We didn't exactly need three color swaps. We could've replaced Subzero with Kung Lao and Scorpion with Baraka. I'll cut Reptile some slack since he was a locked character in the first game. Also, replace Mileena with Raiden or Cage.

Thx for the video. It brings back good memories of the 90s. I remember renting the game over the weekend from a local rental shop. I was playing all the time trying to beat the game. My mom and me where going to a chinese restaurant and meeting with her friends. On that evening I was finally able to beat the game. Man was I happy.

Batman... oh yeah... this game is tough as nails, but is one that is totally worth the trouble of enduring the pain to finish it, especially when you don't need to deal with the usual limited amount of continues that most games from the 80's and 90's had to make the games last longer when you don't know how to deal with the obstacles at the points you get stuck with losing all lives over and over, recenlty I got inspired to make better runs of both USA and JPN versions of Bayou Billy (due to your own playthrough of course). This game's huh..."sequel?" is also a good one, even if story-wise feels kinda forced (as during that time there was no Batman Returns) and also the innability to use punches but rather a "gun", and yeah, we can't go wrong with Ninja Gaiden (even if the 3rd game suffered the "Blockbuster Syndrome", because despite the worst change offenders being limited continues and increased damage from pretty much everything that didn't do 3HP damage in the JPN version, being able to overcome the obstacles is a bigger joy this time due to that restriction... something that SNES Trilogy made the change back to the NES JPN balances, making the game more fair and chill for players to enjoy at their own pace thanks to the Password system that allows us to take breaks with the ability to return on the stage we left off like the original JPN version... funny enough, Ninja Gaiden 3 is the true sequel of the 1st game and NG2 is in reality the sequel to Ninja Gaiden 3... as in the JPN version of NG3 when you leave the game at the "The End" screen for like 20 minutes... the game changes the copyright text into the "To be Continued... Ninja Gaiden II" message, of course, with the JPN name of the game... that text also exists in the USA release but unless you use a specific game genie code, the message is unused, probably because they didn't want players to get confused outside japan, but I believe some players knew better back then despite that, and heck, before I knew about that message, my friend and I put the bits together and we concluded that it was not the final NES game storywise, and like 2 years ago we found that we did our homework right as we found that to be continued message when we messed around with both USA and JPN NES versions).

The Genesis version of MK2 is much more generous with continues than the SNES. Also, the Genesis is easier. I can at least win like 5 or 6 battles before my first continue. Meanwhile on the SNES, I can't even get past the first fight!

This game is another hidden banger, I got amazed how great this is back around 2000 when I played it for the first time, as you said, this game is worth our time to play it, some other famous youtubers of FGC members have played it too like Justin Wong. Yeah, Epyon is a pain in the gut to deal with, but don't let that Gundam intimidate you from playing this hidden gem, and using a different patch, you can have fun with the boss under your control.
@PikangsFutaba

Wow... I almost forgot that Irate Gamer is also a thing (well, back then was more active with those ranting reviews... again, just like AVGN was overexaggerated to have fun, as pretty much anyone knows Castlevania games overall are good, sure, they may have those slips like with the two versions of Castlevania on N64 (those are considered bad, I just feel that they might not have the same "Omph" like the others, but are far from being bad) but even so, I can't say those weak games are bad when we can see even worse games... usually coming from the unlincensed ones from the 90's especially), yup, Akumajou Dracula (as is the name of this Castlevania game in Japan) is tough, but not as frustrating as anyone would think, as it has that feel that you can figure out the best strategies to deal with the stages obstacles and bosses without having to learn hard tricks or what Dracula's Curse did... figuring out cheap strategies like how you can deal with ONE specific boss assuming you have Trevor and another optional character for example. I played this game for the first time around the 2000 and it was a great experience... with all the frustrations and joys of managing to outsmart the game's obstacles (however in terms of Castlevania, my joy of beating SNES Dracula X and the two versions of N64 surprass the NES games joys due to allowing me to do a bullying payback to my siblings as... just like Bayou Billy or Zelda 2, they failed big time, heck, with Castlevania 64 they got soft-locked and never figured out during the delivering of a bomb that they had to take ANOTHER route to get the bomb so they could deliver it to the place where you fight the Behemoth, and for Dracula X... they got stuck with the worst ending route at stage 5, they never figured out how to deal with the werewolf, and in my case not only I was able to swiftly deal with the werewolf, but in subsequent runs I was able to get the best ending, not to mention that my bros were only watching me and they felt their blood boil watching me countless times dying against Dracula in the cheap way of just getting thrown to the bothomless pit over and over, yup, they got frustrated despite of not playing at that time, but that only meant a good motivation to make a mockery of them by keep trying until I won... heck I even made fun of my own fails during that fight and got fun figuring out that one particular mechanic of that game can be used in your favor as long as you have enough HP for it... and that's to tank a hit while crouching to have no damage knockback so you don't get thrown to the pit). Edt: I still fell that it was crazy (but great) that in Smash Bros. Ultimate they added Dracula as a boss to deal with.. with his two forms... based on his Rondo of Blood incarnation, but said incarnation is pretty much a reference to this original Castlevania incarnation so.... they really nailed it, not to mention that they gave him a few new tricks or remixed some he had on previous games like Dracula's Curse flame pillars for example.

