I’d never expect to hear it called “hard” Are all platinum groups like that? I remember osmium or iridium (idk if they’re even p group) were hard and brittle
What a fantastic box of tools, im so envious! I love a good bix of another makers stuff, i bought a wooden box with drawers for my partner and was full of watchmakers tools. Hes a watch collector and loves to tinker with them, he would love to make his own watch so has come in handy plus some if the tools were universal in jewellery so was a bonus for me! The pointed tool looks like a center punch for making a dent for ore drilling, the round tool looks like a sheet gauge, tells you the thickness of sheet metal, the ball tools are tiny! They go with your dapping block.
The rounded caliper tool is used for comparing widths and depths say like in bowl turning, I'm sure you can measure symmetry in your work with it. You can never have too many files!
