She’s probably the most well-known of the rose types and she’s probably graced a bouquet you’ve received. She’s also the rose type you’ve been warned from trying because “oh those are too hard to grow and they get diseases.” (I’m air quoting if you can’t tell…) Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s Whit with NatureHills.com here today to talk about Hybrid Tea Roses and which you should absolutely add to your garden - because - no they really aren’t that scary as long as you know the basics.
They love full sun, well-drained soils, and good rich well-drained soil with a 3-4 inch layer of mulch. Keep the foliage dry by choosing a location with morning sun access, and in an area with good air circulation. Like other roses, you’ll get more blooms throughout the season if you prune off the spent flowers. In climates zone 7 and colder, you can ovewinter Hybrid Teas very successfully with a hefty mound of mulch piled over unpruned canes in late fall. Trim back in spring. We have a ton of info on that over on our #ProPlantTip blog that I’ll link to down in the description.

I really like that you get extra colors with the double delight, and I'm curious about a 'spicy' rose!
