Welcome! I’m Vince and I’ve been playing with cars my whole life. Here you’ll find a variety of goofy, amateur car content spanning DIY projects, track day laps, stories, event highlights, and my worthless opinions.
And remember, "Cars are boring, it’s what you do with them that makes them interesting.” - Russell Bulgin
Miles equal smiles and a dirty car is a sign of a happy driver. No garage queens. This is the way.
I just ordered this Garmin, as I have been doing track days for years now with zero devices, so this will be my first. My question is this, my car is pretty much a track only car and the interior is gutted, meaning no radio, no cigarette lighter, so, what do I do for a power source? I certainly dont want to be cutting and splicing brand new wires that came with the Garmin. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Great video by the way.
You're going to love it! Seriously it's the easiest device to use. Anyway in the box it does come with a hardwire kit already that has two bare end wires and an inline fuse. So you should be good to go!
Goddamn I love those. Mod it to have a port hole for servicing, intake, headers, exhaust (capristo), and tune. Best Ferrari ever. GTS with a 6 speed is the dream. Too bad people caught on and values are up
There are some good videos on RU-vid showing how to do a belt change with the engine in place, which I think is how a lot of the shops actually do it. Agreed that too many people chasing the cats now and values are too high
BMW does this a lot too, they fly American testers to Germany to test the car in all kinds of conditions and to find the best ways to manufacture the new cars.
My daily driver is a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS. I would not trade this for a 992. The simple lack of the gear shift knob in the 992 is enough for me to keep driving my 991.2. I also like the analog gauges in the 991.2.
Yeah and probably with even better hybrid tech by now! BTW have you seen my video on how much the 918 battery costs to replace? Most are coming up on their 10 year due date for a new hybrid battery!
Very good video. So, my 911 (992.1) was just finished being built at the factory. It’s a GTS Coupe with a manual transmission. Do I think the new hybrid will be super fast and bad ass? Absolutely. But, I wanted a 911 that would have a manual and engaging. Not just floor it and go WFO and fly down the road. I did that in my ‘23 C8 Corvette. Great car but something was missing and I believe the Porsche I ordered and will be getting will be one that won’t be easily replaced. Cheers to Porsche for always engineering to the highest level. 🏁
@@AtypicalDriver Manual, rear steering, no sunroof, 18 way heated and ventilated seats, side skirts, premium pkg, LED-Matrix Design Headlights in Black and Illuminated Lateral Gills on Taillights. White exterior and all black interior.
@@WFO. Sounds nice! I drove a 992.1 when Porsche did the test drive event at Laguna when they first came out, but I don't recall if it had rear wheel steering or not. Overall was such a nice package and the low rpm torque of the turbos was a game changer versus my 991.1S. (Mine is also white, so good choice!)
Considering Porsche is going down that road, and with previous outstanding cars and prototypes to back this up, there doesn’t seem to be any chance of not buying hybrid if one wants a 992.2. Unless some specific versions such as the GT3 continues to be on offer purely NA without hybrid boost. Hybrid wouldn’t be my first choice, but I’m not against it either. As long as Porsche succeeds to provide the brand’s feel and DNA when one is at the wheel - especially in a 911 - then no worries. But it will have to be totally convincing. A new chapter starts on Tuesday 😎
Thanks, great video. I think there are few EV sport cars because sports car drivers by nature are petrol heads, they love engines and the mechanical feel of an engine. I drive 911’s my wife has a Taycan. The Taycan is very capable and good to drive, but I never look out of the window and think “I can’t wait to start up that Taycan”, every time I see my 911, I want to drive it or start it up. it’s beating heart is it’s engine, there is no getting away from that. Also most sports car drivers buy or own their cars, most don’t tend to lease, in the UK no one is buying EV’s, they’re only being leased because residuals are so poor on EV’s vs petrol. I am actually kind of excited about the hybrid 911’s, they’ll still have the iconic flat 6, but I don’t know what to think about the impending EV Cayman / Boxster? I used to own a Cayman GTS, the whole essence of that car was the angry engine right behind your head, an EV Cayman 🤦♂️, sure it will be fast and capable but will you want to drive it? And the residuals ……….
I agree, I mean I only own petrol cars so totally agree with you but in my other video on EV sports cars I do mention that instant torque and I sane acceleration might be fun if they can keep the weight down and centralize the mass so that it handles like a sports car. Lots of EVs use a flat floor battery but that's good for low CG but bad for handling overall. I just find it a little crazy there are all these insanely fast EV sedans but not many EV sports cars with two doors.
For me the 911s are perfect for electrification, since you don't have the transmission, drive shaft or exhaust cutting the half of the car's midriff, so there enough space for a flat battery pack, which helps reduce the CoG of the car, which is good since the entire powertrain of the car is at the rear axle. What surprised me is how long it took to come to fruition, but I guess Porsche doesn't want to take too radical decisions with their flagship car, which is understandable.
I think I should do another video on EV battery position and how that effects handling. I touched on it in my "Where are the electric sports cars" video a little bit if you want to take a look on my channel! Thanks for watching.
I live in a place where car manufacturers like to test their cars. Saw the Taycan early one morning and was so thrilled when I saw the production car looked the same 😊
Bureaucratic oversight bullshit! Too many laws that have little actual benefit, but incur heavy costs for companies! In the end, it’s ultimately the consumer suffers by paying more and getting less.
Thank you. That was very informative!. I was struggling with connecting to my Hero3, I think because I had not disconnected from my home router. My Galaxy 21 camera actually works really well, but it blocks my view. I'm hoping to located my GoPro in a better spot and use that instead of the Galaxy 21 internal camera. Only thing I'm wondering is if I need to upgrade the GoPro Hero 3 + to the cheapest model with image stabilization. Any thoughts please?
The image stabilization does help a lot in a car. But if you want to minimize vibration on your current camera just make sure it's securely mounted and with a very short mount...such as the go pro stick on mounts. If the mount has a long "arm" between the mount and the actual camera it'll vibrate more.
@@AtypicalDriver Just a follow up question. I have Harry's Laptimer Grand Prix Edition, blue light flashing on my GoPro Hero 3plus, switched the auto connects to my home wifi OFF, still cannot find the GoPro on Lap Timer. Any ideas please?
oops, sorry, I forgot to mention that although I get under SETTINGS External Cam. This preference's current value: GoPro HERO3/3+ But apparently it still doesn't see it?
@@rdvideoclips Hmmm, I'm not 100% sure on the Hero3, but have you checked this out? It had some tips for that camera: forum.gps-laptimer.de/viewtopic.php?t=1241
Thank you for creating this video of your journey and why we all need to be driving our Porsches. Mine will be built in a week and I’m excited to get it and go put miles on it. You’ve inspired me. Thanks again
