Thank you...I thought I was adding an extra YO but I see it's right to move the yarn to front or back btw purl and plain...phew I was about to unpick and start over.
I like to start my first row by doing the stitches in the "back bump" to make a nice bottom edge. I usef a size H hook and did 21 rows. Mine ending up.being 7 1/2" x 7 1/2". Nice pattern to work with. I found the edges to be nice with no border needed and fabric was thick. Thanks!
Very nice tutorial, I like how you explain everything so clearly and your tips. Thank you for that. I can't wait to try this pattern I'm going to use it as a dishcloth. I like dishcloths made out of the cotton yarn better than the ones you buy.
I cast 30 stitches since you said we can start with any number of stitches. After two rows I realized that it's not working. Then I learned from another video to cast on a multiple of 4.
Was left frustrated by this. Definitely not for beginners as advertised. When you watch it at first it gives the impression it will be achievable but when you try to crochet along with it it quickly goes wrong…The video skips important aspects a beginner needs eg saying what the stitch count should be at each stage. Right at the start she turns the initial loop around (which is important before starting). The transition from finishing the based to starting the sides is skipped - just mentioned briefly. Also no access to the written pattern despite everyone on here asking for it. What a shame. I’m off to rip it all back and find a video that is helpful.
Hi, and thank you for watching! I always appreciate feedback and video requests that can help people learn more clearly but ask that you please be kind when doing so. I have an updated video where I show this stitch beginning with casting on. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hh9vOvj78h8.html Good luck on your journey learning to knit and have a wonderful day!
(tl;dr) This isn't a bad tutorial, but it's honestly a bit hard to follow for absolute beginners. (I'm trying to compose some constructive criticism, and by no means do I intent to insult or degrade the work or the video, so I hope my tone doesn't come off as harsh.) It's often basically presumed that you _already_ know certain stitches and terms, for starters. Furthermore, it can get confusing when it comes to the number/total amount of stitches - instead of saying "a double and then a single and a single and a single" just say "a double and then three singles, like this" and then show an example. Same with the amount of rows to do when it comes to the walls, or how many stitches you should end up with per round. It's a lot easier to realise you've made a mistake if you can count your stitches and know whether the numbers line up or not. I often find that when there ARE explanations, they are often out of synch with what she's currently doing, or they double back, which adds to the confusion of not understanding all the terms she's using. In the beginning she often covered up important parts with her fingers that would've helped a _great_ deal in trying to orientate yourself on your _own_ piece to find the loop she's talking about to insert your hook. I often had to replay, stop, or slow the video down just to try and find the spot she's talking about. (and here, again, not being told what number of stitches you _should_ end up with didn't really help) I mean- I eventually got it done, yes, but not without having to skip back and forth, replay, slow down, or stop the video just to understand what's going on or to keep up. I got the basket done, and I'd totally deem it a beginner project bc I did learn a lot and it's really not that hard, but this tutorial was often not very beginner-friendly.
