In this video i show you how i make my own silver clay and sculpting a small scull pendant.
Disclaimer:
The quality of the silver clay resulting from the recipe you see in the video is by no means comparable with commercial clay brands like Art clay,PMC,Prometius or other brands.
However as you can see in the video, its possible to make stunning fine silver creations.

I am an artist from Germany and because of my Multiple Sclerosis and resulting severe disabilities, I sadly can‘t work anymore to have a regular income. Just having my disability-retirement, these silver art clays always were way to expensive for me, to just mess around with and make jewellery and such. When I searched, if there was a way to make such clay myself, your video came up. This is amazing and gives me (at least a tiny bit) hope, that I can work with silver clay in the future. 😅 Thank you very much for sharing this and many greetings from Düsseldorf! Chris

Wow wow wow!!! In YEARS of bullion collecting and slowly moving over to jewelry design, Is never even HEARD OF silver clay before!! I’m not a sculptor in the SIGHTEST, and I won’t even try my hand at wax carving yet, but this awesome method would be FAB for stenciling or doing imprints, and then you simply just FIRE IT!?!?!? I wish you’d not cut to the finishing so fast so we could have seen the total color change and quenching at the end of ftorching. I’m literally going to spend the whole night researching silver clay, now! CHEERS MATE

The point is you have to get close to the melting point of silver ( 900 C - 910 C). The particles stick together as a solid mass. It's not like you have regular pored silver. You cant bend, form or shape it, it breaks.

@RogerJonker
@RogerJonker 5 лет назад

@RogerJonker
@RogerJonker 5 лет назад

@@peterdryden1408 Hi Not sure. If i count the ingredients ( and i just use a little in this vid ) and the power consumption for making the nitric acid, i think the price per gram is just above the metal price.

kevin james dawes: I don’t see any purpose to your point. Being able to manipulate the clay and create something from it is the message you missed I think. The purpose of this video isn’t about critiquing art taste, and if you’re actually discerning, you know that. Some POV’s are simply petty and distracted, not to mention unappreciative. He showed the finished piece, no more is needed.

@@Gasp7000 not if the process is a lie. My remark was not about artistic merit. I'm baffled as to how you missed that point.. if I say I'm going to make a solid gold item out of butter and sand. And show mixing the components adding heat or waving a stick over it. Then show the finished item that is totally bogus.
