If you believe the police version of ned kelly he was a thug, bully and thief ?

Ned Kelly is he was a psycopath who mass murdered 3 Irish born Victorian policemen sent out to arrest his for the attempted murdere of another policeman. He was not Irish, his father was an Irish Convict . Had it not been for the enormous courage of a schoolteacher and Kelly had derailed the train at Glenrowan, he would have slaughtered 28 people, 2 women, Mrs Oconnor and her sister, 5 reporters, 3 railway workers, 5 aboriginals and 13 policemen, plus their horses. It was his intent to shoot dead any survivors of the train wreck and because they were all in civilian clothes he would not have known who was who. When captured, a reporter asked him if he intended to derail the train he said"Yes, they would have done it to me". Had Kelly suceeded he would have been the greatest mass murderer in Australian history until Martin Bryant slaughtered 35 people in Tasmania in 1996. If you can prove otherwise, I stand corrected.

This is not the true story

In Australia, individuals of British and Irish descent are often referred to as Anglo-Celtic, sharing a common lineage. The actions of the Irish and British led to the drastic reduction of the Aboriginal populations in Australia and Tasmania. Despite this, the story of Ned Kelly, a criminal, is frequently recounted. However, there is a notable silence regarding the tragic history of the Aboriginal people in Australia and Tasmania. Indeed, this aspect of Australian history is often overlooked.

My mother used to tell us kids that the Kelly Gang and others used to stop by her family's homestead to rest up. Kelly was right to want a revolution. My direct ancestry goes straight back to an innocent 19 year old lad who was sent to Australia as a convict on board a convict ship. The Aussie govt which is thoroughly corrupt, and the cops haven't changed and still do these types of punitive things to people today to those with whom they disagree. Australia was in dire need of a 1776 American style revolution back then and as it is also today.

My great grandfather was a warder at Melbourne Jail .He was one of the warders that walked Ned Kelly in to be hung. His daughter my grandmother although only 4yrs old at the time told me how her father was to the point of crying and that the majority of warders there were of the same opinion that Ned had been rail loaded.

I am happy to be living in a time and place that has laws to protect the innocent and prosecut the guilty. Our sysyem is not perfect and mistakes do happen, however, it is getting better every day. Trial by jury proves my belief that the law is administered fairly, no one is above the law

Thank you for a very well researched account of a story that is of intrigue to every true Australian. I have read many different accounts of Ned Kelly’s story, however this video tells the story in a way that encompasses all that I have read. “I am a widow’s son, outlawed and my orders must be obeyed”

Didn't Heath Ledger play him?? Only reason I'm asking Is that in the movie I thought he was still portrayed ad more of a "road agent/bandit" & although they did make him somewhat of a folk hero in it.. They didn't seem "to me" like they done his story justice...Thank you great video

Although no relation, (we share the same surname) I visited the site of the siege and capture during the early 1970's. It looks pretty well the same in the video as it did back then and I still recall the lump I felt in my throat as I tried to visualise what had happened during those fateful days all those years earlier.

They were thieves no matter how much spin people put on it. A horse back then was the most expensive asset families owned. And same as robbing money from a bank. Their was no insurance. Robbing a bank was stealing from hard honest people in the area. Ned Kelly had the skills to make a honest living and he chose not to.

And now in a new century we see the politising of Victorian police through the pandemic, two teir policing against those that dont follow the paolitical narrative, and those politicians living as fat cats, high on the hog, not listening to the public and doing as they wish, much like the early wealthy settlers....... if nothing changes, nothing changes... such is life!
