hit the horn 140Db of Denali sound bomb air horn gets their attention faster than pipes that just give me a headache after an hour down the highway. Especially riding up into the mountains. Solid rock to one side just blasts the sound back in your ear, and uphill the motor is working harder so it's even louder. Stock pipes all the way open pipes are only good for drag bikes anyway. It's like cutting 2 feet off the bottom of a ladder and taping it to the top trying to make a taller ladder. Put one on a dyno and it becomes obvious hence why guys put lollipops in their open pipes to try to get some back pressure back. You gain about 3hp at wide open throttle at the top of the powerband, and lose power everywhere else.
