When you draw it out, you need to make sure you have minus lenses touching at the apex and plus* lenses touching at the base. Once you draw out where the eyes are in relative to the optical centers of the lenses, you’ll easily be able to draw a line from the eyes centers and see where the line falls relative to the oc. For example in the first example he shows, the line is away from the optical center on the midline (or nasal) side, so the base is IN from where the eyes are looking. In this same example, if the lenses were plus, it would be the opposite because the lenses would be base-to-base. It’s always useful to draw it out for these types of problems.
Is it normal to see as a astigmatiam person in ajustment period with your glasses? I have astigmatism glasses and i see that down blur with my glasses in ajustment period. Is it normal?
I'm not a doctor but sometimes it helps if you get your glasses refitted; they do it at the eye glass shops. Also try dry eye drops (without redness relievers).
How do I determine the PD (Ocular center) on a finished pair of glasses with prism? For example, if a patient brings in an outside pair of glasses and I don't have the PD they measured it at.
I don't follow this at all. If there is prism in each lens how is negative for prism? Hopefully this is only needed for MD's or OD's? As a technician, am I going to need to know this?
I always cringe when people say "I have 20/20 vision!" like it's some kind of Achievement or Talent? Lol. It's literally just luck based on your refraction of your eyes,
Questions don't hurt. Ignorance does. I told this woman I was legally blind and she started treating me like a total invalid, as if I could do nothing, and raised then slowed her voice. It's totally f'n inSIULTing. I'm LEGALLY BLIND, NOT DEAF, DUMB AND BRAIN-DEAD! I can't pass the "Driver's test." That makes me pretty grounded & causes MAJOR problems with everything.
Thanks Sunny, I always do this. Then I always confirm my own Snellen. Currently, confirming 20/20. I wore a plus lens (for near) to go from 20/50, to 20/20. Or a refractive change of from -0.75 D to +0.25 D. It took a year to get this result. It is a good way to prevent myopia.
My left eye glass prescription is Power -6.5 CYL -3.00 axis 170. After converted to contact lens prescription, it is only available in either: 1) Power -6.00 CYL -1.75 axis 180, or 2) Power -6.50 CYL -1.25 axis 165 (I have added an extra 0.5 in power to compensate the big jump in CYL). The axis in 1) 180 degree is not as close as 2) 165 degree to my real eye axis 170 degree, but 1) has a better CYL. Which one should I choose?
in the astigmatism test, I saw the bolder line in 30-40 degrees (the other lines are kinda blurry) but my ophtometrist is kind of a douchebag so I dont know what my axis is (autorefractor shows 180, but 180 doesnt work for me) can you tell me which axis I should be using?
Can you explain I used to wear minus cylinder but few weeks ago I ordered pair of glasses from producer who has Only plus cyl. Optometrist converted my old prescription into plus cyl. And boy it feels easy for my eyes and more comfy with plus cyl. Why. But prescription technically same without convertion
Today I was diagnosed with astigmatism. I always read with my left eye closed but never really realized it until my partner pointed it out. I got my glasses and now I feel like I have HD eyeballs. The difference is still just so amazing. I never knew anything was wrong-thought the glares were normal and thought the overlapping images was due to my just being dizzy or tired.
So i got astigmatism -0.75 (180) and -0.5(180 axis) ...i see halo around lights with a rainbow around the halo ...i had got my retina checked 2 months back for a different reason (saw a floater then) and doctor mentioned everything was normal..then y am i seeing halos around lights with rainbow border
