Old Deno singing "Houston" and Tony Christie singing "Amarillo" both give high honors to the Lone Star State, our beloved Texas!!!!!!!! MANY THANKS!!!!!!!!!
This was a time when many singer/entertainers who had their own variety TV show lip-synced to their recorded songs - a number of reasons contributed to this, TV technology then probably wasn't capable of reproducing a decent sound quality, TV budgets most likely couldn't handle the expense of hiring an orchestra or big band, many times the show would be broadcast in a small and intimate setting which didn't have enough room, etc......this would explain why the middle sections (usually an instrumental "bridge") would be cut from the recording so the singer wouldn't just stand there staring into a blank space until the vocal starts again. In this case, and only Dean Martin possessed the dry, comedic timing to pull it off, ol' Dino let the instrumental break play on while he was having fun standing as still as possible and 'playing' with the audience until the last verse began and he finished in grand style! Dean Martin had some special talents that unfortunately slipped under the radar because the media always focused on his drinking and personal issues. He was definitely one-of-a-kind!
This is a hard to find version. His stylized version is on Apple Music. Once again, a RU-vid poster had helped me out ! I knew that I’d be able to find it here !
I was six years old when Dean Martin had his television program in 1967, and was absolutely in love with him! Looks, charm, humor, and a hell of a singer! What else was a six year old to love? Or any age, for that matter! Got myself a husband with looks, charm, humor, and, while he hasn't a hell of a voice, he is a hell of a pianist!! He owes Dean Martin!
Dean was so handsome, cant take your eyes off him. His talents in singing, acting were amazing. He preformed over the top with ease, a man no one can duplicate
