When I die , if I get to meet god , the first thing I will do is thank him for letting me have two ddr working line shepherds , right after that I will go find them .
I have a Czech Line 18 month old GSD; he is awesome. He needs 2 X 1 hour walks per day plus ball throwing in the yard. He is my shadow an gives the most amazing love 24/7/365. He is so smart and intelligent, it's like having a best friend in the house who knows what you are thinking. He chill's out, he is relaxed a lot and has patience. He is very protective of the house, especially after dark - that is a good thing and I feel very safe with a 40kg GSD patrolling the house while my family is asleep. My main tip is the same one you mentioned - EXERCISE and TRAINING - these are not easy pet dogs but they are AWESOME. If you want the best dog in the world you have to get out and give him/ her their exercise. 100%. I also use frozen Kongs; and I interactive toys for feeding - GSD's need mental as well as physical exercise.
Totally agree I have a 15 month old Czech line German shepherd he’s by far the best dog I’ve ever owned super intelligent, they are truly wonderful dogs !
Bro I love the working line german shepherd but I have experience with only small dogs till now (11year old pomeranian and 6 year old shihtzu). Is is recommended as I am an introvert myself and don't like to walk with my dog everyday outside (as I don't do it myself). But my house is kindof big in a remote place and I need a dog for security who will be very intelligent (require least effort in training), have a calm yet aggresive temperment and would gladly give life if needed for my family's protection. So should I get the working line GSD and if I take a female will that be a better decission as I don't like them humping on me in during heat or something else.
I laughed when you said start being a morning person. It's true. My boy is 11 months old and that morning walk is crucial for chilling him out. Then the evening walk of course. I have never been a morning person but I am now!
I hope for the better. I love mine more than almost anything. I loved him so much I got a female puppy Western shepherd which I have wanted for four years. I had him fixed a couple years ago. That helps mellow him a notch but I wouldn't underestimate him in a challenge. He would win. All you have to do is l LOVE AND PLAY WITH THIS DOG. Your reward will exceed your own expectations because this dog is on another level intelligent wise. I have no distructive issues. He preferred to work outside protecting and watching. He will prefer to please me as far as obedience. I also know a responsible breeder. German Shepherd
Great, very informative. I have two German Shepherds male and female. Half brother half sister. Same father. Czechoslovakian East German working bloodlines. Handful but I love them. Like a full time job. The shedding is one big deal with brooms and vacuuming. I feed them boiled chicken morning and night and give them multivitamins each day. Which cost the same as human vitamins. Chicken flavored chewable. Plus milk bones which they LOVE. I own my own business so they come along on some of my jobs. My guys are black and tan. All black with tan legs and paws. Military police colors.
Beautiful pup!! My baby is a 7mth 83# LH dark sable with blonde ears 94% E DDR his parents were imported from Poland. Mans best friend doesnt even come close. We are attached to the hip like noone would understand unless you witnessed yourself. Be warned!!! When you bond with your "Twin" you will NEVER Ever be ALONE again, No Matter what your doing.. Make sure you and your family can handle that!
See my girl is sweet but my girl at night turns on ! Now the older she is getting older and she is getting way more protective! Now my girl is the same they are 3 before they are full grown ! I want my girl to be gentle and easy going but I idk these dogs have so much protection! The American German shepherd is different! Now my car broke down and she did a 360 man within months ! The problem is there insists and drive are so great ! Do you take him out around people every day ? I need to do this with her but I’m scared too also idk ! But I hav e a lot more work to put in then you have your boy already! I pray 🙏🏻 cause my dog is to not with me ! So idk she use to be like yours dog ! So hopefully i succeed myself ! How do you get him to do that ? But my girls solid black so but i know she is already on guard in a way ! But idk but how do you get him to focus only on you ? Now my girl wont leave my side ! But Odin is Perfect size ! Now he is beautiful and healthy! But not to heavy either
I’m sorry to message about my dog so much but I love her so much ! I believe I’ve found a decent trainer! I wanted to do it on my own but I feel like I’m just not enough for my type of dog ! Working lines are completely different the European breeds than the American breeds! She’s so smart and I’m very lucky in many ways anyone can so far she will let pet her so she is mentally a very stable girl but we still have a lot to learn again this is my first time owning a shepherd! Odin is so beautiful! You take great care of him ! I’m making these treats and it’s so true the additives they put in everything these days we eat ! This is what I’m using and making today instead of pricey frozen beef liver treats at a high cost ! Oh also the training i learned was 20 k for weeks worth of training and to me that’s just to much to expect idc how good you are with dogs wow that’s insane! I lost my respect when I seen how much they wanted! I’m hoping to make my girl a companion dog cause she definitely needs a job ! Anyways good bless ! I love the olive oil as that’s so good in so many ways for health ! Okay ty and God Bless you Odin and your precious family! Bye
I have a beautiful Czech girl and my girl gave her to me at 7 weeks ! I have never owned a German shepherd dog ! She knows the basics but not place or stay ! I know realize that i should have been doing this ! She knows sit and lay and everything like that but she is mentally bored and needs a job ! A lot has happened and I’ve failed my baby so bad ! Now I’m looking at help with cost me thousands and i simply don’t have it ! She is going to be a year and I am scared for her future as I need to take her everywhere with me and now she barks at cars when we drive ! My car broke down and long story short I have to do something now ! I bought a 400$ collar and well that one time using made her jump and pace ! So I am scared to use that and I was trying to use it each time I gave her treats and to sit paw down ect but idk then now I have a Herm Sprenger and I wanted the 2.25 or the new 2.25 shorty but the store said no she has a double coat to get the 3.0 but I feel like it’s too much for her but I am stuck where I’m scared to take her out cause her drive is high when she sees rabbits and stuff but her nature at this point is still very gentle for now but idk what to do ! These treats I’m gonna make cause idk what to give her cause you hear dogs dropping dead and then some like liver treats are expensive! Ty for this video! Odin is precious and a very smart good boy ! Is he social and is he good on walks and does he show protection! My girl is so I am trying to train myself but I’m failing! I see so many shepherds being put down! I can’t let this happen to my baby ! But I worry if I don’t find a decent paid trainer that’s not thousands to help me ! Plus I wished I knew in Kentucky where there was a good trainer that is truly not going to cause my baby harm cause these dogs are easy to ruin also I’ve seen too so idk !
