Lovely to hear all those positive remarks because Ihave a Cox's Orange Pippin' in my backyard. My Granny Smith tree did not survive so my tree has never borne fruit. I have been weeding around it & I recently planted a Golden Delicious near it so I hope I will have fruit in the future. Thank you for your informative video.

I don't have any south windows so I'd need a grow-light. Growing outdoors in zone 9b was not successful at all for me, though there were record freezes here.

I added a Regent Saskatoon serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifloria) to my backyard food forest this week after a visit to a northern Minnesota nursery. I'm in zone 5a. I also have several A. laevis planted last year.

I live in Louisiana and when my parents bought a house there were 2 pear trees in the back yard . They were about 5’6” tall with long bushy limbs growing out. One was a canning pear and the other was a eating pear. These pears were so large about the size of a large soft ball and we had to take 2 X 4 boards and cut a V notch in the end of them to prop up the limbs due to them being about to break . Those pears were so juicy and sweet in there own category. Was this just a fluke for these trees growing such large fruit year after year or is there a category of pears that grow this large?

Thanks for the video. I would like to ask you some questions. The first: It seems that you are growing the Hass variety. Do you grow it alone? Or do you grow another variety with it? So that there is a feminine and a masculine? If so, what is the appropriate male variety to plant with the Hass variety? What is the appropriate number of trees of the male variety to plant for 10 trees of the female variety? If there is an optimal planting combination, please tell me it? Thank you very much.

I have a whole row of wee whites 10-15 plants that were planted as a foundation hedge in the front row due to their supposed small size. They are now over 5 feet tall and dwarf in height the 3-4 feet foundation hedges that were planted behind them. So, they will have to be moved somewhere else. A lot of these dwarf hybrids don’t seem to stay the size advertised.

I see zone 9 mentioned as being suitable to grow all of those pears. I live at the margin of zone 8b-9a and many winters I do not get 500 chill hours. None of the pears you list have I ever seen recommended for coastal northwest Florida.

Can I plant a show off forsythia in container and prune to maintain?
@Naturehills
@Naturehills 2 месяца назад
Hi there, the short answer is absolutely. You can grow Show Off in a container as long as it's a large enough container and there are holes in the bottom to allow for adequate drainage. You'll want to take special care to water well and as needed throughout the season. Show Off gets to be fairly large at 5 feet tall and wide so pruning may become difficult. I suggest looking at Show Off Sugar Baby if you'd like to keep it smaller as it'll only grow 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet tall and wide. Learn more about it here: www.naturehills.com/forsythia-show-off-sugar-baby Happy planting:) - Whit
