This channel is about making beats, sampling, synthesizers and my two favourite music production platforms: Ableton Live (with Push 2) and the Native Instruments Maschine MK3 from the perspective of soulful hip-hop/funk/beats/electronic.
They made a portable push, in the vein of those gameboy-like trackers like the Dirtywave M8 or the Polyend Tracker. This will be fun, although the price won't be fun
@@milk_bath Push is great, but I'm talking about the standard keyboard form factor for pianists... maybe something like NI Kontrol keyboard but with added sliders, xy pad (preferably in an adaptive touchscreen with multi functionality) and perhaps drum pads but the last one is not essential since Push can do that
@@corneliousism Yeah I know about them, but my only concern is the build quality. I think Ableton could make the ultimate keyboard for Live, I would pay up for quality. But still curious what the next Novation SL will be like, hopefully it will drop the by end of this year or sometime next year.
Little workaround tip for my fellow MK2 Komplete Keyboard users: Just put an empty instance of Komplete Kontrol on a track, activate the Scale Mode, route the Midi to another VST Instrument Track and voila.. you have your Scale Mode for all non NKS Instruments. Not so much extra effort and cheaper than buying a new keyboard :D
My guess is that the move will have some sort of pixel interface that displays "Move" name is a pixelated way only. Im betting it is going to be something like the Erae Touch. Sinillar to how the expressive e touche is a conpanion device i will expect the move to be similar in nature but probably also be fully capable of operating standalone as well.
Push’s main weakness is the lack of an arranger, so a part of me hopes that Move is a complementary product that unlocks song mode. Given the name, it’s not too likely though.
Yeah, I feel that any sort of complimentary product like what I mentioned with the faders will miss the mark. Ableton make very few products, so it needs to be something that makes a big splash to get people excited and move units like a portable groovebox/sampler.
Agreed, pretty much my entire workflow is in arrangement view so the Push devices in general never really seemed all that great for the type of stuff I do.
Great recap of these topics! Love that you went right to the move and the patent filing. Bit of advice though -> drink some apple juice/honey tea/lemon water or something before recording. It helps with the mouth sounds. You have a great mic and your audience has great ears, so we can really hear every detail if you know what I mean. Sub from me, see you soon brother!
Pixelated fonts means that’s gonna be a good product for sure 😂 let’s see if they’re gonna get me excited again cause push 3 was a real miss from them 😅
If Ableton nails this and it's s push go with touch screen, elite connectivity, and the ability to upgrade ram, I'd easily pay upwards of 2000 dollars. I'm sick of incremental improvements to machines that remain behind the curve.
Looking at the logic of its tab position on website, it’s situated between push and note. It’s highly unlikely to be hardware as the push standalone was only just released with upgrades in mind, i think the pixelation may just be a reference to the fact it’s based around a display, so it could be a companion tablet or phone app that dramatically improves push workflow in standalone, making moving of parameters and audio clips much easier in and arrangement mode kind of way, it would also just make all the things a mouse can do easily on a. Computer available for the push, so basically moving things, saving the tedium of constant button pushing, however a combination of these thing s would mean a maximised workflow making it the best portable workstation. It would be very easy to add a solid stand for the tablet which fits around the body of the push. That’s my dream anyway haha
Sounds like a series of compact portable instruments/effects/controllers, somewhere in size between Pocket Operators and SP-404, that can be used standalone like Note, but also integrate into Live with ease.
Before the Push 3 was out and before I ended up buying the MPC Live 2, I was actually wishing for an "Ableton Push Go": A standalone but portable Ableton device. And I suspect that this is what Ableton Move might turn out to be. Because the market for standalone portable formfactor audio tools has really exploded in recent years. So if this turns out to be a TE Knockout 2-sized device that runs a limited, special version of Ableton Live that can do a lot more than Ableton Note, then I wouldn't be surprised.
I would say it's already there, but that's just a small part of the functionality. And you can still buy the packs, it's not subcription-only like Arcade.
Thank you! Yeah, it's the Kontrol MK3, but I wouldn't say it goes with Maschine that well. It works as a basic keyboard but the MK2 version had better Maschine integration. It's a great keyboard for Kontakt though.
Can you elaborate? Did something you already have stopped working and forced you to update? For example the last supported Mac OS for Kontakt 6 is Monterey which sucks but that's a Mac-only problem. Everything seems to work fine on Windows 11.
You will probably have to load the presets through Komplete Kontrol to have the MK2 integrate with Kontakt 8 but it should work. Only the MK3 keyboards have direct communication with Kontakt.
Great video, Low Heat! When you succeeded to make this fire beat is mystery for me - but the beat is the bomb ! 🔥💣🙂 Great review and very cool update indeed. Today I've got it /using the link of course :)/ and can't wait to play myself with the new Komplete! Cheers, Low Heat, Keep it up! 😎🌵☀
loving the bass guitar addition, any tips for getting a good bass guitar groove going ? i am not guitar or keyboard player btw, sometimes i live jam on maschine jam strips to get basslines but always looking for more realistic basslines patterns etc . great video .
Thank you! I think a more percussive way to jam bass lines would be better - like on the pads instead of touch strips. You have to think like a drummer and make the bass rhythmic in a way that compliments the drums. This is the approach of funk music. I know, easier said than done. But honestly, I've just been messing on the keys for many many years and know a bit of music theory.
good video, I love recording my music live aswell as a just get stuck and annoyed by manually planing it out, but by recording it live, either in the session view or just by having the loop extended to like 10 minutes I can trigger the individual tracks by assigning them to a key (cmd + K) and then I can jam as long as I want. Helps me to get really good intuitive results while having fun and this shit is quick. Takes like 10 minuets to get the first initial arrangement and then you fine-tune it. the cool thing is you can also assign a High Pass to your kick or bass with that so you can jam live and then fix the automations / quantize them :)
For sure! Not having to worry about the length of your loop and just jam as long as you want is definitely one of the strong points of Sessions View. Glad you liked the vid.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! The full track is in the description of the video, it’s called “The Cooldown” if you wanna check it out on the streaming platforms.
Aaahh, good to know about the undo, thanks. I know that it's iPhone only but iPhone apps usually work on iPads, right? On my iPad it says it will work on it, I just haven't updated to iOS 17 to try it.
