On this channel we will follow my journey of starting a candle business from the very beginning, giving you real time results as I try to grow my business. We will go through candle making and other products as well.
Great ideas for wholesaling car diffusers 👍. Thanks for that - I hadn’t considered that. I’m getting ready to roll out some car diffusers (I’m labeling them as “mini” diffusers) soon to see how they do on my website. I can see how they would sell better in person, but I’ll give it a go on-line. Just subscribed. I’ve watched a couple of your vids and didn’t realize that I hadn’t subscribed yet 😳 I’m enjoying your content.
@@aromataecandles haha thank you for the support! And best of luck with the roll out! I’m sure they will do great. How many scents are you starting with?
I think that TikTok has been a great advertisement for us that do make car diffusers. I started adding silicone and focal beads to my diffusers to jazz them up a bit. I do better at events with the diffusers. I have mine in a store but don't do ask well. Thanks for sharing an update!
@@knightlightcandleco I had actually reached out to them as I was in another store during that time. After leaving the store I was in, it unfortunately closed. I try looking in the surrounding counties that I'm in for boutiques that are looking for new vendors. I'm a one woman show so I know how tough it can be on one person to try and grow your business.
@@hollythomas773 the one person thing is super tough! I’m actually in the process of refining systems in my business and documenting everything so if I get to the point where I can bring someone else along, I can maintain that consistency in my products. I’ll certainly keep you all updated on if I can get in any shops as well! If you have any tips, feel free to throw them on here! 😁
Im new to listening as well. Thank you for you transparency. Im thinking of starting a candle business myself. Its nice to see other peoples experiences.
@@youbydashka2891 so I actually designed the boxes myself using Canva, and then I worked with an overseas supplier to manufacture them on Alibaba. As a new business I’m looking to save costs as much as possible so using an overseas supplier let me get high quality boxes for a fraction of the price. Locally sourced companies seem to charge a lot more!
bro i been looking to see if i can find a STR88 dude that makes candles like i do and its hard lmao.... bro keep doing ya thing. me and my wife have a company call (jynee candle co ) named after my daughter... i just subcribed and ima def keep in touch bro.. its a breath of fresh air to see another black man doing this.....
@@thomasmcmanus8255 I use the reed diffuser base from candlescience.com! I’d refer you to their website so I don’t butcher any specifics. www.candlescience.com/reed-diffusers/reed-diffuser-base/
None of mine smell - although everyone recommends the same. What am I doing wrong???????? Where do u get bottles from bc it might be the covers not being porous enough but not a scientist … above my brain grade
I'm sorry to hear that your diffusers aren't working properly! I'm not sure what could be the problem, but I get my 8ml diffuser bottles right from amazon! I typically buy about 300 diffuser bottles at a time.
Thank you for being transparent yeah the wick thing is t for the faint in heart I’m going through that now but I’m not going to quit I love candles and making people feel good and change people mood and environments.
I make and sell these.. and yes it matters . the fragrance oil shouldn't come in contact with your skin. some are OK like the ones made for soap and lotion. but most are not safe for skin as I'm sure your aware.. I sell a similar vial at my booth along with wax melts. I tested in my car and husband's truck for two months before selling. what I found is some of the little wood lids are faulty. they don't screw tightly and this causes the bottle to unscrew and fall to the floor of the truck. Luckily not much spilled out. The other one would swing so wildly over a speed bump or driveway that the glass would literally hit my windshield. had to shorten the slack on em.. they work really well. after 2 months my glass vial was still half full and it was 105 degrees for weeks and it didn't dry them out. You do need to tilt to add fragrance to the reed lid about once a week or so to keep it smelling and when you tilt it your fingers get coated in fragrance. they aren't perfect but they do the trick ..
Everything happens for a reason!! I'm so happy this was able to get to you in time! Remember we only fail if we quit. You got this! Work through the tough times and we will be successful!
Very nice very luxurious, that's a good idea with the subscription boxes. I'm still experimenting with jars and wicks. I tried wooden wicks and had a great fail, but I'm going to try again after seeing you doing wooden wicks with success. I never thought of pouring the wax over the wick part. Thanks for the videos and sharing! 😊
You got this! What was the fail you encountered with the wood wicks if you don’t mind me asking? Also thank you so much for the support and your kind words!
Great content! As for video making, do improve your audio as it will be more engaging to audience (there is a cool page called think idea on RU-vid and they have some good tips)
Hey! So I originally got my wicks from Amazon, however, I have since moved to Makesy and use the .03 booster wood wick. I use the coconut soy wax from Direct Candle Supply as well!
Your product looks great. So curious, since there is different names such as "body spray", "body mist" and a "perfume" since they are all sprays, what are the differences? It's hard trying to use the correct names when making sprays. Yours lasted 12 hours, would that be a perfume instead of a mist? Just wanted your opinion and advice! Thanks for sharing!
Hey! So the main difference between a perfume and body mist is that body mists use a lower concentration of fragrance oil and higher concentration of water/alcohol base. Meanwhile perfumes use a heavy load of fragrance oils and have a lot stronger scent. The mists are a bit more subtle. I hope that helps!
Thank you!!! I’m seeing so many people in makers groups just adding 50% to 100% oil. I’ve been hearing stories of car interior getting ruined and people are starting to get scared to even buy them! People need to understand the responsibility of making handmade items! Thank you for educating!
I like your ideas great insight on future customers. Thank you,,,I follow your channel as a candle artist and maker. You’ve added value to my small business.
@@Melaninbeauty88 so each of the containers I use are 8ml. So if you have a fragrance oil that allows up to 25% fragrance load. You would use 6ml base and 2ml fragrance oil. Remember to always check the IFRA to make sure your oil allows for that 3 to 1 ratio though!
