Stick with the La Casa Del Habanos locations and Habanos SA authorized retailers. You can find a list on their website. Everyone and their mother sells fakes down there so make sure he doesn’t buy from anywhere else no matter how convincing the story is. Get a lot of my “brother” “aunt” “cousin” etc works at the cohiba factory and steals them or gets a discount or weekly allowance - all bs.
If you are after the colour and texture alone, "cooking" time and temperature can vary. But if you are interested in its medicinal potency as well like doubling its antioxidant level to fight oxidative stresses and to boost your immune system, there is a recommended time, temperature and humidity which cannot be ignored.
Here in Asia ( where black garlic originates) resellers claim that the ageing time took them several weeks (3 to 4 weeks depending on the type used) at high temperature and 80 - 90 deg C. I use black garlic primarily to boost my immune system and I found it very effective.
I had about 5 of those in a month I enjoyed it so much. Probably a box worthy cigar for me. Great review. Never heard of the pencil shavings note. Gonna try and tune in for that haha see if I get it.
It tastes like pencil shavings smell if that makes sense. I haven’t actually tasted pencil shavings. Lol. JdN is one of my top 5 brands. Only thing from them I was meh about was the Joya Black.
Great review brother. I’m going to have to try this one. The high castle maduro is one of my favorites. As we’ve discussed I often times pass on Connecticut’s but you’ve re inspired me haha. I’ll circle back and let you know how I enjoy it! Keep up the videos for us man. You’re on my top 3 list right now for reviewers. Always quick, and to the point of information I’m looking for in a review!
Really appreciate the support and feedback! Yeah, there was probably a period of 15 years where I didn’t smoke a single CT shade 😂. I still smoke mostly stronger sticks but have really learned to appreciate a good mild to medium cigar too. Sounds good, would love to hear what you think of this one. I haven’t tried the maduro yet but it’s definitely on the list.
When will people stop putting garbage on RU-vid? You've got be constantly high on meth to not understand that the coating between SS peaks will scratch. 1D1OT.
The owner said in a video to stand those icy blocks on their side and fill water ¾ of the way up. So a lot more water than u have in there. Maybe it will help maybe not
I would love to see the fake smoked, seemed like a really well done fake. If you would be interested in seeing without smoking it I would be interested in smoking and reviewing it, crediting you and your channel of course.
I have had an Icybreeze for 3 years. I really like it but you have to understand what this is. It will not cool a room. You need to have it constantly blowing on you and it will cool you off. The ice will melt in a few hours. The more water you have on the bottom the longer the ice will last. Also, you can freeze your own blocks of ice to make it last longer. I have uses this in my truck driving 200 miles in the middle of the day with the sun blaring on me and 92 degrees outside. Holding the vent in front of my face while driving I was able to not sweat for the first two hours.
Everyone’s palate is different I guess. Didn’t feel any heat really from either of them. A 5 for me might be a 3 for someone else and an 8 for another person.
Lighting a perfecto: Cut very small part of the tip before you cut at the cap. Then take a moment and draw before lighting to add oxygen throughout the filler. Light the tip. Some rotate as they do. That usually works for a perfect one-time-go for lighting.
@@midhataboallail Cohiba Shorts don’t really have any verification tools built in as they are relatively low priced machine made cigars. The authenticity checks only apply to the hand made offering. That being said, I think it’s unlikely there are too many fake Shorts out there since they are so low priced to begin with. I’d go by provenance here, where were they purchased from? That’s probably all you need to know to determine if Shorts are authentic.
I just found your channel today and really enjoy the videos. I was able to get some quai d'orsay 52 in Cancún Mexico at the La Casa Del Habano. I smoked one when I was there and loved it. Saving them for special occasions. It sucks we can’t buy them here in the USA.
Appreciate the feedback! Those QDs will get better and better with age. Glad to hear you got them at the LCDH, there are more fakes than authentic Cubans in Cancun. Cuban cigar prices have gotten a bit crazy of late but there are a few reliable ways to get them here, check out my Patreon if you’re interested, can’t share details on YT.
thank you. i have to cut my freezer up and i am disabled. i didnt realise it was only thin metal. i cannot lift it as its too heavy for me but this way i can cut it up into parts and get them to my car
Getting a dedicated freezer for the back room. Will use freezer in summer months to freeze gallons of water jugs and smaller bottles and some regular old freeze packs and use solar charged battery to run cooler. Can run freezer often with other solar battery so I wont be using grid power much for that. Switch jugs during the day to keep it going cold and strong. Reviews seem great provided you use constant ice cold water and keep it as cold as can be for as long as you can. Large frozen jugs take much longer to melt. I could supplement house ac sometmes for good spot cooling and to use in the classic car. I'll put it on the passenger or rear floor and just shoot the air right on me. Should work for that, and would seem great at a long red light in the middle of the summer. I think I'll get one.
