Welcome to Nourish Your Crown! Our mission is to encourage, inspire, and support you on your hair journey. This channel was created because it is the type of content and community that I was looking for when I started navigating through some tough hair loss challenges.
What I'm learning on this journey is that it is not easy or quick. It's filled with ups and downs, laughs, tears, and hopefully, some good heart-filling and soul-satisfying recipes along the way. Join me as we learn, explore, and participate in the healing process. Let's look for God in these mundane, hard, and beautiful places. Let's live well, live blessed and nourish our crowns. 👑💕
If you want to understand the link between vit d and hair loss and how to use it, watch Dr Berg’s video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Q0x3_X9NEY.htmlsi=cJMBK91h_oLFNaTV
I don’t believe melanin blocks vitamin D, I think it simply regulates how much we can absorb because we can easily get too much living in sunny regions. In sunny areas, you get about 20,000iu of vitamin D daily from the sun. The hotter it is, the more you get. So melanin is produced to keep the levels acceptable when living in hotter climates. The reason black ppl living in cooler climates struggle is because there is a significant drop in vitamin D levels in the winter months and you can’t make up for it in summer even if it gets really hot. You need it to be CONSISTENT! We are SUPPOSED to be in sunny climates 24/7, 365! THEN you have black ppl using even more sunblock - making the problem much worst because melanin is a NATURAL sunblock. Africans don’t die from skin cancer - the sun causes skin cancer if you don’t have enough protection (melanin) from its harmful rays.
We are people of the sun. Of course vitamin D is ESSENTIAL because this is the sunshine vitamin! Most melanated people who live under the sun, don’t experience as many issues as we do because we don’t.
Thank you So Much for having Dr. Li on your show. I was recently diagnosed with CCA Alopecia. I also purchased both of Books. He explains things in a way that anyone can understand him
He’s talking about strawberries and how they’re tart and sweet. Like so how they taste good. I find it rare to actually find decent tasting fruit abundant strawberries are one of those. For the most part strawberries don’t taste right
Chia need to be hydrated because they absorb a lot of water. I put 3 tablespoons of chia seeds in a glass water bottle and fill with water and mix for a few minutes until they don't float to the top of the bottle. Store in refrigerator and then pour over salads . Add to smoothies or drinks
A huge cause of Inflammation is visceral far in our torso destroying your liver and other organs. Get your blood work done . ALT should be around 25-30 . Unfortunately, it's not flagged until 40-50. Do your own research on RU-vid doctor's on this subject
I doubt very seriously if you can FIND any natural food in America.....years ago food was MEDICINE..... nowadays they're intentionally poisoning us with our food..... even the seeds are genetically modified... good video though I like his helpful and the thoughtful attitude......😢😮😅
Instead of using bottled Ranch Dressing, I make Ranch Dressing by using a Ranch Dip packet and mix it with sour cream to first make the dip. Then when I want some Ranch Dressing, I scoop out a couple tablespoons and mix it with a little water and heavy cream…and now you have Ranch Dressing without adding any sugar or seed oils 👍
I have loved dr li's work for some time now and enjoyed many of his interviews and i gotta say that THIS one is incredibly delightful and informative abd i just LOVE the interviewer cuz her character.integrity and spirit is wayyyy high, not atall about herself - they are a great delightful duo - thank you BOTH,❤
You are so welcome! Dr. Li is amazing and I’m so grateful that he took the time to share his expertise with us. I also appreciate your kind words -thank you!!
@@nourishyourcrown well he chose the right one from where I sit, cuz while none of us is perfect of course, some are lesser in character than others. To this point and as a very old woman i will dare to say that i've witnessed (this is only me talking here!) him being interviewed for instance, a chronic interrupter, a coquettish bimbo...i shall say no more, except that the man sure CAN endure!🙄 Conversely, I noticed that the 2 of you complimented one another and he clearly enjoyed the interview and it was delightful to me. Thats all - thank you for listening!❤
@@nourishyourcrown Yes, all is well and I am getting closer to a start date. Thank you for encouragement and such great information. I ordered the book.
