the reason its so caotic is cuss they where trying to show the fealing of whats going on in ones head when they fall in love, and the police is the side of you that trys to figur out whats happening in you. its pretty creativ actually
the first 6min were effectively what casey wrote for capcom and their demands. the last third however, is a pure love letter to the character virgil from casey as he felt that the first part didnt portray virgil's character fully. you can really feel victor borba putting his soul into that last chorus, it sounds like there is an additional layer of emotion stacked onto his voice. good thing to keep in mind while listening.

Heh, audiences being _really_ bad at clapping on the beat annoys me so much that I often can't enjoy the entire performance anymore... Tim Minchin (at least once) dealt with that issue in a really effective way - while playing the piano, he swiveled his "audience-side" leg out and stomped it hard on the beat, giving the audience a visual "help" to clap on the beat as well 😊
Sometimes, when I'm out in my garage looking for something specific, I'll go over to a bucket of mixed screws & hardware to dump it out onto the floor. I do this to avoid the satisfaction of walking in to exactly what I'm wanting, so that I can re-live watching reactors CONSTANTLY interrupting a beautiful ARTIST so that they can rumage thru the keyboard while mumbling to themselves...😊

I comment this every time I see someone discover Snarky Puppy for the first time, but as a producer you'll REALLY appreciate this. The crazy part about this is the live mixing and engineering. Not one, but TWO Avid 6SL 64-channel consoles being mixed, engineered, AND RECORDED in real time for both the final album as well as the mix both the audience AND the band are hearing. So not only do the submixes for the musicians have to be perfect, but the overall mix for the audience has to both sound good on a final CD as well as in their headphones in the moment. Playing it on my (admittedly pretty goddamn good) Kali IN-8s and JBL LSR308s with a WS6-2 sub and having every instrument, every element, every chord, every kick have its own sonic layer that doesn't get muddied up by the mix is a true feat of sonic engineering - especially with RU-vid compression. Oh, Larnell learned basically the entire goddamn album (including this song) on the flight over to the Netherlands because Sput wasn't available as a drummer due to visa issues, Cory went absolutely unconscious on keys doing the same thing with both hands SIMULTANEOUSLY - that means opposite fingerings for left and right hands, the guy losing his mind (RIP) was a four-time Grammy winner at the time of recording this album over a decade ago, and yes, basically half this album is straight up world-class improv. Gospel, funk, soul, rock, jazz, fusion, R&B, experimental, prog - these guys can play everything.
A few things- The baby is dimashes. The symbol from the necklaces is used in a few places. But, the salute by the soldiers, arm across the chest to the opposite arm, is the symbol shape, as well.
