Well...now the status ofUS Army watercraft has reached the bottom. We've ended pre-positioning, ended the Ocean going tugs, ended adeuate maintenance of watercraft of all sizes. We have proven the we have no adequate planning cell for JLOTS, no adeuate stocks of material to build these piers. Maybe its time to rebuild the capability... The goal should be how to efficiently move aid into Gaza by road like UNRWA was doing since it’s establishment in 1950. The organisation was providing 500 trucks of aid every day until Israeli put a stop to it. Surely the obvious thing for USA to do is to make its continued arming of Israel conditional on a resumption of the UNRWA aid going in? This way there would be no need for any ship to shore operations at all (or am I missing something!?)
Hi Sal, When you say "came ashore," it sounds intentional and proper. In this case, don't you mean "grounded" or "beached?" When I see an operation go SNAFU like this, I assume it's >> supposed << to fail. In this case the politicians can spend the money, then say "Well, we tried" and feel good about themselves. So let me get this right. Israel is America's ally. The US is Israel's number one supporter. US gives them huge financial and military assistance, without which Israel would collapse. Israel is so in synch with the US, people have always called Israel the 51st state. All it will take for the humanitarian aid to change is for the US to tell their client state Israel, they want them to allow aid in, and it will happen. So, what is all this drama and theatre with this Pier?

This was all a smoke screen to give Biden cover for Israel not meeting their Geneva Convention obligations. I hope the pier does fail! If the same amount of effort had been applied to the Gaza crossings and security requirements, then the aid convoys would be entering at a rapid pace by now. Once again, Israel gets its own way even though they are breaking international law. Once again, the US provides cover for Israel, and once again, the US is made to look like fools.
These failure we keep on having from what your saying here are completely avoidable. So why are the people with experience not voicing their opinion. Or are they not being listeneded too. This definitely does not look good. One person should not make the sole decision, especially if they do not have any experience. They need to seek opinion from people with experience, so much money being wasted, accountability needs to be uphold.

Technicalities aside, this was a foolish and unnecessary project. The primary problem in Gaza is internal distribution of aid. This really does nothing at all to alleviate that problem. IMHO, this was more about politics, with Biden wanting to appear to be doing something.