I had no idea that a TaleSpin game existed on the NES... at least until the Disney Afternoon Collection (which baffles me that due to the ill fated WiiU, Nintendo missed said collection... ESPECIALLY when ALL games of said collection are NES games), Collection rant aside, I got surprised that I got a lot of fun beating this hidden gem, especially while neglecting to use emulation shenanigans that the Collection offers to players (as on all platforms that the Collection made it's release, there's an achievement/trophy for beating each game in it's pure old school style... meaning no save states, no rewind or that kind of emulation shenanigans).

I didn't know either until I saw Derek Alexander/Stop Skeletons From Fighting. He thought it was garbage but I didn't think it was bad. I enjoyed it for how it works. I liked it better than the Sega Genesis version. I was gonna get the Disney Afternoon Collection digitally but I decided not to. I was happy with my NES Disney games I own in my collection.

@@Matt-Rat Yeah, in my case I had to get it as back then, my siblings traded most of those gems for not so great or pure garbage games... or due to desperate situations selling them for quick buck, but I'm glad I did as I discovered TaleSpin for NES while also remembering the other games... oh, and also Chip and Dale 2.
@PikangsFutaba

The games you mention being harder than Hagane, overall I agree, after all, these games has a fair share of trial and error, but some games (like Battletoads) really need a lot of practice compared to others to be beatable to some extent, not to mention that probably you end up finding your own exploits to these games (like how I do it with Bayou Billy to decrease the odds of having the enemy hitting me after they take a hit by a large scale... and it took me learning how much the attack animations of Billy last so I could time the hit when the attack animation is ending when the enemy aproaches me so they take a cheap hit instead). Sure, for me some of those other games you mention might not qualify as hard for me (like Return of the Jedi... a game that from time to time I pretend is the original Super Star Wars and do a full run pretending that I don't have the luxury of the Passwords as how said game was) but I can't deny that it's hard and it's place on the hardest SNES games is deserved. As for Hagane itself... I REALLY should give this game a try, not to mention that I'm planning to revisit some games that I played in the past that I liked it but are kinda obscure... like Twisted Tales of Spike Mc.Fang for example.

@Matt-Rat 24 дня назад
@@PikangsFutaba I agree about Super Return of the Jedi not being the hardest but I still remember going through the Death Star with the Millennium Falcon. So brutal! I hope you like Hagane. I call it one of my 30 favorite SNES games of all time.

Is kinda hard to get the best ending, at least you got a good ending in this run, the thing is that you pretty much have to play all mini-games smoothly to get a lot of money while avoiding to get in the roulette the mouse trap to not have a premature run end (I can't remember how much money you need to get for the best ending)... by the way, for whatever reason, this game got re-released on the Ps1 and GBA years ago. Edit: My experience with the game is the same, thanks to our favorite Angry Nerd review (quick) on the game I gave it a go... even if I never saw them, I thought the game wasn't THAT bad as the Nerd would attempt to put it (well, to be honest, the main reason for how exaggerated the rants are is due to the character, not necessarily the game must be bad... but he had tackled genuine bad games like the garbage of Action 52 on NES).
@Matt-Rat
@Matt-Rat 24 дня назад
I did my best to get a decent ending. I figured out the pie throwing game doubles your money if you throw every pie. Which helps a ton. It's true about the Nerd that he exaggerates some games. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I beat it with a bad ending but I didn't think it was that horrible. It's frustrating yet I cannot call it bad. I found some highlights. Action 52 deserved all the hate it gets.

Doesn't need to be a perfect run to be enjoyable, I believe some viewers can appreciate the struggle we have with the games as it shows a different perspective on how we slowly managed to overcome those hardships, this game is really great overall. Heck, I can't wait to see later on the line how you managed to overcome some other games you have played (just like how you did it with The Adventures of Bayou Billy, great ideas with the game... but overshadowed by it's unbalanced difficulty).

@PikangsFutaba

For me... I like it, sure, it's big flaw is the difficulty, but it got sunk with the "Blockbuster Syndrome" as some games (Ninja Gaiden 3 and to some extent Castlevania Dracula's Curse are victims of that "syndrome" just to name 2 examples) got modified to be harder in an attempt to force players to get the game as they potentially wouldn't be able to beat it by only renting it, in my case why I like it? simple, when back in the day you got bullied by your siblings and cousins (and also not allowed to play the games) while ALSO watching them fail big time... being able to beat it somewhat easily was a big way to get payback for those moments of getting bullied, heck, I remember back then they failed with Zelda 2 too, but I didn't really get a chance to play it until 2000 and oh boy... they just couldn't believe that I managed to beat it without breaking much of a sweat (again, it wasn't easy as I died a lot, but the fact that the game didn't really frustrated me like how my brothers and cousins did played in my favor... and also the bulliyng I had to endure back then), heck, one of my friends just got a reaction of "why in the world of *censored* are you playing this piece of *censored*" but after he saw how I was making progress... he just got suddenly excited to see how it ended and I delivered (especially as I showed sort of speaking... "mastery" of how to deal with the wonky enemy random knockbacks when you deal damage to them in the beat'em up stages allowing me to avoid taking cheap damage), I wonder if you have played Street Fighter 2010... what do you think about it? Oh and also nice to see you managed to win against this game, struggles and all uncut from the video, I'm sure that your first time beating it must be a great memory especially if you had been struggling with it for so long (in my case one of those games that entered that treatment was TMNT1... you know... the one with THAT water level).
