I'm also stuck in 90's jrpg era and also happy not to be alone in this. My biggest issue with MV MZ though is no export to console capability but if your staying in the PC and mobile platforms its a good choice.

It's been real fun working on this new project, I've done quite some progress and there's even a short playable prototype now ;) You're right, no matter what the engine is, it is a game at the end of the day. The player on the other side won't know what engine was used

@@FlowPoly Gotcha. Well it's the 20th best selling game for Super NES, has made the top 10 for many RPG rankings, and seems to get re-released on current platforms every few years. Objectively speaking, definitely not underrated. It's actually difficult to find an all-time ranking that doesn't mention it. And because tone gets lost over text, don't take this comment as hostile or anything. Just shooting the breeze.

This is such a cool video! Idk why I've never heard of RPG Maker before. I'm trying to make a game that is more focused on buying and selling as well as interacting with NPCs like a visual novel. Would I be able to use RPG Maker for that?

Thank you Maya! You can definitely use RPG Maker for a game focused on buying/selling, there are a lot of plug-ins which allows you to do just that 😉 as for the visual novel format, it should be possible by simply showing different pre-rendered images given different circumstances but I'd do a bit more research as I've never looked into this specific visual novel scenario. The issue I have with the plug-ins is some of them are not approved for use in commercial projects. Now, I'm probably not going to try to sell what I make any time soon, but I want to have the option of being compensated for my hard work eventually.

Can you create a tutorial series on how you used chrono engine plugin with these final boss blue assets ? There’s some other tutorials but they use the custom default chibby look .

Hello Rafael! You can simply replace the images in the img folder of the demo ;) Just make sure to keep the names consistent and it should work!

They are definitely connected (Sheila's storyline ends in Chrono Cross + Kid is linked to Lucca) but the connections are a bit convoluted

@@MncMarcos You should add RPG Maker MV to your wishlist on steam - usually few times in a year (especially on christmas) they do a sale on like -70% and even up to -90% on all RPG Makers. So maybe you'll be able to get it in a very good price soon :) Also wouldnt recommend the newest version (RPG Maker MZ), at least yet - its not much of important difference from RPG Maker MV, and you will find free plugins for RPG Maker MV more easily. Chrono trigger is OK Imho.. The strong point is the music. Scenes are emotional because of the music. If the music was terrible the rest of the game would fall apart.

lol Dude...Chrono Trigger isn't underrated and unknown...It's one of the most well known critically acclaimed games of all time! It's a well known classic.
