Hello everyone! In this video I'll be talking about all the stats and extracurriculars that helped me get into the colleges I applied to! I also decided to talk about my Caltech essays because I haven't seen many videos about the school specifically. I hope you guys find this helpful :)

Great video, the essay questions made me feel a bit more confident on the application process. Im a sophmore at the moment and caltech has been my dream school since forever lol all my friends joke around on how much i love caltech. I watched both of your vids, and i wanted to ask, what part of your application do you think stood out the most? For me I do cubesat and I feel like that would be a strong part if my application.
@wAngel5

Thank you, I'm so happy you found this video helpful! I wouldn't say any part of my application really stood out the most, but I did participate (with leadership roles, not just as a member) in a lot of math competitions and STEM activities along with competitive volleyball. Yes, I believe cubesat would be a strong part of your application if you are very passionate about it. Good luck with your application!

Good evening! Just finished with my 2-year college this semester. Will be graduating with my AA degree in Liberal Arts next semester in May. After I complete with my AA degree in Liberal Arts, I will be doing training for acting to become an actor. Once I receive training in acting, I will be earning my BA degree in broadcast journalism within 3 years. I have been studying at a 2-year college within 7 years. However, I have been working on my AA degree in Liberal Arts within 6 years. When I was in my senior year of high school, I was planning to study computer specialist as getting my college degree. Due to my lower scores in my placement tests for reading and writing, I have switched from computer specialist as getting my college degree to management as getting my college diploma. During my second time attended to a 2-year college while I moved from state to state, I have switched from management as getting my college diploma to liberal arts as getting my AA degree. I was born in the city of Buffalo in New York. I lived there in my early childhood until age 5. I was in kindergarten when I left my hometown because my dad’s military. He is technically my stepdad, but I always call him dad because I live with him all my life. My bio parents are from Puerto Rico, and my stepdad is from Colombia. I have one younger brother in my mom’s side. I have four younger sisters and one younger brother in my bio dad’s side. I am working on my second book which is called my life throughout with autism and being a military child. I just finished with my first book. However, I will be including my 2-year college ceremony and my Grad Finale on my first book. I graduated from high school in the spring of 2016. I have been to 6 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 4 high schools, and 3 community colleges. I lived in three different states for 3 years, Virginia for 6 to 7 months, Puerto Rico for a year, and two different states for 2 years. For right now, I am living in Florida. I have been living here in Florida for 3 years. If you want to know which states I lived in before, my first book will be ready to publish soon. I am still working on my second book. Back in high school, I was an office assistant from the main office. My one-on-one assistant was my boss. I shredded papers and stamped books as my working experience for my vocational training. I mostly did shredded papers from the machine. In high school, I needed to take easy level courses to learn about the job for 10th and 11th grade. Other than that, I was mostly with regular education students throughout my high school career. In high school, I took coping skills, life skills, personal finance, basic math, economics, and vocational skills to help me learned about a job in real life. I was also in social skills group back in high school. I was mostly in general education curriculum back in high school, but with one-on-one assistants that were assisting me with my assignments to make sure that I was being good. It was back in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Back in college, I have taken English courses that were transitional courses. Later on, I have taken two English courses that were college levels. I have taken three math courses that were college levels, and I have taken two math courses that were transitional. Thankfully, I do not have to take any math courses anymore since I will be doing journalism as my major from a 4-year college. Will be including my internship for journalism at a 4-year college as well. You did a great job with your video. It is very impressive. Also, you did a great job with academics and your extracurriculars. Acting and journalism are something that I am passion about because those are my dream careers in the future. Television has always been my dream career at a young age. However, my parents could not afford it because I have to switch schools from state to state for another 2 to 3 years at a young age due to my dad’s job in the military service. I speak fluently in Spanish and English. However, I am still improving my Spanish. That was why I feel most comfortable speaking to Hispanic speakers in Spanish. Including my family who I grew up with and my bio family. I grew up with my family who are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I love all of my family in the same way. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3 before going to preschool. After I got diagnosed with autism, I grew up with Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) during my school years. I have qualified for Disability Services at a 2-year college within 7 years. I really enjoyed your video so much because your video is very helpful to me. Again, you did a great job with your video. It is very impressive to me. Wish you are the best of luck in college wherever you go. My name is Andres by the way. It is pleasure to meet you. God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️

@@_abc__ I do not know because it will depend on the school you go to and the exams you have taken, so you will have to do research on it! Hi! Did you skip calc AB? If so, do you think that it was a hard transition from pre-calc to calc BC?
@wAngel5
@wAngel5 3 года назад
Hi! Calc AB is Calculus 1, while Calc BC is Calculus 1 and 2. Calc BC doesn't skip any of the content from Calc AB, but it is a lot faster because you are learning double the amount of content in the same amount of time. I had my Calc BC class everyday, while Calc AB had classes every other day, but it was not a difficult transition from Pre-Calc :)

What’s your thoughts about Caltech going test blind?
@wAngel5
@wAngel5 4 года назад
I think it makes sense that they made that decision, because it will definitely be harder for students to have access to take the standardized tests due to COVID-19. Personally, I believe that standardized tests don't mean too much because some people could just be bad test-takers, and the tests might not accurately reflect their abilities. Because Caltech will increase its focus on each student's overall strengths by looking at their achievements in high school, the decision could be advantageous to students. Though, I do understand why some students would be frustrated about it.
@OOJosh
@OOJosh 4 года назад
Angel I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion. I myself have testing anxiety and when I realized that I could qualify for these schools without a test (4.0 GPA and decent ec) it gave a confidence boost. I honestly think SAT is something that someone masters but I never got the resources to help me. I give props for schools going test blind I really hope this could be the end of standardized testing but that’s just wishful thinking. Anyways thanks for replying and have a great week!
