Thanks so much! Finally the pixelart tutorial that isn't "so you are able to draw photorealistic paintings, here's how to transfer this skill into pixelart"
Why not just use a mouse near the couch where you sit when working on the TV? That's what I do. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, as well as a wireless drawing pad for when I need to draw things out. Although I mostly use the drawing pad for other projects, not RPG Maker. I find that more than 90% of the work can be done with just a mouse alone. I also use a virtual keyboard if I need to type something up. For short inputs, like one or two words or even a sentence, I use the virtual keyboard instead of the actual keyboard. When I need to do longer writing, I use the physical keyboard. Additionally, I use voice typing software called LilySpeech to write with words rather than using the keyboard at all, like I'm doing with this comment right now. Because of this setup, I do most of my work right on the couch instead of going to my main computer. I barely touch it! I do need to go to the main computer occasionally, but for the most part, I get to work on the big screen while being on the couch. The couch has cup holders, is very comfortable, helps with stress, has a recliner, can rotate, and is a single seat. Most importantly it helps me think and relax and just have fun doing this rather than sitting on the chair by the computer on the desk and then your back pain starts to kick in along with any other side effects that comes with sitting on the desk especially your butt sitting on that chair for hours going to hurt but not on the couch!
Ric can you help me man? I am looking through RPG maker games trying to find out where the image quality is good before I commit to the engine. I can not find any game where the art is crisp, clean and bright. Is it something which the program which makes high quality visuals impossible?
Artists need to stop selling for so cheap, 50$ for like 50hours of work is actually not good at all and will burn your creativity out for the lack of reward. You"r good at it and deserve actual money for it. I'd suggest to not even sell it, but make a portfolio out of it. Nobody deserve to buy a full tileset for a few $
Thank you for the comment, you're very kind. I wouldn't call myself an artist and I don't believe to be that good at pixel art. I don't deserve more than what I got tbh... If anything, there are better tilesets on itch.io that are sold for cheaper as they're often on sale, if I were looking for tilesets I'd buy those instead
I just found your video by chance, and I'm just here to say that the whole video is so inspiring and informative! The message in the end really connects to me as an artist as well! Cheers to our creative journeys! 😊✨
I like this a lot, curious about the plugin though, is there any way to keep the enemies from just walking around randomly like that? Like maybe give them fixed pathing or stationary with an animation?
This is so cool! I’d love a short video of how you make your tiles, export them, and import to set up in the engine. Do you draw up the whole level as one piece, and then place the tiles manually after import? I find this very interesting 😅 Lots of process questions, lol! Thanks for the devlog, looking forward to following along!😊
For additional enemies, maybe add a flying enemy, like a vulture, or another ground enemy, like a snake or centipede that acts as a weaker version of the scorpion. The vulture could act as weak or standard enemy, but as you defeat other enemies around it, it could gain a bit of additional health back by 'scavenging and eating the bodies of the enemies you killed'. The snake and centipede could have quicker attacks, but do little damage, or you could have them cause a status effect. Alternatively for the centipede, you could have it do weak attacks, but have high health set into segmented sections of the centipede which take up multiple turns, so for example, the head attacks but the rest of the turns offer the player a chance to take out a segment of the body. If you give the centipede a status effect like poision, the additional segments could potentially be used to stall and build up damage on the player.
