hmm, we could probably do this with copper too? and thats easily sold in power form. would be great for making master blanks, carving wax is not ideal I find. so I usually make the final master out of copper.
I am an artist from Germany and because of my Multiple Sclerosis and resulting severe disabilities, I sadly can‘t work anymore to have a regular income. Just having my disability-retirement, these silver art clays always were way to expensive for me, to just mess around with and make jewellery and such. When I searched, if there was a way to make such clay myself, your video came up. This is amazing and gives me (at least a tiny bit) hope, that I can work with silver clay in the future. 😅 Thank you very much for sharing this and many greetings from Düsseldorf! Chris
Great video Roger, thanks. A question - what happens to the Ascorbic acid and the NO3 after the silver precipitates out ? Do they go out the clay as gases while firing?
Two questions. 1) can you only use fine silver scraps in the first step? 2) why is there metal left at the end of the first step? Do you just repeat the process with the metal in your glass flask?
Hi! Love your videos! Can you tell me what brand of controller you’re using with your kiln? I’m refurbishing an older kiln and looking at controllers for it, thanks 👍
Thank u so much for sharing. I have three questions: the jewels that were disolved at the beginning were 925? The final skull is 1000 ? If i have silver 1000 is works too? Or I must to allow to work
You're the man! Who's the man? You're the man! Thanks for posting this. I have so much silver bouillon and this will surely help make some inspired pieces. The commercial stuff is excellent, no doubt. But, It's so damn expensive, as everything is these days.🤔
Fantastic work. For a long time I have had the idea of making something similar but never got to the point. Also I see this video is six years old and reminds me of the golden age when videos on RU-vid were really interesting: no hype no clicbait, just humble authentic information. Thanks for posting and greetings from the Alps.
Hi, Thank you so much for sharing this. It is very helpful. Do you if the process would be the same with gold? It is impossible to buy where I live..... thank you. Stephanie
Thanks! Yes. Read some comments below for the process. Pure gold is way to soft for making useful items tho, so i'm not going to try to make gold clay, sorry. ( maybe some gold paint? )
53% nitric acid is not what we call fuming nitric acid. The fact that it fumes when reacting with metal is irrelevant. "Red fuming nitric acid" is for a concentration of above 80%. The acid fumes red when you blow on it. "White fuming nitric acid" is for a concentration of above 90% The acid fumes white when you blow on it (watch tutorial below). You can concentrate your acid up to 95% by adding 98% sulfuric acid before distilling. Or you can make it directly from potassium nitrate and sulfuric acid, as shown in the tutorial. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NHBDXtn7pjA.html
Do you have a tutorial or PDF that shows the formula amounts and everything in a detailed process? I would be willing to pay for a book or anything, Ive been trying to learn this for a while and this information is so useful Thanks ❤️
Thank you so much for the bath showing here to make the paste for myself! I'm shure I can use this with other presious metals too, only the metal powdering process will be different!😉
