Welcome to The Stamp Box. I will be presenting short videos about stamps, collecting, and postal history. #philately #stamps #collecting #post #history This is my fist foray in to video editing, so I would love to hear any comments and feedback. All photos are either my own work or are public domain on Wikimedia Commons.
The photos and videos are taken on a Samsung Galaxy A52 and edited on a Macbook using iMovie software.
Early Irish stamps are confusing with the different sized overprints plus I am partially color deficient so trying to tell the difference between the black and the blue black overptints is impossible for me.
I have been trying to collect a complete Azad Hind collection for a long time. Of the 20 stamps that I know of (Perf and Imperf) I am still missing 6 Perf and 3 Imperf.
New to your channel. Iike the Belgian precancel stamps. I collect them. I always loved giraffe stamps when I was a kid. I believe your 6 Anna overprint at 18:33 is Oman.
Very nice haul. i also collect Churchill stamps. I have about 300 items including picture post cards of his residences,Sandhurst and FDC with nice cachets.
I have compiled a comprehensive list of Churchill and Churchill related stamps up to 2014, would you like a copy. If so send me you email address and I will gladly forward it to you.
I just discovered your channel. Love it already! I'm always looking for historically informative philatelic videos. Well done! Thank you for sharing your knowledge:)
Interesting. Most of my old Belgian stamps are what I picked up as a child. I haven't really gone through them, but will look in to them at some time and try and get some idea of what I have. Thanks for the tip off.
Thank you for this interesting video. I knew about the British Empire Exhibition commemorative stamps, but still learn bits from your video. I like the design of these stamps.
This was a nice format and an interesting take. Almost wished you put a little bit more info in there but that might be just me ^^. I'm a sponge for weird.
Thanks for your comment. I'm trying to keep the videos short, about three minutes, so there's that limit. I also had trouble finding public domain images of the aircraft. But it's fun and I'm getting the hang of it.
Very interesting choice of stamps. I hope your new channel does well. (I’m watching from London. This is the 2nd vid, the Lundy stamp video first having appeared mysteriously from my YT feed. The algorithm selects from my habits but I’ve never sought out philately in 10 years as a subject, although I was a philumenist in Melbourne in 1965 at 9 years of age!)
As a 9 yr old on a family holiday in Weston Super Mare, in 1951, we were walking through some woods nearby, at Uphill. We could hear a very loud throbbing engine noise above. Eventually the immage of a very large silver plane emerged through the tree-top gaps, travelling very slowly, estimately, about 12 thousand feet up. I immediately recognised it as the Brabazon.
Thanks for the interesting video. I smiled at the puffin currency. Maybe they pictured the plane on the stamps because it is quite unique looking and attractive in a way. 🙂
Thanks. I was born and raised in Australia, but spent about 25 years in Killarney. My dad was from there, and also my wife. Great place. We are back in Brisbane now.
25 years is a considerable period of time. I lived and worked in Manly for a few years and miss the weather and climate terribly. As you know, it only rains twice a week in Ireland, once for 3 days and then the second time for 4 days. One summer, my girlfriend and I drove from Darwin to Brisbane and then back home to NSW. …oh to be young once again. lol
Nice editing and a lot of information. Really interesting to learn about Irish stamps, something I don't know much about! Ireland does feel like a country which one is able to complete, right?
Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked the video. Yes, Ireland is a reasonable target for anyone wanting a complete collection. I tend to limit myself to stamps up till the late 70s or so.
Great video! Interesting and informative. I enjoyed watching it. Loved the classic airmail stamps. It is the first time I see an angels on airmail stamps. Thanks for the video!