We had an abandoned shepherd here in our nighborhood 4 weeks ago and it stayed at my neighbor's house. He was looking for a home for him so my husband and i walked over there. We think she was abandoned and abused. Shes about 8 months and in heat. She has completely changed and consumed my life. I had no idea how much work it was going to take care of this dog and train her. I do a lot of what you described. I have had a lot of frustrating days with her but some amazing days with her too. She is stubborn and does not want to do what I tell her to which frustrates me.ninhave trained an Akita and a rotweiler/shepherd mix and my girl is smart.....too smart. I had to get me some training tools that wpuld help me to be successful with her because she is getting big and strong. Im a small woman and I amm 55yrs old. She is kicking my butt but I love her so much and enjoy being with her when she is not in heat of course. Shenis so moody right now. Thanks for sharing.
I rescued a GSD last summer. He was already 4 months old. My husband said he wanted one. Although I’m the one at home, who has to do everything w the dog and kids. Omg….it changed my life also. I realized very quickly what I actually had on on my hands. I have been relentlessly training him. He is so amazing now. He’s been the biggest challenge of my life, and the most rewarding. And since I’m the one who does all the work. Literally all the work. I train him. I play w him. I feed him all his food, snacks and treats or bones. I do brain games w him. And I take him on all his walks. I groom him. I love him. So naturally, the dog loves me most. lol. 😂. Sorry guys, you snooze you loose! 🐕. He’s the best companion now. He goes w me everywhere 😊
I think you are missing an important point. A good working line GSD is not naturaly agressive, they are very confident in their strenght so they are calm around people or other dogs unless provoked. They are also very good at identifying threats so they are not naturaly aggresive to any random stranger but they can easily identify someone with a suspicious attitude and become more alert and ready to attack if needed. Also they are fearless and won't hesitate to protect you. If you have a somewhat active lifestyle and you involve them in your activities they are a joy to have and way easier and more intuitive than people think
Most of the things i would disagree. I had a showline GSD. Exactly the same traits as what you are describing with working line GSD. So no, you only think that what you are saying or assumed is limited to working line GSD but its not in reality.
I got a gremen shepherd sometimes i really reqert it the shedding the grooming the vet bills its not his fault but i had him for 5 yrs now and planning too keep him because of the bond we have toward each other the sad part will be saying goodbyes at the end of his life he follows me everywere
Great video. I was lucky enough to adopt a female GSD about three weeks ago as a stray from a guy living in an apartment nearby. And in short like yourself, it's been a life changer. I have gone from being virtually sedentary to being more physically active than I have been in decades !! I absolutely adore this dog. I found out that she is actually a pure bred GSD complete with registered parents etc. I was floored when, pulling up to the location where she was adopted, Charlotte ran up to me and cuddled against me as if we had known each other for years! I had been adopted, I was told by my girlfriend. And now new to the world of GSD's, I am on an incredible learning curve and I am very glad to be on it.
Had a German Shepherd. She was full of energy and go go go....walks would not tire her out. I had to get a bike, and she would run by my side while i biked. She learnt the commands slow down, stop, left and right while i rode the bike. Her favourite activity was going to the beach or park and chasing the birds around. She was the last dog in her litter, and the breeders had called her "little running dog". We got her a few months after my wife and I wedding. She was our baby before we had kids lol..She loved camping, hiking, running, fetch, chasing birds, Playing in the backyard with our kids, and guarding our house..about 2 months before her 11th birthday, i took her for a walk and only managed about 100m as she just turned around to come home. She had never wanted to return home from a walk. We knew something was wrong. She had no energy, could not keep any food down, and lost her appetite. She just wanted to rest by our side. Unfortunately, things went downhill pretty quick from there. We made the tough decision to put her down about 1 month before her 11th birthday. Was a sad day for our family. But we will be forever grateful for the memories and having Ava in our lives. ❤