@@AGuThing Thanks for asking! Have a 1000w ecoflow lifepo4 solar generator with 2000w smart battery that I charge with a 400w allpowers portable solar panel. Also have 1500w and 300w allpowers units. I put the panel on patio in the sun and run line inside while charging the units. The fan on the icybreeze doesn't draw power worth worrying about, just want to run the freezer with the battery to save a few bucks on electric.
Game changer now I'm looking at a cool boss coolee (look it up). Just found yesterday online didn't know of it before. Definitely more expensive but has 2 outlets 2 fans and double size radiator I could g.a.s. about the blue tooth speakers as 2 outlets is a game changer. Same size as icybreeze but more $$$ but comes with absolutely everything like 2 batteries chargers wall plugs and built in solar for under 600.
Could you try a ‘Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2’? I’ll be trying my first cigar soon and am not sure which to pick between these two. Link me the video if you’ve already made it! Preciate it. Great video
Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I don’t currently have any Epicure No 2s and being in the US, I’m not able to purchase a single. That being said I can make a recommendation. If you have or can get your hands on the Epi No 2 that’s over a year old, preferably 3 or more, this is hands down the winner. (Cubans have the box date printed on the bottom of each box). If you’re only able to find younger sticks - might be worth picking up to let them age a little but to smoke now, I’d go with the Monte White.
These will never work apart from just blowing a little cool air directly on you. 10 pounds of ice has 1,440 BTUs of cooling capacity. A typical vehicle AC has an output of about 15,000 BTUs per hour. Essentially, you would have to melt an entire cooler of ice every 5 minutes to cool down a car effectively.
Hey buddy. Been watching your videos for the last hour or so. This is just me, but I’d like to see a little tour of your humidor. I’ve really related to you in terms of storage with temps and RH. Would be cool to see your collection! Keep up the good work! I’ll be patiently waiting!
Appreciate the support! I’m actually planning on doing some humidor tour vids at some point. Will probably break it up into a few videos, maybe a humidor or 2 at a time. Here’s my inventory tracking sheet though if you’re curious what I have sitting. Please also feel free to let me know if you see something on the sheet that you’d want to see a review of. imgur.com/a/XHoJBN3
@@AGuThing wow. That’s a hell of a collection. I haven’t seen a lot of reviews on that h.upmann classic. I really enjoyed that one. A milk chocolate delight in my opinion.
@@parkeramsberry2500 Cool! Perfect excuse to smoke a Cuban. With the way prices have been I haven’t been smoking them too often. Always looking for a good excuse/justification
@@parkeramsberry2500you’re right, the ones labeled “Classic” are the Honduran brand. It’s just what I call these in my head, the actual name of this one is a redundant H. Upmann - Upmann No 2. Lol. Happy to still review that one unless there’s something else you’d like to see. Country of origin is listed on Column F of the sheet.
Currently smoking one as I watch your review. I bought a box of these about a year ago for exactly the same reason. Morning coffee empty stomach smoke. Definitely an easy smoke but not something that was easy for me to go back to every morning. But about once a month, I’ll tap back in. They do seem to taste better the longer they’re in my humidor. Have you tried the cavalier white series? Or the knuckle sandwich Connecticut’s? Those are a couple that seem to always hit the spot for me. Thanks for the review.
Yup, definitely not something I’d want to smoke every morning. I ended up grabbing a 10pk from the shop that gave me this one. They did improve with a few months in my humidor but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing more of these. Haven’t tried the Cavalier or Knuckle Sandwich yet, will keep an eye out for them! So far my favorite milder smoke has been the Aladino CT and the New World CT
@@AGuThing yessir! I watched all those reviews too! I’d be happy to send you a package if you have a hard time finding those cigars in your area. Let me know the best way to do that if interested
Is the 'standard' bottle of Huy Fong the original version? Or is it after the break-up/lawsuits, etc? Also, what did you think of the Underwood version?
This bottle was from before they stopped production the first time but not sure if it was with Underwood peppers or another source. Haven’t tried the Underwood yet but that’s next on the list once I’m done with all of these. Have you had it?
James, I don't pay much attention to cigar reviews except for yours. Another excellent review, and what a delightfully gorgeous cigar. My mouth is watering. 😃 Cheers, brother!
Thank you Chip! Glad you’re finding my videos enjoyable and informative. Just uploaded my inventory tracker sheet, please feel free to take a look and let me know if you see anything on there that you’d like to see a review of: imgur.com/a/XHoJBN3
@@AGuThing Wow! That's an amazingly comprehensive database. You are much more organized than I. LOL Well done! I've been curious about the Davidoff Yamasa Robusto for some time; I would be interested in seeing your review of that one, if possible.
If you want an endurance test that mimic real test lab; get a ream of paper from OfficeDepot. Use a bottle jack to push the knife through the ream and test the section of the blade that went through that ream. (Over simplified) The ream of paper is to standardise the test, anyone can replicate it. The bottle jack so that you are assured the knife did go through 500 sheets of 20lbs paper Also, need a stand to hold the jack and knife in its direction
