The honest truth, Pattaya is the worst place to retire in Thailand. It's just a place made for fun and to suck out every dollar you have. Plus, no matter where you retire in SEAsia, you need an exit plan when the money runs out. Most guys haven't planned what happens when you get geriatric old.

ex military for a long time, got psych issues as a result. the only time i have fun now is when im on holidays in SEA, you dont feel judged there anywhere near as much as you do in the west. i dont work and haven't for years so having to try and tell friends that i haven't really done anything for the last x months kicks you in the guts every time. over there nobody cares what you do or dont do for work, you dont get the looks from people that you get in the west. there doesn't feel like there is a blue print about what you should and shouldn't be doing with your life at that time in it. going to move over to SEA once the pups pass otherwise if i dont do something then it wont end well.

I would suggest a lot of ex pats need an interest. Yes, it's hard to stay the course but everyone should have something. For me it's always been exercise. I also love writing books. Currently on my eighth book. Keep motivated and stay focused. If all you do is drink, then you are on a slippery slope down. Sure, have fun. Life is for living and enjoying.

Wild part is they can do something to get out the rut like consistency on social media but they rather sit around and complain than pick up a passion because they’re old af… Be consistent, you have friends and you see the long term goal of being a creator. There is a light at the end of the tunnel where you’ll be able to enjoy yourself etc I can’t join the group. But, you may want to consider finding the places where Digital Nomads hang out and start networking, interviewing, learning from them. There are countless skills you can pick up if you have the time to earn money out of there. Having those people in your corner will open up opportunities if you pursue them and then you can document the journey and the process of achieving it.

One night on koh chang we were all in a mates bar and this thai lady walked in with 2 real samurai swords, put them on the bar and ordered a drink. All of us were thinking wtf? Nobody mentioned it and she got her drinks and paid the bill. I still wonder why or what she was doing at 1.00am

you can but its a legthy process and it will cost you alot more and might need to hire an agent to help you with process, its much easier if you have an education visa
Id start a guided tour of Pattaya for new to Pattaya teach westerners new to Thailand pitfalls how bars work how to stay safe were to go set it up for an hour every couple of nights a week something to supplement your income work for tips good luck.
This is sooo funny, My 1st trip to Thailand I knew nothing absolutely nothing about Thailand I just wanted to go to a place called Phuket or as I thought Fuckit. So I thought I would book a hotel in some place called pattaya..... I chose soi6 Queen Victoria and arrived there jet lagged about 10AM. Absolutely desolate. I wondered wtf! Shower, sleep, wake up and again wtf😂😂😂 Down stairs for some courage and slipped out the back door soi 6/1 😮😂😂 Wish I'd take the front door! Now I've been coming over 13 years and I'm sure we have some same friends
Mac, I’m an older man and I’ve been to Phuket 3 times for lengthy stays and I have not seen anything like which you talk about. I have left Phuket and gone onto Bangkok which I find much more grimy. I get the usual yelling out offering this and that from the usual suspects but just keep walking. Your advice is good and I think you do a good service with your vlogs.
