It has been a year now. 😊 Did you ever get your hands on one of those wrap dress patterns that you wanted to make in the first place? 😊😊 This would be your friendly reminder to change your needle for a new one and clean the lint out of the machine. ❤

So idk if this will help, but that aged yellowing, in my experience, disappears with oxyclean. Once I even bought some lace that I thought was ecru because it was so evenly discolored. But I did notice slight variations. So I put it in oxyclean and in like one minute it was sparkling white. Like. Nuts!

Dear Stephanie, just to help you with your identifications, the brown, near black one stitched on both sides , is fringe. The double stitching on the bottom is meant to hold the fringe down during shipping and stitching onto the dress. When you're done you take off the stitching to free the fringe. I hope that helps!

Just to got through them and look is an absolute pleasure, a trip through time back to my childhood and Mother's chest-of-drawers filled with patterns from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's. She ran out of drawers and started putting the "newer" patterns in another place.

Right in time! Listed 70 item on eBay. Then debating posh but feels like Mary Kay party. Marcari seems lonely. Etsy scares me bc everyone says they’ve been kicked off. . Staying with just ebay.

I found your channel through Charlie and The Stitchery - and this first video of yours I’ve ever watched got the immediate subscribe button hit. I sew BECAUSE my body doesn’t fit store bought clothes very well. I haven’t been able to buy jeans in 10ish years. So for that teacher to do and say those things? It might have made me walk away from the craft for quite a while. Thank you for calling out the behavior. And thank you for being open and honest with us. Now I’m off to watch more videos and remember that I do belong in this community at my lovely variance from ‘normal’ if there is such a thing as normal.

Sewing Patterns Rock. I so loved this story, I wished I was with you right there. Here we dont have those kind of sales. When I have luck I can find a garagesale or a vintage market, but never found something to my liking. And the thriftstores here...never saw something really old, only some books. But just storiebooks or some sewingbooks from the nineties. Hopefully I will find the next time something awesome like you did.

I love all the dresses you wear in this video. I would love to try a thirties or fourties pattern because every experience of using modern patterns (since I was in home-ec class in the 80's was similar to this; A lot of wasted fabric both in the cutting layout and then making it fit because it is way oversize.

First of all…SAUCY! Next, maybe it’s the fact that I haven’t eaten and am getting goofy (I get slap happy hungry). Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve been up for 28 hours. Maybe it’s the emotional roller coaster of helping my sister plan her ex’s funeral on behalf of their kids. I really liked the straight jacket pattern. I get that it was for a jacket that is straight lined, but in my “state”, I heard straight jacket and thought of that kind of straight jacket. Choked and spat sweet tea all over the bed linens.

So a fun little history fact is that after WWII some of the big “stars” of the day were the soldiers returning home, especially pilots. The first Ray-Ban aviators were created for our pilots flying in the European front, the shape is designed to fit around their oxygen masks. When they returned home everyone started wanting to wear sunglasses which is why they were probably starting to be drawn on the line art of some of these patterns. Can’t wait to see the meme you create with that one drawing though, it’s pretty funny just by itself. Only getting around to watching this today due to work and out shopping at peddlers malls, sometimes I get good scores there! Lots of lovely vintage linen tablecloths and occasionally vintage patterns too! Maybe I’ll get lucky and add some new ones to my collection if anything I like from this box in still in stock, knowing my luck though probably not. I’ll grab screenshots to add to my list of ones to look out for on my thrifting journeys.

Hi Stephanie. I'm curious about something and thought I'd ask, although I'm sure it's not a common question for you. Is the speech pattern you use often in your videos (e.g. when your video starts here and you add "until today...") something you do in your everyday speech or is it part of the speech patterns you have adopted as a RU-vid presenter?

Someone please enlighten me... I'm from Germany, so I am living in a totally different sizing system. Aren't these sizes veeeery small? Wouldn't a 30 or 32 bust be like an xxs and a 34 to 36 an xs/s and 38 would be an s/m size? Or am I totally wrong about that because it's bust size and not hip size? 😅 The confusion is confused. 😅😅 I'd really like a chart on screen : Size 12 bust 30 = an s to m ?? 😅😅
@StephanieCanada
@StephanieCanada 3 дня назад
Hi there! Yes, a bust 30-32 would be (on average) an XS. However, the bust 38-40 would be about an XL or 12-14. But, since we are dealing with sewing patterns I will never estimate to modern size charts as there is no “official” size guide. Every single brand does their own thing. I prefer to deal in the facts, and bust sizes are facts, or basically numbers, that can’t be changed or adjusted on a whim. This way I am providing the most concrete information possible.
@AniRSm
@AniRSm 3 дня назад
@@StephanieCanada Thanks! That is actually very clever to tell the sizing like that. ☺️🤝🏻 Thank you for the explanation. I'm kinda sad that patterns aren't more size inclusive. There must have always been big girls, I can't believe there hasn't. So it would only make sense to sell them for bigger busts, too. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔

I'm a shortie with narrow shoulders and big bust. Is it better to go by the high bust measurement and do a full bust adjustment or go by the mid-bust measurement? TIA

My mother made that same caftan in (I think) 1967 or 1968. She was a very plus sized woman and short, so even the shorter version had to be shortened, LOL. By the way I really liked the zipper you used.
