An ecological survey on the Purari River over three weeks in September-October 2012. The survey was one of many similar research trips undertaken as part of an environmental impact assessment for a proposed hydro-electric dam and power station.
This particular survey discovered two new species of fish (a rainbowfish and a sole) and numerous, yet to be described, species of prawns and macroinvertebrates.
