Hello Angel! I was really egar to ask you this question. Actually I am from India and rn i am in 11th grade..i also wanna join Caltech probably in 2026 for studying theoretical astrophysics and rn i am preparing for JEE that is considered 2nd toughest exam in the entire world. So do you have any recommendations for me? And because of my academics..i couldn't excel in some special extracurricular activities..i just publish few scientific blogs overall..but i do like researching and CALTECH values a good STEM profile....do you have any ideas about that? And thanks for sharing valuable content ❤❤🎉
Hi!! So sorry for the late response! That’s great, it sounds like you’re already excelling by publishing those scientific blogs! Caltech definitely values a strong passion for STEM so I would say focus on one area in STEM you truly enjoy/want to major in and do your extracurriculars in that! It’s difficult for people to do everything so don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Good luck :)
@@wAngel5 Great decision! You make money instead of having to invest for graduate school which makes your financial status better! However, MIT's CSAIL is rather tempting though!!
Thank you for showing a wholesome unfiltered journey! Always praying for the success of your future positive endeavours. I am sure Caltech memories will always serve you your whole life to be an amazing human!
So in the title she literally says what “I” eat in a day which means it’s from her lifestyle. Which also means you probably can’t relate because you don’t live her life.
Peace be upon you, Angel. Hope you're doing well and that you had a great Commencement ceremony at Caltech! Congratulations on graduating from Caltech and My best prayers are with you for your future successes! Stay blessed!
Thank you so much this was so helpful! Ik this is super late but i'm a junior right now and i would literally die to go to caltech its my absolute dream school but i was looking at the caltech supplementals and i was wondering what you wrote down for the section where it asks for what specific STEM awards you have? bc i am seriously lacking in that department lmfao!
Hey! I didn't have too many STEM awards. Most of them were just honorable mentions at math competitions, and I also participated in state round Knowledge Bowl competitions with a team. If you don't have many awards I would focus on personal projects that you may have done to show your particular interest in STEM. Good luck!
I used to watch your video when you first got into caltech.I commented that caltech was my dream university, you replied if i apply, you would help me. Interesting part, i am from Bangladesh, almost 2 oceans away from the US. So, I didn't apply for foreign universities for some reasons. But did my best to crack the hardest entrance exam in my country. I got into bangladesh University of engineering and technology. Again i have set my goal to reach caltech after graduation for phd or ms.
In my experience, Caltech was much more challenging! There were a lot of differences between the two experiences. For example, at Caltech everyone collaborates on problem sets, but at Cambridge everything is done individually (this is probably because they are doable on your own too). Because I was studying abroad, I also didn't have to take the final exams for any of my classes, whereas Cambridge students' grades are solely based on the exam at the end of the year. If I were to take the exams it would have been more rigorous. While I enjoyed not needing to worry about grades at Cambridge (everything was on pass/fail for me), I would definitely still say if I were to choose to be a full-time student without study abroad I would definitely still prefer Caltech's coursework/system!
I first learned about data structures during my freshman year at Caltech! I don’t think I fully grasped everything though so I reviewed everything using Leetcode and researching in my own! I also heard the book “Cracking The Coding Interview” is very useful!
Hi, Angel, I think you came from Colorado? If so, then how good is Colorado School of Mines relative to Caltech & MIT in quality & rigor of STEM education?
Hm, I wouldn’t know from experience because I have only taken classes at Caltech, but Colorado School of Mines is definitely known to be one of the top schools in Colorado for engineering! In terms of rigor, I have heard Caltech and MIT are more challenging, as the course work is extremely difficult to complete on your own (people have to collaborate to finish problem sets), whereas people I know who have attended School of Mines are able to do the work on their own!
@@suthiraphanassarat8669we aren’t allowed to collaborate on exams unless they a group projects! Sometimes problem sets will also have no-collab questions!
@@wAngel5 Thank you for the info but do Caltech students always have to average above 90% on their p-sets & exams for an A in any courses or sometimes they may get A for only 50% or below on everything that is graded in some classes?
@@suthiraphanassarat8669sorry for the late response! Every class is different (some classes may curve and some classes may have no exams even) but in general you will need at least an average of 90% to get an A!
Hi Angel thank you for your videos. Could you please make a video on when to take PSAT in high school. There are not many videos on this topic. Thank you in advance.
Hello! Unfortunately I wasn’t ever told the best time to take PSAT either, but my high school held the PSAT during my sophomore year in high school. I think you can take it anytime though! Sorry I couldn’t help much further :(