Lynn, fantastic you are giving us the best america has to offer. I have follow Dr. Li for approximately 4 or 5 years. He is a genius ( created pharma. med., arterie expert...) I am 64yrs; I live in Germany with my husband for 21 yrs. But I tune in to American podcast.(I am black from California). Lynn as the teenagers say you are going to blow up. (Please say subscribe and like for the Algorithm.) We need you Lynn, and you should be compensated for your time. Danke, Lyne
Hi @Serenity64456! Thank you so much for your kind words! Dr. Li is amazing and I'm so grateful that he chose to spend some time with us! I've visited twice and went to Berlin, Frankfurt, and Cologne during my time there! You're so right about saying "subscribe and like!" I've got to do that more frequently so thanks for the reminder!
@@nourishyourcrown Hi Lynn, I live not far from Hamburg. I was thinking about what Dr. Li said about scaring CCA (and others...). But Rob (Perfect Hair Health) beliefs in massaging; and another technique to break up scaring on the scalp. Have you visit his site? What do you think? Thanks, Lyne
I loved this conversation! Great information. Thank you. I’m going to go follow him now. I’m a CCCA survivor and I’m learning more about reducing inflammation in my body and scalp.
Do you mind sharing how long it took for your CCCA to quiet? And what was your regime? I was diagnosed March of this year. They had me oral antibiotics, steroid cream and 6 months of steroid scalp injections. I'm still experiencing hair fall and just looking for it to stop.
Hi @pamelaturner579! It took a few months for the shedding to stop and for the scalp inflammation to stop. In fact, it got worse before it got better. The things that helped: eliminating dairy (lactose intolerant and this helped reduce gut issues), increased anti-inflammatory foods, added supplements (turmeric w/ black pepper, pumpkin seed oil, and spearmint, see the top 5 supplements video for more details), simplified my wash routine (no oils or products on my scalp), and increased exercise. Sleep, hydration, and stress resilience were/are also helpful.
@@qiv777 Its more or less what foods we eat less of- because inflammation is the main cause of hair loss that is a apart of immune response - check out /@backtothebarber channel for more info.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! It’s true that different foods can affect people in different ways, and everyone’s body responds uniquely. It’s all part of our individual journey to discover what nourishes and supports us best. Wishing you continued health and well-being!
That's a great question! I think it depends on individual preference. I like the Message Bible because it's translated from the original Greek and Hebrew Scriptures. There's also the NKJV and ESV that are more "traditional" and the Passion version is one that I've been reading as well. Do you have a preference?
Very informative. I will check out Dr. Li's book because I recently came across a few of his videos on here and really appreciate his straightforward, get-to-the-point style. I'm glad you touched on metabolic health! I wonder how Dr. Li views this in relation to the gut microbiome; maybe to his point, it all goes back to the foods you eat. For example, if someone is holding onto excess weight and experiencing a slowed metabolism, then that's something they could feasibly reverse by bringing in more "abundant" foods, which we also know supports a healthy, diverse microbiome. Ps: I wish doctors were more educated on health vs. just disease. You really can't even have a productive conversation with them because of this disconnect.
This was one of my favorite videos to record! Little did I know that when I read Dr. Li's book 2+ years ago that he would agree to be a guest on our channel! So grateful to share this with you all! Would love to hear what's your personal experience with using food as medicine? Have you noticed any improvements in your hair and/or health after changing your diet? Leave a comment below and thanks for sharing!!💛
I use a couple of different brands: NOW, Trader Joe's or Swanson. I've also since learned that it's helpful to get Vitamin D with K2 (always check with your doctor first!). Check out the video Vitamin D video with nutritionist Robin M. There's a link to her brand in the description box.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am borderline depressed with my condition and everyday takes a lot for me to be optimistic about growing my hair back. I take chronic medication for a number of health issues and sometimes believe that's where the problem is. I will certainly take your advice about nutrition as a start and work my way from there. God bless.
Thank you for your feedback! I completely understand where you're coming from, and like you, I also wash my hair weekly. The guest was making a generalization based on common experiences, but I always encourage everyone to take what resonates with them personally. If it doesn't apply, let it fly! We're all on unique hair journeys, and I appreciate your voice in the conversation.
