Do the shrimp not crawl out of the bowl? I had an amano shrimp clear a 4” lip in our tadpole tank. I found him dried up on the floor under the shelves when sweeping later.
The question didn't get answered yet. Where are the aquarium fishes coming from?! Talking about wholesalers as the source, the fishes are still in aquarium here as well.
I keep this in most of my tanks. However I was wondering about my Molly tank. I put one and a half tablespoons of salt for every 5 gallons of water in my tank. Will that amount of salt do any damage to this plant? Thank you in advance.
Hello, my Oscar just layed some eggs and I’m not sure what to do. I have 2 Oscar’s and 2 parrot fish. I want to believe the Oscar layed the eggs because they have been guarding it
Thank you! I've found my new tank so stressful because there are alllllll these things you must seemingly watch for and eradicate with nuclear force, but meanwhile I'm trying to create a healthy ecosystem, and it seems impossible to get all the right microorganisms and none of the wrong ones. But sometimes I'll find videos like this that's just like "don't freak out, it's actually not a huge problem" which I really love to hear. 😅
These videos are amazing, right to the point where the word quarantine is mentioned. That assumes you can have more than one tank big enough for the fish. That is not possible for me, so what are the alternatives when putting these fish straight in?
I managed to keep five together in a large tank with lots of branches and i mean lots of branches, yes they will spare with each other now and again but in the group it is spread out. I had them up to 15" before rehousing them. They love mussles prawns and blood worms. Great fish and can be trained too eat from fingers if feeding mussle.
After watching this video I decided to visit the store and received excellent service, bought a few things by Aquarium Co Op and picked up some Dragonstone and Mystery Snails. Will be back again soon.
Shrimps can't survive with my water condition then I tried nerite snail and they've been in my tank for a month and they've been working like crazy, I purposely let algae grow in the stones and glass and they've cleaned it all off...I haven't bought a water test kit yet and I have only given them occasional algae wafers..., I'm figuring out if I need to by calcium for them but may not if I have hard water, since I haven't seen any problems with their shells yet
I've been facinated by these creatures since i was 9 or 10 years old in 1976/1977. Thsy were in one of my favorite books, i was dreaming of becoming a marine biologist back then. Wow! I didn't know there so many species or that they were so geographically wide spread. Thank you!
So I had some fish in quarantine One was a guppy who delivered fry and then died. I separated the fry into their own tank and now that the quarantine is over I cleaned the tank and am now using the 10 gallon tank for the guppy fry. They are about a month old. Should I treat the tank with para cleanse since the mother had worms? It did look like one of the fry had white stringy poop. I didn't know whether they were too young to medicate? Also, when I am done medicating them is it okay for them to stay in that tank since there will still be medicine / worms possibly in the water?
I just found your Kio farm by accident and was very impressed but was treated like an idiot for asking questions I “should” have known. The elderly woman, who I just realized is your mother was not very interested in helping me understand the most basic information I needed for this fascinating hobby. She let me know you are a Koi expert who even judged in Japan but the entire time my mother and I thought we were bothering her because we weren’t educated enough. I decided to leave when I asked how do you tell the difference between a male and female and was met with the reply, “here we go again, it takes experience to see the difference”. … so today I found another kio pond resource and spent 800.00 without being made to feel like an idiot.
This makes you seriously appreciate the resources and the ability of legitimate places like this. Yes we all want to be "breeders" on some level and this is purely about fish care and fish quality of life. It's a meaningful and beautiful thing to see places like this that exist as a hobbyist.
My LFS sold me one this past week and they kept their stock in their saltwater system. I buy my saltwater there as well so parameters are similar and it’s doing fine. Specific gravity is 1.025 normally. He has been thriving for a week so far eating frozen mysis shrimp right off the tongs.
