I really thought I’d see what it looked like in the beginning and then fast forward to see the end result. Nope I watched the entire thing. What skills this person has. Just amazing. And then the photography and editing were just as skilled. Well done!
As someone who's about to take on a 1900-1910 Remington 12 gauge as a repair!! I figured I'd jump on and see what everyone else does. My question is, why do you all call this restored?? 🤔 when it's, in fact, repaired... Restored means it's been returned to its original condition... Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they used migs to weld these from factory 140 years ago 😂 He's done an absolutely amazing job considering what he started with! But the second I saw the thumbnail, I knew this wasn't going to be a true restoration as there wasn't enough gun to start with 😂
If you're the same guy I've commented on several times now that's from italy. I hate to burst your bubble but the boxer rebellion was the oldest battle in italian history involving Americans. And that happened from 1899 to 1901 in China. After that was World war 1 which was from 1914 to 1918 so at the most this pistol could be 106 years old. Americans only participated in battles in Italy in 1918 which was the end of the war. Either way this isn't a restoration it's a ruination of a historical artifact. Theres maybe 5% of the original piece left after all that. Im not denying your skill. Im denying your claim of it being in the dirt for 140 years. If you were gonna do this to it you shouldve left it in the dirt. But I'd argue it's much more likely that its even younger than that becaus its more likely to have come from world war 2.
Id love to have found that...not only would i have restored it but also i woulda made a new one piece by piece from stainless.ive done this with every gun i own...of course none were in this bad of shape but most were gun show purchases and then i made fully functional replicas.so far ive made a few but i keep losing them
Too much hacking and grinding. Should’ve taken better care of it. More sand and solution. Less abrasives. But that being said, still, good job. Really.
