I worked on the mighty VC10 in the 70's when it was still in its PROPER colours of white over grey. Best aircraft ever built IMHO! They should still be using this design in todays modern aircraft! Rear engine clean wing by far the best configuration and so quiet! Mind you when they ripped out all the insulation and sound proofing to make them into tankers it lost that! RIP VC10. for all of you watching this make sure you are across the latest service bulletin for these props. They have a propensity for spitting the dummy and the manufacturer has a workaround with different washer and nut. Critical issue - find the service bulletin
I didn't know there was a Navigators station on the RAF VC-10s. I flew jumpseat on the airliner versions a few times and they had Dual DELCO INS systems. Interesting !!!
Nice job from the diver but a very long and difficult job underwater, also unsafe with the lack of glue and split pin. It will need to be reinstalled on the dry to avoid losing another prop
Thanks EWOL. It was a quick fix to get the yacht back to its home port in Hobart, so a matter of a day sail. The yacht was then slipped and the prop removed and refitted dry with loctite. From memory there was no hole for a split pin, not sure if one was drilled when slipped. The dive job was well planned with each component bagged and in order with a thorough understanding of the instructions prior to entering the water. It took less than an hour to complete the work.

Hi Chris, thanks for your comment. All components were brass for corrosion purposes so not magnetic. There are probably better ways, but the old beach umbrella that I had in the shed did the job for me.

I have no idea where you are from and it doesn't mattter,but where I am from talking to commercial fishermen or those in legislature does NO good,to much money under the table has been and always will be,until someone is elected that money means nothing too the fisheries are doomed for everyone especially the children growing up in the future,no one is threatening me because I will not put up with it nor do I fear it,but there are those that have been threatened and property damaged because of there viewsand fear speaking out. When nothing changes,when commercial fishermen get caught violating the law with hardly any consequences from the courts its tough to swallow and will not change anything by getting off.Its useless to continue any futher repore with you because I can tell you are a supporter of commercial fisheries and if not you appear to be,until ALL of the nets are out of the insde nursery areas and kept in the ocean where they should be there is no resource protection.
I still don't get how you intend to achieve such protection without dialogue with the industry and regulators. To protect a resource you ideally need to have the fishers themselves onboard. To achieve this it is prudent and sensible to ingratiate yourself into the industry to kick start the process. A house divided cannot stand. I take it you are an angler? If so, some inshore fisheries have declined substantially (to the detriment of the local commercial industry) as a result of angling in areas where boat ownership is high. For wealthy recreational boat owners who expect to fill their freezers and in their eyes own the entire resource for themselves while poorer people who cannot afford a boat are deprived of a healthy diet is quite frankly unfair and a situation that I am only too familiar with from my experience working within both commercial and recreational fisheries. Perhaps you dislike seeing fish die and/or discards (the latter is a big issue in some regions and fisheries)? Either way things are far from perfect in some fisheries while other regulators are doing a brilliant job of sustainable management. To achieve your quest to rid the globe of commercial fishermen is quite frankly ridiculous, but a more focused approach with the relevant stakeholders and having the scientific community onboard may help in at least protecting the nursery areas that you touch upon. Getting the right people together and finding the right forum to voice these concerns would help. I don't think you'll have any success without some factual scientific (rather than anecdotal visceral assumptions) backing and a spring board closer to your region that is not a RU-vid video about squid fishing off Argentina. Good luck, I mean that!
I have no desire to Converse with any of them or to any of the law makers who protect the, but I have seen what the do from the Hawaian Islands to Nova Scotia,all along the east coast to Florida and the Gulf,a commercial fisherman is the same everywhere you go,with the same mentality of it being a heritage and get mine while I can. Its obvious you are a supporter and I surely am not,if I could stop commercial fishing by not fishing or eating fish I would, I am dedicated to that goal and will not be bullied by threats or intimidation.
I am a supporter of sustainable fishing and I have a very clear, hands on, understanding of such fisheries and the history (good and bad) that goes with them. I find it somewhat confusing that you state that you have no desire to converse with the industry or regulators, yet profess to be dedicated to the goal to stop commercial fishing. How can you change things without dialogue and who is threatening or intimidating you?

+W Harris That is an ill informed and silly statement. While some unregulated fisheries are poorly managed, others are well managed and sustainable. Don't tar all fishers with the same brush.
That's man all over isn't it, they hunt the sea's for say tuna and when that species' is hunted to extinction they move onto the next species, it makes me wonder just how long it will be before the ocean's are desert's with no more aquatic life, I have watched the scientists and marine biologists since I was a kid, remember Jacque Cousteau from the 60's and 70's and other wildlife presenter's like David Attenborough who have warned us over the decade's what over fishing and hunting on land has done to our world's wildlife and of course man stripping away the tree's to destroy the rainforest's. But no one listens because they aren't interested, destroying habitat so that people can build and farm. No one will listens and perhaps in a hundred years from now when our beautiful living planet earth is nothing more than a husk when it will all be far to late, then and only then will they realise that their greed has destroyed themselves
